Kazoo 16 - Video Post

[The video opens with a very somber-looking WangJi. Even more so than he normally looked for those who were actually able to tell. Even from the angle of the video, a very obvious pair of white ears from a rabbit kept bouncing into frame for a moment as WangJi made the post while holding Little Radish]

For those that knew him, Wei Ying... my husband... is no longer on the train. There are others still here, but he has departed the train.

[It was as simple as that.

For those that wish to find him, he can - predictably - be found in the Greenhouse with his two rabbits, Little Radish now snuggled in his arms and being a good comfort bunny while Little Carrot played with a random leaf that had been on the ground]

[Toys they could definitely use some more of. WangJi had given them so entertainments, but variety was good, especially when their home was so small and predictable.

He nodded smiling] Yes, we can check. It would be nice to see all of the plants you have been growing.

[deferences]

[one day then, he'll go visit them with new toys in hand, that way they can switch it up here and there. (that, and he thoroughly enjoys spoiling them whenever he can.)] Okay, that sounds good.

Here, baba, [and he collects the bowl again, offers a handful of more bright green carrot-tops. for the rabbits, obviously, if that weren't clear.]

[He smiled faintly, pleased that his son was so willing to share something like that with him. Yes, it was simple, but just being together with him was very important]

I'm sure they will like that. [Yes, he was fairly sure the carrot tops were not for him. The rabbits took the carrot tops and started munching on them, very happy with their snack] They are very easy to please.

[deferences]

[some people may think it silly, him getting excited over sharing his vegetable garden, but lan sizhui doesn't care; whatever he does, if his father shows any interest, he's going to be excited about it, no matter how small.

good, because he's sure they are edible, though he'd imagine not tasty in their current state. far better food for real rabbits.] True. They are both still so good, though.

[WangJi didn't think it was silly at all. If he was excited about it, that's what he was excited about and he would appreciate the enthusiasm that came with it.

The rabbits were definitely much happier with it than WangJi would have been if he had been given a choice of food. If he'd had no other option and was very hungry, he probably would have]

They are. They have always been. Little Radish has been a good and supportive friend.

[deferences]

[that's because lan wangji is a good dad, supporting his son and all the things he enjoys! just like how sizhui shows interest in things his beloved hanguang-jun does.

alongside the carrot greens, he slices off more pieces of the pear, first offering some to his father then after his hands are free to do so, he takes the other ones and juliennes them for the rabbits. gosh, his heart is already so full, it's a wonder it doesn't just explode at that remark.]

I'm so glad to hear. [no, he will not get overly emotional again.] And I do hope it stays that way.

I hope so as well.

[WangJi would definitely accept the offer for more slices of pear, watching as the rabbits also got some. Little Carrot, more curious about everything sniffed at the tiny pieces of pear first before taking one and starting to munch on it. Once he had, Little Radish was now curious in them too]

They seem to like them as well.

[deferences]

[perfect, since now that he's finished, he can take the last few remaining pieces off then discard the unusable bits of the fruit. after sizhui returns from doing that and sees one rabbit already munching while the other is at least curious enough to examine some, he can't help grinning, head bobbing in agreement.]

They do. Surely that's a good sign?

[he would hope that if they were bad, nobody would consume them, rabbits included. but considering how he's nibbling at another chunk too, it's safe to assume they're alright.]

I think so.

[WangJi smiled a bit as he watched the rabbits eat, snacking on his own pieces of pear as the rabbits did the same]

Did you order the plants from the train?

[deferences]

Mmn. [like father, like son, even though sizhui's probably smiling wider. but that's just how he is and it doesn't take away from the fact he's been able to make his father smile after something not-so-good happening earlier.]

Actually, I used some of the seeds that were provided and then took others from ingredients I've cooked with.

[Yes, most likely wider. WangJi's smile was always subtle, but Sizhui was one of the few who got to see it the most]

Oh, I see. That was good planning, using the ones that come from the food. That way we are not so dependent on what the train provides.

[deferences]

[he counts himself lucky any and every time he's allowed to see it, regardless, and today isn't an exception.]

Yes, that's exactly right! Although, ah, I do hope the train doesn't make us go without. [or not anytime soon, at least.]

[achickenformylove]

I hope that they do not as well. We currently do not have a garden big enough to support everyone, let alone a carriage that would allow such a garden. So far, we haven't had to worry about that.

[deferences]

And hopefully, we won't have to. [a beat of silence as he contemplates.] We have magic users on the train. Someone is sure to have some type of power to help plants grow in excess in case it were to happen though, right?

[achickenformylove]

I hope so as well. It would be difficult and there are a lot who have not prepared for such a possibility. [He took another bite of his fruit] Yes, it is highly likely that some do have an ability that would be useful in that regard.

[deferences]

[he exhales a breath of relief, munches the last two bites of his pear, swallows and decides,] Then we should be absolutely fine. If anything, once I produce more food, I could ask if anyone would like a plot of their own to help grow extra produce, just in case.

[achickenformylove]

[WangJi nodded his head] That is good idea. It is better to be prepared on the chance something like that happens. I will also work on growing some extra produce.

[If nothing else, it would be good on missions because then fresh produce]

[deferences]

[‘i will also work on growing some extra.’ gosh, if sizhui's head moved any quicker, it might've snapped off his shoulders. he smiles wide though, clearly excited, head bobbing with affirmation while he offers.] Also a good idea!

And, if you would like, perhaps we could do some gardening together?

[WangJi saw the way his head snapped around and couldn't help a faint smile. Surprise]

Yes, I would like that. We should garden together.

[deferences]

[his heart can't handle this! seriously, sizhui's going to expire before their visit is over, but he's fine with it. best way to be taken out, let's be real.]

Marvelous! I'll have to find you one of these days, then. [and before little bunnies get any ideas, he's quick to pluck more carrot greens from the nearby bowl to lay on the table for them to continue munching at their leisure.] Is there anything particular you might like to plant? I've also been considering some flowers... maybe?

[No, don't expire. He didn't want his son to expire!]

I'm usually around. [Yes, that was a little bit of a joke since none of them were really going anywhere. The rabbits were more than happy to have more carrot greens to eat again and munched away] Flowers would certainly be nice. Perhaps potatoes if we are able.

[deferences]

[no worries, it'll take a whole lot more than that to put lan sizhui out of commission! (but it was pretty close.)

unsurprisingly, the joke gets a small smile from his son whose attention flickers between both rabbits, lowers to the nearby bowl then redirects back again after he's reached and plucked out a carrot stick.] Potatoes would be great! [he crunches half the vegetable, contemplating.] Mmm, maybe some other flowers from home? There are already lotuses, I've realized, and I'm so glad.

[It was true. There was probably a lot of things that WangJi could do without trying that would make someone expire from shock.

Little Carrot - fittingly - looked up as Sizhui picked up the carrot before returning to the snack that he had been given]

Yes, potatoes would be nice. [And oddly fitting] Hmm… I wouldn’t prioritize one flower over another. Any would be lovely. Though I do question the ones that are more sentient that are already here.

[deferences]

[sizhui glances toward the rabbit from his peripheral once little carrot's movement registers, but as he settles back down, he continues munching his own treat. a thoughtful hum on his end as he considers too, then he nods.

oddly fitting, indeed.] Understandable. [they really shouldn't pick just particular ones, to be fair, but which flowers would be best? he'll have to think about it longer, though until then, he's now thinking about the more sentient plants, which prompts him to mention:] Have you seen the Deku Baba?

[Of course, as most animals thought, Little Carrot believed all the food was for them, but he was being gracious and sharing with the humans.

WangJi nodded his head]

Yes, I have. That is the one I was thinking of. The rabbits are, of course, very weary of it, but it seems they have figured out how far they can be from it so it can't reach them.
