[The screen of the ICP shows a figure with a deep cowl in a blue, and hints of the VT-uniform in purple under the voluminous cloak. The top of the cowl means the upper half of the person's face is in shadow, and the rest of their features are pale.]

Um...hi.

[It's a female's voice, lower and calm--not quite deadpan.]

So, I came on board recently, and my name is Raven. I'm on the purple team.

[Awkward introduction is awkward, but none of that should be showing through in her manner.]

I've met some of you already.

[There's a pause and a slow blink, and now the awkwardness is showing somewhat.]

I'm speaking out though, because of the aftermath of the inspections. I'm an Empath--I sense emotions basically. I've been trained since I was very young though in my control over it, and I respect privacy a lot. Mostly because I'd want mine respected.

But I can also project my empathy--which is why I'm speaking up. If you're feeling overwhelmed or panicky and it's left over from the void-particles or whatever, if you want I can help you calm down.

[There's a shrug, and the awkwardness is definitely there now. If anyone has questions, now is a good time to ask them.]

That's why I'm offering. It'll make it easier for me too, having people calmer.

[If it was like a sixth sense, then Raven could probably guess. But he still had her curious now.]

Yeah, it’s like this thing that warns me of danger before it happens. Or at least-that’s what it’s supposed to do.

So what's with the name?

[It doesn't matter, but she's curious.]

Do you want me to meet you? If so, where?

Oh! Uh, I got bit by a radioactive spider and now I have the proportionate strength and abilities of a Spider-so uh... I'm Spider-Man.

[ He says proudly. ]

Uh huh.

[Any snark is inferred thanks to her usual deadpan-tone, because she does believe you Peter. She's seen strange things.]

At least your head isn't a spider; although if that happens to you, you're on your own.

[Wait, what? There's...there's a story there.]

Uh... no. I mean-I'm pretty sure that won't happen. It was like two years ago when I got bit? So, you know.

[ He shudders a little at the thought. ]

How does that even happen? I mean I really, really hope that's just a joke 'cause like you kinda talk in deadpan all the time so it's a little hard to tell when you're joking? My friend MJ does the same thing. She's petty cool though. And like, really smart.

I have no idea how it happens, and I do not want to know. But yes, I've met a guy like that. His name was Fang, and he was the boyfriend of this girl named Kitten who seemed entirely normal, if psychotic and obssessed with her junior prom.

[There's a slow blink, and while Raven's tone is still deadpan she's entirely serious.]

She blackmailed my friend, Robin, in to taking her to her junior Prom. Starfire went and dealt with them while Beast Boy, Cy, and myself went and stopped Killer Moth. Her father.

I mean-I don't either-but at the same time, from like a scientific standpoint, I kinda do 'cause that shouldn't even be possible? So his whole head just like... turned in to a whole Spider?

[ Peter listens to the story and finds that he can.. kinda relate. A little. He didn't have to deal with any psycho date but- ]

Man, and I complained about having to fight my ex-girlfriend's dad on an invisible jet during my Homecoming.

Nice to know villains have lame names in your universe too though, I guess.

Some things are universal. Or multi-versal in this case, I suppose.

[Despite the deadpan tone, there is a hint of warmth.]

But yes, did you want to meet me or me to meet you, and where?

Huh? Oh-oh yeah uh... I mean I'm just in the Lavender Dea-uh, I mean the dressing car. Uh... you don't mind spiderwebs, right? The Dressing Car's kinda full of them.

[There is a slow blink, and then a slight head shake. Mostly because Raven doesn't want to try and parse what he was about to say.]

I don't mind them as long as I can avoid them. I'll head that way then shortly.

[She has at least one other to help first, but she will get to Peter quickly. Having a sixth sense that warns you of danger going off all the time was not pleasant, Raven was sure.]

[ Peter's in the dressing room as he said he would be, chilling in one of the various webs that Charlotte made for the Spider-Kids. He hears her coming before the door slides open and rolls out of his hammock and back onto the floor. ]

Hey!

Uh... sorry about all the.. uh...

[ He gestures to the webs. ]

[Raven should be able to avoid the webs, as they weren't too all over the place. Or at least, they were confined to most of the high places.]

It's okay. I've dealt with worse.

[Like laundry day, and dealing with Beast Boy's room.]

Just don't tell me you made them yourself.

[One hand up to forestall any explanations.]

I accepted a lot of strangeness, living with Beast Boy and Starfire, but some things even I'm better off not knowing.

[She might be joking; not that it's easy to tell.]

[ He opens his mouth immediately, ready to explain the webs but stops when she holds her hand up. ]

Oh, no. Mine don't last-they tend to dissolve after two hours.

Uh! They're uh-not organic though-I make them with uh... like chemicals. And stuff.

[ He pauses a moment. ]

Well-I used to. I've been trying but I don't have most of the chemicals here. I'm actually really good at chemistry.

[Raven just shook her head softly. Seems she'd have to make her moods really obvious around Peter.]

Are you babbling because you're more nervous than usual? I don't bite, and I'm here to help.

[Raven looked around for a space that wasn't near the webs, to settle herself on the floor. Cross-legged, cowl still up, relaxed but alert at the same time.]

No. I'm not nervous. Why would I be nervous. There's absolutely no reason for me to be nervous.

[ He's nervous. He's not sure how this is supposed to work. She's not gonna like look into his soul and see all this darkest moments, is she? Not that he has very many of them, but there is that one he'd rather not think about. ]

I just um... I talk a lot. It helps. I think. I mean when I was little I didn't-like at all. Because I didn't want to but then I just started one day.

[There is a slow blink, followed by another.]

Peter, I'm an Empath. You're nervous. I can feel it, even if I couldn't tell by all the talking. You did also ask for my help, because there is still lingering dread and fear in the air and it's getting to some of us even though it should be gone.

[All calm and even-voiced, slightly warm as well. Letting herself actively project calm and peace.]

It's fine if you babble, but this will be easier if you focus. I can and am projecting calm and peace, but it'll be easier for you if you do what you can to calm down too. I won't do anything else, or probe your mind or steal your soul, without your permission.

[There was a heartbeat, before one side of her mouth lifted slightly.]

That's a joke, by the way. About the soul thing.

Uh.. yeah okay. Calm and peace.

[ Peter nods, closing his eyes in case it might help. He doesn't think so but it's worth a shot. He takes in a deep breath and finds the whole clearing his mind thing a lot easier with the added assistance. ]

Y-yeah, please don't steal that. I'm pretty sure I need it.

I can't and won't steal your soul, Peter. Or your mind.

[There is a definite hint of amusement, as well as warmth, in her voice this time.]

So what I want you to do is focus on breathing. We're going to take even and deep breaths. Inhaling for a count of 3, then exhaling for a count of 3. If you've meditated or done yoga or a few other esoteric practices, this might be familiar. That's not a bad thing, as it's a common step to help one calm down in a variety of situations.

You can also count with me, if that'd help--some people have trouble clearing their mind and that's perfectly alright too.

[Continuing to project that feeling of calm and peace. Letting it surround her, and start to surround him, almost as if they were in a giant bubble.]
