[Bucky has never used an ICP before. He's never even touched one, as a matter of fact, but his fear of ice is greater than his fear of the small talking screen, so he's making an attempt.

Which is to say he thinks this is directed only at Kaito, but it's absolutely visible to everyone on the train. So have an entirely-too-close look at his face, his eyes a little wider than what would be normal.] What?! No. I swear to god, I will break the ice machine.

Uh... you can just buy the bears? [ He blinks ]

Are... you okay, Bucky-san?

[Bucky's head jerks back to a more reasonable distance.] I already paid for a bear. And a stereoscope. And I don't like ice.

Fair. [ He shrugs ] It's just drive to get more bears, Bucky-san. [ He adds, a bit gentler ] You don't have to do the ice part y'know. It's just for fun.

[luckybucky]

[Let's just say it's a really good thing Bucky doesn't have a Facebook.] How many bears do we need? I thought Tony got enough last time. And it doesn't look like fun. [Or sound like it. Is he pouting? He's maybe pouting.]

Dunno. [ He shrugs ] As many as people need, I guess? We're always getting new people, right? So we're always gonna need more bears.

[ He grins ]

Oh, but it is, once the shock wears off. You're familiar with the concept of an adrenalin rush? It's like that. WHAM. WHOO! [ complete with gestures ] Something something, rapid temperature change something something affects norepherine in the brain something something.

[Bucky shudders visibly] That is not the way I would describe dealing with ice being dumped on me.

You do not have to do this 'challenge', Bucky.

[ Look, he may not always be able to pick up on everything, but he can tell when someone's just shy of having a meltdown. ]

It doesn't sound optional... [But it's no small comfort to hear that from a team leader. Some of the tension even eases out of his shoulders.]

It is, if I have anything to say about it.

[ And he has plenty to say, especially if you all are dumping ice water on yourselves in the middle of public areas! ]

Though if you have the points for at least one teddy bear, I do encourage getting one for the cause. However, dumping ice water on yourself is not necessary.

Well, good. And I already did. I can get another? Or make Tony buy another with my ticket, anyway. That's what I did last time

[ Luke let out a soft chuckle at that. ]

You know, I did hear that knitting is good for battle fatigue. [And if he isn't a prime example of it, he doesn't know who is.]

[Now that Raven's been clued-in to what's going on, she's paying more attention to the network about these ice-bucket-things. AND it is definitely not a good thing for Bucky, to try and do this.

So, time to find him and make sure he's okay.]

[He's currently hiding in the back of the pantry -- it's not a great hiding spot, since he's spent most of the month (while he was here, anyway) in the kitchen, but it feels safer. So that's where he is, pretending that he's doing something useful by "organizing" the already well-organized kitchen. He looks up, a bit like a deer in headlights when he senses Raven there, but relaxes immediately when he sees it's her.] If you have a bucket of ice water, we're not friends anymore...

No Ice. No ice water. I know better than to do that with you, even if I was going to do it to anyone. Which I won't.

[Have a slightly shy and awkward smile.]

Find any of the good tea while you're in there?

[He smiles back, with a little warmth, even.] Yeah, I figured you wouldn't be that rude. The really good tea is back here, though. [He heads to the back corner, to where there are a couple boxes of average tea and, from behind them he produces a canister, full of the good stuff.] I have no idea what kind it is, though. Tea's not really my thing.

[It is a suggestion, and she won't be upset if he says no.]

I outed myself, as an Empath, shortly after we had the surprise inspection. Mostly because that ordeal was accompanied by nightmares and bad feelings that lingered, and everyone was already on edge.

[Her voice was quieter, as that had not been a fun time.]

It's not any easier, feeling all this stuff second hand so to speak.

[Not a complaint, just commiseration.]

[He smiles a little and nods as he heads back into the kitchen proper with her, putting on a kettle rather than going upstairs to use the already-hot water up there.] I figured it'd be worse, feeling everyone's instead of just your own. I'd crack right down the middle. [As if he weren't already cracked pretty badly, just from what Hydra had done, from the seemingly weird fears he'd picked up. It was a lot harder to push those things down and ignore them when there wasn't much to keep yourself busy with. There were no Nazis to hunt on the train, after all.] I really am sorry, if mine has made things harder on you.

[Her joyful exclamation is cut short. Oh right, no one has remembered Paradisa thus far, and he's obviously panicked.]

[He blinks owlishly.] Yes. Do I know you? [Does she have the authority to un-challenge him?? Are challenges legally binding? He has so many questions.]

[She might not have the authority, but Dairine doesn't care. She'll kick authority to the curb!]

[It's okay, Bucky is an expert at navigating confusing situations. He's been confused most of his life.] No, but that doesn't necessarily mean much. I lost some time recently. [He glances off to the side, and looks like he just bit into a lemon.]

No stress! So far no one here but me remembers life in Cair Paradisa, so you've got good company.
