Llama Day 20- Video

For those of you who were busy during Della's get to know you session, I'm Death. Not a god thereof, just... Death.

Apparently it's not always common but life also falls under my domain. And Entrapta tells me there are a surprising number of people with soul location issues.

I might be able to help, if you're willing to talk to me about it. I'll be in the rock garden if you want to talk about it.

Ah...soul issues? I think I might.

[ It's not long before a blonde teenager in the purple uniform appears, a small hedgehog with green and pink leaves riding on her shoulder. ]

Hello, Ms. Death. My name is Mami, and I'm a lich...you know that term, right?

[Haneul doesn't have soul location issues per se - he knows where his and Lucy's are already, and he's not sure how you'd separate them at this point in any case - but he probably should talk to her, if only to confirm what he thinks she already knows about him. Them.

I can confirm that there are a number of them with their souls in an item or merged with another's.

I do, yes. I've seen a few different variations on the idea in my time.

Soldat takes a while to show up, in part because they're working, putting together meals for the train and for the mission. In part because they want to make sure nobody else is going to be there, too. In part because they're a little terrified of the very idea of putting their... life force, soul, whatever... back in their not-actually-their-original-body body.

But still. They're here, lingering a little by the door into the car, reluctant to approach immediately. But if Death looks, she'll definitely see the lantern, swung around in front of their chest on its strap instead of behind them, as the focal point of Soldat's "life".

[She gives him a friendly smile. She wants to help, that doesn't take the same form for everyone.]

Hi there.

[Haneul's not sure what form any help for him would even take.]

How are you doing?

[He's not sure where she'd been for the mission, or how it might have affected her or not affected her, but he still hopes she was okay for it, even though she's probably far, far better at dealing with this sort of thing than he is.]

That's an oddly specific pattern. It's not that common.

[She smiles at the raven, she has a certain fondness. And then she looks between them]

But then. Life is complicated.

That's true... but... well. My mother's the one who did this to me.

[He sighs and reaches up to scritch the bird carefully.]

As punishment for messing up and getting shot by a teammate. She said I asn't responsible enough to hold onot it.

[She gives him a moment to consider. She can see there's something unusual. Something that brought him here.]

It's not common where I'm from either, but neither is so many dying multiple times.

[They sigh a little, then approach. Slowly.]

I guess. I'm just not sure I want what Entrapta says you can do.

[There's clear advantages to having their life bound up in something they can protect-- just as there are clear disadvantages to that something being actually breakable. But more importantly, two of their headmates technically come from that thing.]

Ah, all right then.

{ She nervously fidgets, twisting a silver ring with a small embedded yellow stone on her finger. ]

I was...tricked into making a contract to gain magical power, I actually didn't know that I'd become a lich until recently. I use this power to protect everyone, but if I ever falter, there's a chance I'll lose control of it and hurt people. We have a plan to stop that if it happens, but it...obviously wouldn't be ideal.

[Danny approaches her with a certain degree of awkwardness.]

So... I don't think I have soul issues? [What exactly had happened to his soul when he half-died was another thing he tried not to think about.]I guess I was just kind of curious.

[Beetlejuice had no sense of personal space. Or personal hygiene, which made the former even more unpleasant for most people he encountered. The demon flopped down near Death, all fangy smiles.]

Hi! I'm dead. I was born dead---I'm a demon. Don't exactly have soul issues, I just guided the recently deceased through the door to the Netherworld.

...or...gently encouraged them to hang around uptop. I'm a Freelance Bio-exorcist, y'know. The best.

[Death nods]

I don't think anyone would want it to come to that.

[And then she thinks more about the first part]

They didn't tell you.

[And humans often know so little of souls, they might not know]

Better than most passengers right now.

[That's her best estimate, anyway. That was a difficult mission]

I'm... harder to affect with illusions. And it's harder to show me the same sort of things at my age.

Superheroes seem to make that one less common. But usually souls end up in the usual places throughout the process.

[Haneul had kind of figured. Not that nothing affects her, but her perspective is vastly different for a variety of reasons.]

You've seen a lot more than most of us have, probably.

Family can be even more complicated.

[No family does dysfunctional like a mythological family, after all. Mortals have a much smaller span of time to develop issues in]

But that seems awfully disproportionate.

[She can't really think of an infraction worthy of soul confiscation.]

I'm not going to force you to do anything you don't want.

[Not when it comes to the location of his own soul. She has strong opinions on people who do these things to others, but so much of that is about people being bound to their own souls]

But why don't we talk about the options?

Curious is also allowed. People usually have questions when I meet them.

[They are, after all, usually going through some pretty dramatic changes]

[She's met plenty of demons and his hygiene is somewhere in the middle all things considered. HIs words earn a raised eyebrow though.]
