[He blinks owlishly.] Yes. Do I know you? [Does she have the authority to un-challenge him?? Are challenges legally binding? He has so many questions.]

Maybe? I dunno, it's complicated. [Damn castle, making things difficult!] Do you recognize me?

[She might not have the authority, but Dairine doesn't care. She'll kick authority to the curb!]

[It's okay, Bucky is an expert at navigating confusing situations. He's been confused most of his life.] No, but that doesn't necessarily mean much. I lost some time recently. [He glances off to the side, and looks like he just bit into a lemon.]

[OK, that expression definitely makes it seem like a sore subject, so she's not gonna dig into it.]

No stress! So far no one here but me remembers life in Cair Paradisa, so you've got good company.

[He shakes his head.] It doesn't ring any bells, sorry. Were we friends?

Yeah, we were. [Just friends might be underselling it a bit. Bucky had been among her closer friends. He was one of the first people she met at the castle. And one of the first residents whose disappearance left Dairine an emotional mess.]

My name's Dairine Callahan. It's... good to see you again.

[luckybucky]

[There's a moment's pause before he replies.] There's someone else here with that name, isn't there? I've seen it on the roster. [But he hasn't quite pieced together that whole puzzle.] I'd introduce myself, but... [She apparently already knows. So instead she gets an uncertain smile.]

Pretty sure that's me, actually. [Dairine might still be fairly new, but she would image the roster lists all passengers. Which is admittedly a little creepy.]

[She smiles.]

Yeah. You need no introduction. [A beat.] You've changed up your hairstyle though. Felt like growing it out?

Huh. [He's just gonna take her word for it. It's not like he's looked at the thing recently.

He shakes his head in response to the question.] I just haven't gotten around to cutting it, really. I took scissors to it myself a couple of times, but it was too risky to go to a barber, and I'm... not sure I'm ready to see myself as myself again yet. [He frowns, because he knows how weird that sounds.] I'm still trying to reclaim myself.

Umm... [That is an... odd response, considering Bucky had short hair the last time Dairine saw him, and he had told her that he was going to die back home... From falling off a train.]

You didn't just... grow it long on the train?

[The question gives him pause, but he shakes his head.] No, I've only been here a couple of months. Are you sure you're not confusing me with somebody else that goes by Bucky? [Just a couple of tiny, minor details. Nothing important.]
