Kazoo 16 - Video Post

[The video opens with a very somber-looking WangJi. Even more so than he normally looked for those who were actually able to tell. Even from the angle of the video, a very obvious pair of white ears from a rabbit kept bouncing into frame for a moment as WangJi made the post while holding Little Radish]

For those that knew him, Wei Ying... my husband... is no longer on the train. There are others still here, but he has departed the train.

[It was as simple as that.

For those that wish to find him, he can - predictably - be found in the Greenhouse with his two rabbits, Little Radish now snuggled in his arms and being a good comfort bunny while Little Carrot played with a random leaf that had been on the ground]

I am so sorry, Hanguang-Jun. [Meng Yao understands his pain - in as much as he is able.] Do you require anything? Food? Tea?

[Knowing himself he rather spend alone time in insolation dealing with his grief. Losing that dear one, he is near inconsolable, and reading that, he feels very depressed]

I am very sorry. You have my condolences.

[To say he is still getting used to hearing the world 'husband' and Wei Ying in the same sentence would be putting it mildly. But he does understand what it is like to lose someone by that name even if not in that same kind of intimate relationship. And he knows that if this person shares much of his same past, that this is a pain he has felt far too many times in one lifetime.

Perhaps it isn't his place to try and comfort someone so similar to himself but it is hard to ignore as well.]

You can take solace in knowing he at least lives. But I am sorry you must endure being without.

[Wen Ning is confused. He's yet to actually meet with any versions of Wei Wuxian aside from the one he knows from his world - and he knows that man is still here. He's also unaware that any of them might look different.]

I... I'm sorry. I don't recall seeing him leave the train, so I must have missed it... I-If there's anything I can do, Second Master Lan...

( This time, he knows he's not accidentally telling the wrong Lan Zhan he's sorry for what's happened, because he's made that mistake on accident once already, and then ended up learning the Lan Zhan who knows their shared differing history is now onboard. It doesn't change anything else, other than letting him feel slightly less insane for having not lived the life of whatever his shorter, cuter selves have been through.

As it is, aside from a wave to the Deku Baba he's bizarrely fond of (any plant that can bite his hand off is worth respecting on some level), when he ends up finding Lan Zhan with the rabbits... he crouches down to offer a hand to Little Carrot, first, before lifting his gaze to Lan Zhan and Little Radish.

Sizhui had introduced him to both rabbits not long after his own arrival, a month and a half ago now. )

Lan Zhan...

( He shifts, then moves closer, more awkward out of not knowing what to do than out of anything else. He himself is not a married man (from anything he knows, not sharing the same context or the same informed concept of Lan headribbons), but... Lan Zhan's already mourned for him for over a decade. That hasn't been a difference in anyone's shared backgrounds that he's heard, yet. And this isn't the same kind of loss, this is one of distance, of time, but not death, not dying, but it's still a loss.

He's not thick enough not to understand that. Also, he has this one skill he's slightly sucking less at, albeit only because a bunch of people half his age keep teaching him how to hug, ergo: )

Can I... hug you?

( It's not a way of making things better, but it is... trying to offer comfort. He's still bony, and he's still more stiff than giving when it comes to hugs, but he's... not even sure if he's allowed to offer that? Does Lan Zhan prefer being left untouched? His does, for the most part. He's only allowed more of Wei Wuxian's infractions on his personal space over time, and half those out of sheer necessity. The falling asleep on his shoulder is perhaps the newest, and most intimate, he is outside of sharing beds while traveling, and that? That isn't unique. )

[ Xichen waited a while after the broadcast to find his brother. Then he simply came to sit next to him. No words, no actions, merely presence.

He had known for a long time that none of those could help Wangji when he was grieving for Wuxian. But he also knew that bearing the grief alone was harder, even for Wangji. ]

Mister Lan Wangji?

[Romeo had come to find him once he had seen Wei Wuxian leave the train. There's a lot of people called that now and a lot of people called Lan Wangji. But that man was La Wanji's husband...

He would need help to keep his spirits up...]

[ Madoka feels pretty bad once she hears the message. It can't be easy, losing someone that important to you - a husband, it doesn't really get more important than that, right?

And even though there may be.. a lot of rather similar-looking people on the train lately, she thinks that probably only makes it harder. Seeing your husband's face, but knowing it isn't him..

A little while - perhaps an hour or two - after the message, Madoka sneaks her way through the train to try and find the man. When she spots Wangji in the greenhouse, she slowly approaches him, her hands behind her back. ]

Sir..? [ She softly says. ] Um, can I talk to you for a moment..?

Hanguang-jun— [wait, no, what about something better instead?] Baba, are you okay? [stupid question though, he knows.]

May I come see you?

[better question, and while he figures lan wangji might want privacy, his son wants to hug him.]

[doesn't this feel kind of familiar? well, she wasn't their daughter, last time. it's different enough.

she arrives with a mug of tea in his worlds' best dad mug, and sets it down between them before scooping up Little Carrot.]

I know you'll just say there's no one to get mad at, but I still want to.

[Oh that hurts his heart and he grieves for him too. Even a different version as an uncle, he has to do something for his nephew-in-law]

I saw that, and I'm...I'm sorry. If there anything I could do for you, let me know. I have Lixue, my rabbit. She would like to meet you and your rabbits in the garden.

Thank you. [He was quiet for a moment at the question before he finally answered] Tea would nice.

[It is an odd feeling, being consoled by well... himself. But that was something that he clearly needed to get used to on this train]

Thank you. It has happened once before, but it is still difficult.

[It was definitely true that he had felt the same pain of losing WuXian. It was just a familiar feeling even if it had been a while since he had felt it.

It was strange that he was being comforted by himself, but that seemed to be par for the course on the train]

Thank you. I will remember that and be glad that he is home. I will survive without him.

[But surviving and being happy surviving were two different things]

He left the train when we arrived at the platform this morning. I don't know that there is much you can do to bring him back.

[Since he is being his normal literal self, sorry. Wen Ning couldn't bring him back on the train]

[Yes, WangJi had respect for the Deku Baba as well... as well as making sure that his rabbits avoided it. Luckily they were pretty smart and the first time it had snapped at someone in front of them was the last time they were curious about it.

Little Carrot looked up at the person who came over, ignoring his leaf and bouncing over to sniff the offered hand... even if it was a very small bounce.

Little Radish had been WangJi's therapy bunny the first time and he was still here being a therapy bunny. WangJi looked up hearing the familiar voice say his name. A Wei Ying, but not his Wei Ying.

But at the question, that thought disappeared for a moment. He was still Wei Ying. He nodded his head once]

Yes.

[He was far more open about being touched... though mainly with WuXian]

[Even later, WangJi could still be found with the rabbits. Little Carrot was rather amused by the leaf he had found was and bouncing around like he was trying to attack it.

WangJi looked over at his brother as he came over and sat down. He turned back to his rabbit continuing to pet it for a long few moments before saying simply]

He's gone.

[WangJi looked up hearing the voice, seeing the familiar face of Romeo]

Wei Ying has gone home.

[She was right. That certainly did make it harder, seeing WuXian's face, but it also wasn't HIS WuXian. Just another strange thing about the train.

He was still in the greenhouse with his rabbits when Madoka came in. He looked up at her and nodded his head] Of course.

[If it was about train-related business, he couldn't neglect it just because he was sad about WuXian being gone. He gestured to the spot in front of him if she wanted to sit, balancing Little Radish with one arm. If she did sit, Little Carrot would bounce over to see her]

[yeah, it's...odd. He's being polite to offer his sympathies because it's proper]

You won't oppose my company? [To make it less awkward. He runs through his black hair nervously, but he is worried for himself and how it affects him. No one stay on the train last forever]

I can show up in my other form. It's easier being a cat, and my cat likes you.

[It was always good to hear his son's voice. He had gotten him through many dark times so long ago and it seemed that he was still here to be able to do that. It meant a lot more than he would ever be able to say.

Especially when he dropped the formalities]

Physically, yes. [Physically, he was okay] Yes, you may.

[Yes, this had happened before. But he had more family now than he had then.

Including one who came right to find him with a mug of tea and set it down for him. He glanced over at it, unable to help the faint smile at seeing which mug it was as she scooped up Little Carrot, who flailed a moment as though trying to retrieve the leaf before settling into her arms]

You can still want to. I do as well. [He set Little Radish in his lap to pick up the tea] Thank you, A-Qing.

Thank you. I will let you know. I'm sure they would like to meet another rabbit.

[If nothing else, it was a distraction from thinking about WuXian]

No, I won't. [He didn't exactly want to be alone. He wasn't going to complain that someone was willing to come]

If you would like.

I'll be there to join you.

[It's a matter of using his youkai's magic to shapeshift into his other form and let his bakeneko possessed him. Once he becomes a cat, he becomes a calico cat with his orange, black, and white patches of fur and on his fours, walks out through the carriage to meet up with him.

He meets up with him in the greenhouse and he meows at him, looking up at him with his yellow feline eyes, and reaches out at his robes with a paw]
