Kazoo 16 - Video Post

[The video opens with a very somber-looking WangJi. Even more so than he normally looked for those who were actually able to tell. Even from the angle of the video, a very obvious pair of white ears from a rabbit kept bouncing into frame for a moment as WangJi made the post while holding Little Radish]

For those that knew him, Wei Ying... my husband... is no longer on the train. There are others still here, but he has departed the train.

[It was as simple as that.

For those that wish to find him, he can - predictably - be found in the Greenhouse with his two rabbits, Little Radish now snuggled in his arms and being a good comfort bunny while Little Carrot played with a random leaf that had been on the ground]

[Aww, human is so nice, bringing Little Carrot's leaf with him so he can still play with it and chew on it! This is why he liked him best! ... at least at this moment.

WangJi stood as well, keeping Little Radish to him. He was so used to moving while holding one of the rabbits that Little Radish wasn't even remotely disturbed from his spot in WangJi's arms as he stood up]

I am ready. [And he'd start heading in that direction, knowing Sizhui would come with him. Not that WangJi was hard to keep up with since he didn't even walk quickly most of the time]

[he's certainly doing his best, as always! whether it's for now or longer, he'll cherish this moment, at least until carrot decides he likes someone else (and even then he won't mind too much).

the way sizhui must hold his arms is somewhat awkward, but he'll do anything to accommodate their extra company, frankly.]

Mm. [just the softest noise of acknowledgment before he moves to follow his father, staying close, although not to the point it might seem overwhelming; he doesn't want to crowd him or whatever. while hanguang-jun might not mind either way, he does and sizhui's trying to be more mindful of such things.]

[Rabbits were fickle creatures as were most animals. It certainly wasn't something to take too seriously if Little Carrot decided he liked someone else... he'd eventually come back because that's how he was.

WangJi smiled faintly, walking beside his son. He could help but think that he was so grown up, but then again, that was a father response remembering when he was so very small and carrying the rabbits was much more challenging.

Finally, WangJi settled for saying...]

Little Carrot seems happy.

[if the rabbit decides he likes someone else, that's okay, sizhui won't take any personal offense to it whatsoever. so long as he can still come visit and pet them, there isn't really much to complain about. it also helps to know he wins their affection with food most times.

despite having to keep his one arm almost motionless against his chest, his opposite hand lifts, fingertips gently rubbing between the black bunny's ears.]

I do hope both rabbits are, [he admits softly. then, with a bit more confidence,] I've been trying to spend some time with them every day, but sometimes, I get caught up doing other things.

I'm sure they are both happy. [Little Radish was rather snuggled in there in WangJi's arms, looking content] They do appreciate having visitors.

[And he appreciated that his son came by to help look after them. He was a good son and WangJi was very proud of him.

It didn't take long to reach the dining car where they'd be able to get the tea. Both rabbits started getting excited at that point. They both know that they get food in here]

Here. [WangJi said this to Little Radish as he set him on a nearby table where he sat up, looking at WangJi and waiting for snack]

[much as sizhui wants to reach out and pet little radish too, he resists for now, still gently rubbing the other rabbit's head.] They both look it.

[do but also don't tell him aloud because then he might cry more and they don't need that.

whenever the bunny in his arms starts wiggling more excitedly, both of sizhui's arms clutch him to his chest, tight yet firm in case his little companion gets any ideas. once inside the car, however, he moves to set carrot down beside radish, taking what's leftover of the leaf and snapping a small piece off for the latter rabbit so they don't get into a scuffle while he fetches the fresh vegetables for them.

not only does he return with those, but he's also holding a small pear in the opposite hand with an actual, full-on grin.] The plot I have in the greenhouse car finally bore some fruit.

[Carrot did get the idea to stop squirming whenever Sizhui hugged him, settling down. Once in the car, he was happy to be set down next to his brother. If Sizhui were to watch, he'd see that Little Carrot almost seemed to try and offer his leaf to Little Radish.

That was until Sizhui returned with vegetables then they were both all about those instead. WangJi smiled, seeing what Sizhui was holding]

Good. It looks nice. Have you tried them yet?

[he's a good rabbit and the both of them are absolutely perfect while sizhui's off gathering snacks. first, he plucks up the green carrot tops and sets them out, followed by spinach leaves and some long strips of bell peppers.

then he sets the container aside, clutches the pear between both hands and shakes his head.]

Thank you! Not yet, I thought maybe we could try them together?

[WangJi watched as the rabbits waited maybe not so patiently for their snack, alternating sitting up on their hind legs to try and see what Sizhui was doing, but they didn't get off the table. As far as they knew, they were supposed to be on the table to get snacks]

That would be nice. I'd like to try it.

Perfect. [although, it seems the bunnies are more impatient than they are, so perhaps they ought to get first dibs. he moves again to collect a knife, returns afterward, already halfway through cutting off a slice of the pear which he sets on the table. he deftly halves it, quarters it then cuts it into thinner strips that he offers to little radish and baby carrot.

then another hunk gets cut off and sizhui hands this piece to his father instead.]

[The bunnies were definitely more impatient but they also wouldn't get off the table. They'd just run around and occasionally look at WangJi like "why aren't you getting us anything?". But they were definitely happy when the snack came over, taking the strips when offered and munching on them.

WangJi nodded his head in thanks as Sizhui cut another piece and offered it to him]

Thank you.

[And once he Sizhui was ready, he would try his piece]

[aw gosh, such well-trained little bunnies, impatience aside. it's understandable though, given the fact they're probably hungry, which is why sizhui had done his best to move quicksilver-like. he watches both of them first, gauging their reactions, looking ever so hopeful as they crunch everything down.]

You're welcome, [he nods in kind, cutting off a third chunk and then setting the utensil and remaining fruit-half aside.

sizhui holds up his piece, considering, eyebrows lifting with astonishment when wangji goes right on ahead and takes a bite. he follows suit, crunching an end off, chewing thoughtfully, humming delightedly then making certain to swallow before he remarks,] Wow, it— it's great...! [sweet, but not overbearing, with a citrus-sharp aftertaste that he doesn't seem to mind all that much; it's no wonder he sounds surprised.]

[Impatience was common when it was time for food, or they perceived it was time for food. Still, they remembered to stay on the table, no matter how excited they were, which WangJi was glad for. It was less likely they would be in someone's way.

WangJi took that bite of the fruit he had been given, taking a moment to savor it before he spoke] It is very good. Hopefully, your plant gives you more.

[letting them wander around the garden and-slash-or greenhouse cars is different; they are possibly less likely to get stepped on since it's where some other creatures are, but just even taking that chance is too much for sizhui, which is why he carries them most times.

he can't help an excited noise, taking another bite, chewing then swallowing before he pipes,] I'm glad you like it! Me too, and let's hope my other plants bear fruits and vegetables as well.

[To be fair, WangJi often carried them as well. Only when he was around and sitting there were they allowed full freedom to run around at the same time outside of the hutch. Little Carrot's expedition outside of the train with WangJi following him had been the closest one had gotten to freedom and even then he was not alone]

It would be nice if it did. Do you have many plants there?

[well, if that's the case, sizhui has let them go a ways down the train corridors from whatever room they're in at the time. he's always collected them before they get too far or if other passengers start arriving, however; the boy isn't rude, after all, and letting their pets wander aimlessly in peoples' way is downright discourteous.]

Yes, actually... I could name them all if you like? [because of course he remembers every single one.]

[The bunnies were good like that and behaved for them. Even the more hyper black rabbit didn't get away from WangJi when out of the greenhouse... even if he hop around like crazy inside sometimes.

WangJi smiled after a moment] Perhaps when we go back, you can show me them and tell me what they are then.

[Since of course, he wanted to see what his son had been working on as well]

[are there toys of any kind for them? if not, perhaps it's high time he gathers some materials and makes some, that way they have other ways to stay occupied too.]

Oh! Yes, that's an even better plan, because then I can check for more produce.

[a beat then he corrects with another smile of his own,] We can check, I mean.

[Toys they could definitely use some more of. WangJi had given them so entertainments, but variety was good, especially when their home was so small and predictable.

He nodded smiling] Yes, we can check. It would be nice to see all of the plants you have been growing.

[one day then, he'll go visit them with new toys in hand, that way they can switch it up here and there. (that, and he thoroughly enjoys spoiling them whenever he can.)] Okay, that sounds good.

Here, baba, [and he collects the bowl again, offers a handful of more bright green carrot-tops. for the rabbits, obviously, if that weren't clear.]

[He smiled faintly, pleased that his son was so willing to share something like that with him. Yes, it was simple, but just being together with him was very important]

I'm sure they will like that. [Yes, he was fairly sure the carrot tops were not for him. The rabbits took the carrot tops and started munching on them, very happy with their snack] They are very easy to please.

[some people may think it silly, him getting excited over sharing his vegetable garden, but lan sizhui doesn't care; whatever he does, if his father shows any interest, he's going to be excited about it, no matter how small.

good, because he's sure they are edible, though he'd imagine not tasty in their current state. far better food for real rabbits.] True. They are both still so good, though.

[WangJi didn't think it was silly at all. If he was excited about it, that's what he was excited about and he would appreciate the enthusiasm that came with it.

The rabbits were definitely much happier with it than WangJi would have been if he had been given a choice of food. If he'd had no other option and was very hungry, he probably would have]

They are. They have always been. Little Radish has been a good and supportive friend.

[that's because lan wangji is a good dad, supporting his son and all the things he enjoys! just like how sizhui shows interest in things his beloved hanguang-jun does.

alongside the carrot greens, he slices off more pieces of the pear, first offering some to his father then after his hands are free to do so, he takes the other ones and juliennes them for the rabbits. gosh, his heart is already so full, it's a wonder it doesn't just explode at that remark.]

I'm so glad to hear. [no, he will not get overly emotional again.] And I do hope it stays that way.

I hope so as well.

[WangJi would definitely accept the offer for more slices of pear, watching as the rabbits also got some. Little Carrot, more curious about everything sniffed at the tiny pieces of pear first before taking one and starting to munch on it. Once he had, Little Radish was now curious in them too]

They seem to like them as well.
