[Video]---Everywhere--OTA

[The screen of the ICP shows a figure with a deep cowl in a blue, and hints of the VT-uniform in purple under the voluminous cloak. The top of the cowl means the upper half of the person's face is in shadow, and the rest of their features are pale.]

Um...hi.

[It's a female's voice, lower and calm--not quite deadpan.]

So, I came on board recently, and my name is Raven. I'm on the purple team.

[Awkward introduction is awkward, but none of that should be showing through in her manner.]

I've met some of you already.

[There's a pause and a slow blink, and now the awkwardness is showing somewhat.]

I'm speaking out though, because of the aftermath of the inspections. I'm an Empath--I sense emotions basically. I've been trained since I was very young though in my control over it, and I respect privacy a lot. Mostly because I'd want mine respected.

But I can also project my empathy--which is why I'm speaking up. If you're feeling overwhelmed or panicky and it's left over from the void-particles or whatever, if you want I can help you calm down.

[There's a shrug, and the awkwardness is definitely there now. If anyone has questions, now is a good time to ask them.]

[ Luke nodded, understanding exactly what she meant. ]

I can meet you there.

[Since he mentioned he had similar abilities to her Empathy, Raven had thought he would. Not that she didn't appreciate May Parker's concern and obvious care. Just...Raven was still not sure just how much she was willing to open herself up again to others. Not past a certain point.

So she stayed by the ICP for a little longer, in case anyone had questions she could answer. Then shut down the video function, and Raven headed for one of the quiet rooms in the quiet cabin. Even if she didn't move into the room, she might sleep there overnight just to get some extra rest that night.

Quiet steps even in her uniform, the hints of black and purple seen only briefly under the cloak and cowl. Senses open just enough to alert her of other people as she moved through the train.]

[ Luke took his time, not wanting to invade in her private space until he was certain that it truly would be okay. Therefore, it was a long moment after Raven had relocated to one of the quiet rooms before he approached, knocking softly on the door. ]

[ For Raven, on the other side of that door, there was a faint sense of curiosity at the forefront, and a heavy feeling of duty and responsibility that clung to him. And then there was light; so much light that it didn't seem like it was possible for darkness to be around him. It was there, certainly, trying to cling to him, but the light felt like it was drowning everything else out. ]

[She appreciated the knock, although Raven had also been aware of his approach just from the passive 'sensing' she usually had. Reading that casual 'emoting' that people did just by existing--and he was interesting.

Still, Raven once again debated with herself if this was worth it? She'd already shared more today than she had really wanted to, even if it was probably better in the long run. Helping everyone else stay calm would help her remain so.

Murmuring her mantra to herself quietly, Raven did her best to keep herself calm. Controlled. Moving to the door and opening it--her presence in the force was....unique. Controlled and calm and a sense of depth that there was so much more. Much like she hid in her cloak and cowl.]

Sorry if this all seems weird. I just have some questions, that if you're willing to answer, I didn't think you'd want to over video where anyone could see.

[ Luke offered her one of his warm smiles, as if that was more than enough to assure her that he didn't find any of this weird. ]

I didn't introduce myself before: Luke Skywalker.

[That light was very obvious, in his smile. Her friends would've liked him; that thought made Raven almost smile. Almost.]

I just go by Raven, although the train gave my mother's last name of Roth.

[Stepping in and away from the door so he could enter.]

If it helps, I haven't heard your name before, and you don't seem any more or less familiar to me than anyone else here.

[ Luke chuckled softly at that, slipping into the room. He looks young, like he's still in his early teens, even though he's already hit twenty. ]

It does; it means I can talk to you freely without having to worry about what might be different from what you 'know'.

[ He paused a moment, getting a good look at her, his expression softening. ]

...you know, you almost feel like you could be another Force user. Our powers must really be similar.

[If and when Raven stops hiding under her cowl, he'll see that she's younger than she comes across or sounds. Part of that whole having to stay in control thing, on her part.]

...'m not sure I know what you mean.

[She could use force in her attacks, and with her powers. That didn't sound like what he meant though.]

Oh; the Force is what my power is called. Sorry.

[ He gave her a sheepish look, before he glanced around, looking for something small that he could lift, so as not to alarm her too much. ]

...better name than some I've heard.

[At least it wasn't faux-tofu going by 'The Source', or nu-fu.]

[ Luke shrugged slightly, a sheepish smile coming to his face, before he settled for pulling his lightsaber out, holding it out in his open palm, before making it float. ]

I guess it's called that because we're a force to be reckoned with?

[ He's... a little sorry for having his father's terrible sense of humor. ]

[Seriously? There is a slow blink. Then Raven reached a hand out, and let her own dark-energy wrap around the cylinder. Moving, if she could, to only float it slightly higher from Luke's hand.

Not stealing it, more a demonstration of her own.]

I'd say it's more whoever named it lacks imagination.

[ Luke's face brightened at the display of power, a grin creeping up onto his face. ]

Nice.

[ He shrugged sheepishly after a moment. ]

The Force is old. Older than old; I have no idea who named it.

[Raven doesn't have any reaction overtly to the grin or comment. Letting her control over the object go, so it can fall back in his hand.]

I suppose one name works as good as another. I'd need to know more about it, before I could say much more.

[There was a pause, and Raven sort of shifted awkwardly.]

It's more...I wanted to ask about what you said. About your father.

[ Luke was preoccupied with returning his lightsaber to his belt, but he froze at the mention of his father, looking up at her in surprise. ]

Oh...

[ He blinked, before a faint smile came to his face. Talking about his father was definitely something he would never mind doing. ]

What do you want to know?

You said the inspectors reminded you of how others feel about your father.

[There's a pause, Raven turning her head to the side slightly.]

You also seemed hesitant to talk about it. I'd...like to know, and talk with you, but I also don't want to bring up anything you don't want to talk about.

[ Luke shook his head. ]

On the contrary, I don't mind talking about him. However... others have some preconceptions of what kind of person he is, and my relationship with him.

[ He paused, shrugging slightly. ]

I'm still coming to terms with the people that 'know' me, don't know the real me, and trying to figure out how to correct it.

Well, as I said--I've never met you or heard of you or the Force or anything like it before now. I'm familiar with something called "The Source" but that's nothing like you or what you showed me. Unless you're really an alien made of some tofu-like substance that isn't actually tofu.

[All entirely serious and deadpan.]

[ Luke laughed at the mental image of something like that... though maybe he shouldn't have. Maybe something like that actually existed in her universe. ]

That's why I don't mind talking about him with you.

[ He paused a moment, leaning against one of the room's walls, like he knew he was going to be there awhile. ]

My father is the second in command of the Galactic Empire back home. He goes by Darth Vader now, though his birth name was Anakin Skywalker.

[There were chairs in the quiet cabin, and a desk against the wall. Raven usually ignored the chairs because she was in there to meditate. But this was the closest they could get to privacy, and she was glad he was willing to talk to her.

One hand out and moving a chair closer to him, again with her dark energy (and maybe a hint of shy smile), before she moved to take the other. Settling into listen.]

Galactic Empire?

[That sounded vaguely like something from one of Beast Boy's movies, at least in name. But then, Raven was familiar with the idea of multiverses and it was a good 'generic' name of sorts too.]

Mmhmm... it used to be a Republic, before I was born, but...

[ Luke frowned; he still didn't completely understand the details, and it bothered him. ]

The public story is that the Jedi betrayed the Republic and tried to kill the chancellor. He was saved by my father, and the chancellor declared a new Empire with himself as Emperor, and the Jedi were ordered eliminated on sight.

[ He let out a faint noise, realizing that was a lot to take in in one breath. ]

That's... not really the case, though. The Emperor is out to control the galaxy for his own selfish ends. The Empire has a lot of problems because of him.

[Raven listened, able to read between the lines a little bit if only because it was the backdrop to a common tale with politics and worlds in many places. It also did sound like one of BB's movies still, but that didn't bother her. ]

Before you continue, what's a jedi?

People who used the 'light' side of the Force.

[ He took a breath, trying to think of a simple way to explain it, before he blew it out. Nope, there really wasn't one. ]

...it's complicated. Suffice to say, there was a group of thousands before the Emperor ordered them wiped out.

[Raven nodded, willing to let that go for now. She was curious but she understood it might be complicated.]

Alright. So, what were they in the republic, that it was such a big deal they 'betrayed' it? I don't need details, I just...would like context to fill in a bit more. Especially since you're not sure that's what happened.

They were supposed to be the guardians of peace and justice in the Republic, but...

[ Luke shrugged slightly. ]

The way my father tells it, they lost their way long before anything happened, and may well have destroyed themselves even without the Emperor's hand in things.
