Um...hi.

[It's a female's voice, lower and calm--not quite deadpan.]

So, I came on board recently, and my name is Raven. I'm on the purple team.

[Awkward introduction is awkward, but none of that should be showing through in her manner.]

I've met some of you already.

[There's a pause and a slow blink, and now the awkwardness is showing somewhat.]

I'm speaking out though, because of the aftermath of the inspections. I'm an Empath--I sense emotions basically. I've been trained since I was very young though in my control over it, and I respect privacy a lot. Mostly because I'd want mine respected.

But I can also project my empathy--which is why I'm speaking up. If you're feeling overwhelmed or panicky and it's left over from the void-particles or whatever, if you want I can help you calm down.

[There's a shrug, and the awkwardness is definitely there now. If anyone has questions, now is a good time to ask them.]

In a way, it's as much to help me too. The inspections weren't fun--mostly because the combination of locking us in our rooms and the feelings were... difficult to deal with. Especially since I was in the last cabin to be inspected.

I suspect it'd be similar to blocking telepathy. Mostly it depends on mastering your own emotions and reactions to them, probably.

I have no intention of exhausting myself.

It might. I've had it work on some of the animals on Earth before...

Honestly, you can't really help that you're...emoting, any more than you can help that you're 'breathing' or 'existing' in a way. So, while I appreciate your willingness to try and keep yourself controlled, don't strain yourself doing so either.

The fear has been getting to her these last few days and she still feels embarrassed and stupid about the fact the inspectors could make her stop fighting, make her stop wanting to fight.

The idea there was someone else who could change her feelings was not good news.]

That's one way to put it.

[Raven is not bothered either by the suspicion or the glare. It's entirely reasonable for people TO be suspicious.]

I don't do so unless it's wanted though by the person, or it's an emergency situation--like calming a mob of people down in an enclosed space. Ethics and morality were a strong core in my training.
