Hey guys! [ As soon as the video feed cuts in, so does Tidus's voice, a smile and a hand raised to the screen. He's by one of the tables, breaking the 'be quiet' rule of all library spaces for a good reason - the reason which is spread out on a table, showing a selection of bottles, equipment, and even plants - one of which glows a soft gold. ]

Welcome to the newbies! I wanted to talk some about the healing we've got for people to take when they need it - plus, there's some making I was thinking some of you might be interested in - these!

[ He's grabbing a small pouch, removing the contents, and bringing a view of small green sweets sitting on his palm. ]

They're candies made from the plants we've got here. [ He nods back, and still in view is the golden plant, as well as less glowy variant. ] We've got a bunch growing, and they can be made into salves too - they're from Roland's world, and he got a book that tells you how to make them! But-

[ But- Tidus chuckles. ]

Well I've never made them before, and Roland hasn't either! Sooo... I was figuring we've got enough people here who're good at making with herbs and in the kitchen - how about we figure it out? Give people more options for healing. Then we don't have to pay for 'em. [ Heheh! ]

There's plenty of the plants in the greenhouse if you wanna try on your own - thanks, Persephone! - and the book on them's in the library. I'm gonna put some of these [ he holds the sweets back up, while also putting them back in the bag ] into the supply locker, so you can check them out. Try making them whenever you want!

[ He can't figure out the tie right now, or it's just a little too distracting. But Tidus is quiet, before he looks up from the pouch to the screen, and then to the side. His tone shifts. ]

And... if you ever worry about taking supplies when other people need them, don't, okay? Carry them with you. If you need to know how they work or just wanna ask about them, you can. And you can ask people to buy what works where you're from too. A bunch of the potions we have - they saved me more times than I can count back home. And I know Trunks swears by senzu beans.

So - yeah. [ He pulls a smile, small as it's turned. ] Drop by the library if you want! I've got an alphabet to count 'til it sticks.

[ Heh. ]

Here comes Soldat, poking their head into the library with definite interest, like, less than five minutes after that broadcast. Because goddamn do they want to learn how to make healing sweets!

"I've done some experimenting," they say, with mixed shyness and excitement. "Not with candy. But in general. And I watched somebody make candy a lot back in Beacon."

[blitzcheer]

Tidus's face brightens with recognition at the guy - maybe feeling a tad bad about how he was during the mission, but he isn't going to say anything. Instead he sits on the edge of the table, nodding with relief.

"Oh, great! I dunno if this is any different, but-" He grabs the book on the table with him, holding it up. "-worth trying, right? I don't have the head for this stuff myself - but it's got everything about the plant in it, 'swell as the recipes. More people who know what they're doing, the better!"

If Soldat holds any of the mission against him, or even considers the mission at all right now, it doesn't show. "If there's recipe, then so long as you don't need magic to make it, that should be fine." They accept the book to start flipping through. "I'm very good at following recipes, but the only magic I have is related to metal. Or my lantern, I guess."

[ There could be a lot of useful stuff said here. And Inigo will do as much, probably later with Tidus in private, but for now..

I make a lot of salves and lotions myself - or I did back home. Here some of my plants are still growing. But I'm glad to help.

Yeah, you're perfect for the job, Nell! [ No hesitation thinking that. She's said so herself that she does this! ] You okay teaching other people how to do it too? I know we have the stuff for making salves - a guy used to make them here before. But I don't know anything. I guess you stir everything together in a pot...?

Cool, thanks! You think you could do something with the plants? Make 'em into potions? I don't know a lot about potion making...

Oh - I also bought some of the scanners that were in the ministry medical kits - the ones that tell you if your remedy will work on someone? I left one in triage and I'll be putting another in medical.

[And keeping the third, but shh.]

Oh yeah, I grabbed a few for supplies too. [ He should stick them in, audit them or- whatever. Or leave them to someone else to do.

But whatever, not as important as returning back on topic: ] But, great! Nell and Soldat sound ready to give them a go. Otoha too! We can take a swing at it - I'll even help if stuff needs mashing up.

[ Sounds like it might? He doesn't mind working on that. ]

They're healing candies, you say? Well... it never hurts to be prepared in multiple ways! [it'd also be convenient to have some when he himself is too drained to heal people with his abilities.]

And if I do say so myself, I've become rather well-versed in the kitchen, so it would be nice to put those skills to use in other ways.

[sizhui does have some other questions though:] What kind of potions? Also, what exactly are senzu beans? [and how do beans help save someone? unless they are magical, which would explain a lot, and the same goes with these so-called ‘candies’ he'd assume.]

[ Ah, looks like someone's hanging around Roland's 'ol watering hole! Except he drinks in knowledge, not...booze. Ahem. ]

I can get behind that idea. Nice one, pro. [ A pause. Then, a hum. ] Now that I think about, I should have gotten more tips about how to make those things hands-on. Guess I just didn't want to make a habit of visiting the hubble-bubbery too often, heh.

[ We like to shrug off our arrow injuries here. ]

[ You better not be voicing him from the library too, old man!! Come downstairs!! ]

Oh yeah, I can see you offering to be in a kitchen making candies. [ There's humour to it, but no jabs. But also, Roland with his sleeves rolled up and an apron on? Nothing new, but Tidus knows where Roland would rather be - a dorky library! ]

How about you get the time now? We got a few people interested. Nell knows how to make salves, and Otoha knows how to make potions! And that means you get the fun of auditing.

[ Heh!! ]

So we're making healing cough drops now, huh?

Yup! [ Hah. ]

Stick a candy in your mouth, heal that stab wound you just got?

[ You know, to make it sound even more ridiculous. ]

[It's not cynicism so much as clarification - he will never forget Bender and his abjectly bizarre culinary creations - but he does still have to ask.]

Is there an explanation for the other supplies in the inventory, or do we need to come to you?

Yup.

[ That's probably not as detailed as Wash might like, but also thick enough with humour to indicate that yes, Tidus knows exactly how bizarre that sounds.

But he'll turn soon after the question's asked, as he looks for - aha, the tablet device now in hand, on show. ]

We've got one of these with instructions and what they do. [ Well, some instructions. But there is a pause, and he'll ask: ] You know tech? We should probably go back to a paper file too.

Candy that heals people. You know, that might be the strangest thing I've heard since arriving.

[He's only just arrived, admittedly. Healing candy is definitely stranger to him than the situation itself though.] I'm pretty handy in the kitchen though, so I'll give the book a look and see if I can't add the recipe to my repertoire.

[Better to be prepared than to wait for things to fall into his and everyone else's laps, so far as he's concerned.]

[ The initial remark does get a small chuckle out of Tidus. But, for the rest- ]

Sure. If you wanna have a go yourself, you want the plant with two green leaves - we got plenty of those for trying out with. The one with more leaves are better quality, then the glowy ones we'll need more time for growing more.

[ So that wasn't going to be available for messing around.

But he does think to add, with the comment about healing candies: ] We used to have someone around, a while back. She made magic candies for protection - you sucked on 'em, and they made attacks bounce off you more.

Too bad we don't have her book.

Wangji will drift in, looking a little sheepish around the edges, but he's bored and wants to be useful.
"I came to stock up, as I seem to be taking mostly support roles." He will take whatever candies or salves Tidus will offer him. "Best to be prepared. That last mission I would have benefitted from these, the ribbons I fought were painful." Bruising is visible on one arm and leg - but it is fading rapidly to yellow.
"Gardening is not my forte," He admits, having a look at the glowing plant with visible interest. "However I am a decent cook, and this cannot be too different. I would like to try making some, is it a complicated process?"

[blitzcheer]

Oh, look who it is! The older - forever old - Wangji gets a, "Oh, hey!" when Tidus first spots him, a nod. He's sitting at the table, caught in the middle of a stretch that relaxes from easily, listening to Wangji until he comes to the question.

"You'll wanna ask the cooks about that." Eheh. He looks at the same plant Wangji is eyeing himself. "A few people've offered. Oh, even Sizhui! They're gonna be trying to make them, so we can get together and try it out. The recipe didn't look complicated."

So, hopefully it won't be too bad...

"But we can find out." No other way. He pauses, then looks at Wangji. "Hey, those talismans you made - anyone can use them, right? You think we could have some for supplies so other people can use?"
