Hey guys! [ As soon as the video feed cuts in, so does Tidus's voice, a smile and a hand raised to the screen. He's by one of the tables, breaking the 'be quiet' rule of all library spaces for a good reason - the reason which is spread out on a table, showing a selection of bottles, equipment, and even plants - one of which glows a soft gold. ]

Welcome to the newbies! I wanted to talk some about the healing we've got for people to take when they need it - plus, there's some making I was thinking some of you might be interested in - these!

[ He's grabbing a small pouch, removing the contents, and bringing a view of small green sweets sitting on his palm. ]

They're candies made from the plants we've got here. [ He nods back, and still in view is the golden plant, as well as less glowy variant. ] We've got a bunch growing, and they can be made into salves too - they're from Roland's world, and he got a book that tells you how to make them! But-

[ But- Tidus chuckles. ]

Well I've never made them before, and Roland hasn't either! Sooo... I was figuring we've got enough people here who're good at making with herbs and in the kitchen - how about we figure it out? Give people more options for healing. Then we don't have to pay for 'em. [ Heheh! ]

There's plenty of the plants in the greenhouse if you wanna try on your own - thanks, Persephone! - and the book on them's in the library. I'm gonna put some of these [ he holds the sweets back up, while also putting them back in the bag ] into the supply locker, so you can check them out. Try making them whenever you want!

[ He can't figure out the tie right now, or it's just a little too distracting. But Tidus is quiet, before he looks up from the pouch to the screen, and then to the side. His tone shifts. ]

And... if you ever worry about taking supplies when other people need them, don't, okay? Carry them with you. If you need to know how they work or just wanna ask about them, you can. And you can ask people to buy what works where you're from too. A bunch of the potions we have - they saved me more times than I can count back home. And I know Trunks swears by senzu beans.

So - yeah. [ He pulls a smile, small as it's turned. ] Drop by the library if you want! I've got an alphabet to count 'til it sticks.

[ Heh. ]

[it's the proper thing to do, okay! people might be reading in there, after all, and he'd hate to disturb anyone in the middle of something important like that.

finding tidus sat down like it's the most boring thing in existence isn't too surprising; he's always seemed to be someone who prefers moving, which suddenly has spinning chairs making sense when sizhui contemplates this. would a seat that spins help him burn more energy? he doesn't know, but he's also not afraid to ask,]

Goofing around? Such as, what, spinning until you're dizzy?

[sizhui's attention is solely on tidus while they're chatting, though he doesn't mind tidus watching the kitten, who continues to bapbapbap his hair ribbon. as soon as she attempts chewing it, he reaches up, extricates the fabric from her teeth and claws, cups her in both hands while moving to set her down on the table before tidus.] Her name is Hui, which means ‘ash’ in my native tongue. [he grins, stretching a hand out and brushing his finger across her little gray nose.] She's a birthday gift from my father, actually! I asked for a companion and this is the cutie he got.

Yeah! [ Tidus pipes up without missing a beat to the clarification, even with a sing-song to the single syllable. You bet he'd love that, sitting here pretending like he has any leg to stand on when it comes to healing and medications.

(But, here he is!)

But Tidus listens to Sizhui's own explanation, leaning an arm on the side of the table, and his grin really pulling at birthday gift from my father. A small 'aww', that's playful, but also genuine. ]

That's nice! Hey, you gotta let me get you something too. Even something for the little guy? What do cats like? [ Hmm- he chuckles after a moment of thought. ] A nice rug to sleep on?

[ Isn't that what all cats do? Laze around, dozing? ... and bapping ribbons, apparently. ]

[how did he know exactly what to guess? well, in all honesty, it's the first thing that came to mind when picturing tidus in a spinny chair, followed closely after by him pushing someone else around on the aforementioned seat.] Of course, [sizhui sighs without any real heat behind it, rolls his eyes then directs his attention toward some nearby healing items, lips quirked in a half-smirk.

get your kicks wherever you can, tidus.

he playfully narrows his eyes at the teasing, that remark earning an actual, proper grin as he turns back.] Something for Hui would be alright. [this way, it's a birthday gift to him but he's able to start gathering comfort items for his kitten too.

speaking of whom, she's now making her way over to the arm tidus is propped up on, already purring louder than a motorboat and somehow growing louder while rubbing against him.] Goodness, acting like you haven't got enough attention today. Tsk, tsk! [but again, he doesn't genuinely look all that bothered, pondering instead what else might be good for little kitty.] If not a rug or bed, perhaps toys? She'll need something to keep her active and burn off energy.

Food isn't ever a bad idea, either. [and yes, consider also: saving sizhui's hair accessories.]

[ Has Tidus been blessed with good company? Indeed, look who's deemed him worthy of attention - even an arm rub! It's surprisingly soft, and the touch is unusual (unfamiliar) to him that Tidus nearly pulls back, but only does on the rest of his body than the arm. As if to give the kitty plenty of room.

He chuckles, and leaves his arm where it is, using his other hand to rub some fingers atop little Hui's head. ] Hi there. Want me to be Uncle Tidus?

[ Yes, he is talking to the cat. It's okay, at least he's only keeping it to uncle and not offering to be his new daddy and steal him in the night! But he is listening to Sizhui too, gaze lifting to the other guy briefly before he lets himself fuss the cat, watching what it'll do in response to him. ]

Different food from the train's pet option on the shop? I don't know what cats eat -- well, other than fish.

[ That's the basic cat diet! If one was to ask Tidus (or Spark, on the train). ]

[clearly he has and, after a few minutes, not only is there continuous purring coming from baby kitty, but she lets out the softest mew then lifts a paw to touch tidus's hand. pets, please? is the silent inquiry here, so let's hope tidus obliges! but if he doesn't, he'll just have to deal with whining, at least until hui becomes interested in something else.

the pets do eventually come and she arches, stretches, even rises onto her toes to bump tidus's fingers with her head, somehow purring louder for encouragement.] Sounds like a resounding ‘yes’ to me. [sizhui giggles, thoroughly amused with his cat's antics.

and he's not going to judge tidus, given he also talks to her and would sincerely motivate other people to do it as well. why shouldn't they talk to their animals, after all? they enjoy the interaction too! however, had tidus joked about sweeping her away in his vulnerable sleeping state, there might have been an attempt at something akin to actual banter. (because nobody is allowed to snatch his kitten away, okay? he just got her and he'd feel like a fool if she went missing suddenly—) but in the end, he is well-aware tidus would be joking.

though she's entirely crazy about attention, being fussed with extra doesn't cause enough overstimulation that hui disengages. instead, she rears up like preparing for an attack— and then proceeds to headbutt tidus's arm.] If you feel so inclined. Cats are carnivorous, meat is good for their diet, but they can also snack on fruits and vegetables sometimes. [pause] If they like them, anyway.

[ Look at this little happy customer he has! Tidus does give her some fussing, but he can't tell the meaning behind every move. Is that rearing up a stretch? That's what he thinks before the headbutt, and he laughs lightly, tickled by her soft fur before mortally wounded. ]

Fruit? [ ...actually, a lot of animals like fruit, don't they? ] Huh, never knew! What fruit does this little lady like? Apples?

[ They always have apples. ]

[tidus's other customer has returned his attention to the healing items for now, reaching out toward one of the plants and brushing it with a fingertip, curiosity piqued. the kitten bunts his arm a second time then rubs her face over the same spot, purring away, clearly pleased with all this attention being lavished upon her.

following tidus's question, sizhui mmhmms and the cat plops down, rolls over onto its back and proceeds to stretch both paws upward to bap at her brand new uncle's hand.] It does seem odd but yes! [he glances sideways at them, considering.] Actually, I've not given her fruit yet? But apples are something they can have. The few others I can remember off the top of my head are bananas, strawberries and watermelon.

[apples, however, are likely what they have the most of though, it's true.]

[ Healing stuff, what healing stuff. That is mere decoration now for what's asking for Tidus's attention, wondering if cats like belly rubs like dogs? -- but Hui seems more keen in his hand still, so he wafts it lightly, just to give a moving target (and to watch for any tiny claws). ]

Hmmm, okay - I think Persephone grows all those. [ ...somehow. She's always growing though, in the greenhouse. ] Let's check the kitchen sometime.

[ But he's remembered the true reason Sizhui came, of course, and he...thinks for a second about reaching for a book, but nods to it instead. It's in better reach of Sizhui than him, especially with the cat being cute at him. :( ]

The recipe's in that book, at the bookmark. It's pretty simple looking, so it shouldn't be too hard? It's just water and sugar-- and plants.

[ And plants! ...and hopefully that'll be enough to make it taste alright, not now he can't help but wonder what they're going to be met with, taste-wise. ]

[right, right, just nevermind him then! so long as his kitten is being good, he will keep right on checking out these plants, candies and— what was it, beans? ah well, he can ask again later when tidus isn't already preoccupied with the cat and discussing fruits. hui continues reaching, doing her absolute best to avoid poking tidus, but those claws sometimes stick out without her knowledge. (she's a baby, still learning her own strengths and such—) but at least those small paws lower, tucking close to her chest, big eyes staring expectantly at tidus's hand.

if he still wants, here's his chance for a belly-rub before she gets too feisty again!]

Perfect, that sounds like a plan to me. [sizhui hums thoughtfully, wondering if there might be any way he could pay this persephone back for them raiding her fruit, though he imagines there's enough if she's willing to share with other voidtreckers by putting them in the kitchen. maybe if she's told they're for a cat? definitely might be more appealing in that case.

he has no problem taking that hint, grinning as he reaches for the book, settles it against his arm and opens it right up to the aforementioned bookmark.] Ah... hm. [flavor isn't something he's worried about most times; if it tastes bad, that means it's working, of course.]

What if we grind them up really well and then boil the leaves? Will that make them less effective, you think?

[ Tidus's young heart can take a claw a two, a patting of paws. Keeping the youngster occupied, though he becomes distracted with the suggestion. Hmm? ]

Is that how you make tea? [ ...well, if the leaves are dried, apparently. He huffs, a mirthful sound. ] I couldn't tell you. Is that in the book? Only times I mess with leaves is-

[ He makes a motion of sprinkling. ]

Adding some all diced up into a sauce or stuffing it into a sandwich! [ ...which he still does on the train, now and then. ]

What about you?

[kitty doesn't mind that he's distracted answering questions, she just keeps right on lying there, though her back legs have begun rabbit-kicking while the front ones are stretched out and kneading the air.]

Actually, we use whole leaves for tea. [higher quality and better flavor, which is why he didn't mind using teabags, but he's extra delighted they have some actual leaves and teapots now too. this way, there's more variety, people can choose whatever they like best.] Not that I can see? I was just suggesting it, for flavoring reasons.

[sizhui's head tilts in tidus's direction, so he can watch him motion, his eyebrows lifting consideringly then he nods.] I've used them for cooking and such.

Though, I have also used plants for other medicinal reasons.
