Video to All | Bassoon day 28 | also action welcome!

[Romeo's face grins through the screens. It's been a pretty scary few days and he's been trying to keep his spirits up as much as he can and to help everyone else do the same. It had been pretty tricky though!

But then there had been a message on the screens and Romeo had gone to investigate and found the pumpkins, he knew what they were because he had asked when they had first found them on the platform! But he hadn't known you could make faces out of them!]

Does anyone's world have the tradition about putting faces in pumpkins? I don't think my world did! I didn't know what a pumpkin was before so I guess we didn't! How do you do it?

Also what can you make with pumpkins? They are vegetables right so we could make soup or mash it? Does it taste good mashed? Or we could fry it and eat it with rice or noodles. I'm not sure it would go well with fish but there's still a lot of fish in the store rooms.

I know it's not Blue teams time to cook but tasty food always makes me feel better so if anyone wants to come and have some food I am going to try and make something with a pumpkin and make a face with one as well!

[Ignis nodded his assent to Romeo's comment.]

Let's start by figuring out how many we're cooking for.

[And this has him pulling out the notes he had for pumpkin soup.]

Um... I can go and count all the names if you want sir!

[There's lots of people on the train, but not so high a number to be too many to count he doesn't think!]

[Ignis shakes his head and looks over the bounty of the pumpkins.]

No need if we're making this for everyone. However, let's check our list to make sure no one is allergic.

Okay sir! What does allergic mean? What list do we have? [He gets a feeling he's going to learn a lot from mister Ignis!]

Allergic means that if you eat something, there's an adverse reaction to ingesting it.

[Finding the list, he then handed it to Romeo.]

There it is, and see if you can find anyone who can't have pumpkin.

[Ignis was fine with it having had it himself. But others might not be so fortunate, and part of cooking for everyone meant finding out how new ingredients would be received. Of course there was always the gamble that someone might not know they were allergic to something until they actually had whatever it was.]

[So it made you sick? That wasn't good! It was important to check then!

Romeo took the list and frowned as he began reading it, bringing his finger to point at each name and the list of things they couldn't eat.

It took a while, but he was determined to make super sure that they didn't accidentally make anyone sick!]

[Ignis smiled at the seriousness in which Romeo was taking this task, but if the boy looked at him he'd get a poker face. Patiently he waited a few minutes and then he piped up.]

Is anyone allergic to pumpkin then? Or are we clear to give it to everyone?

[He was curious about this matter himself, but it was important to check on allergies first.]

I don't think so, mister Ignis! I think we can give the soup to everyone! [That was good, it would be sad if anyone couldn't have the soup because Romeo was sure it was going to be very tasty indeed!]

[He nodded.]

Then we'll get started right away.

[Looking over the small pumpkin harvest, he smiled and read over his recipe notes. Renee had been very helpful with providing details so Ignis washed his hands and grabbed two knives, handing one to Romeo.]

[Romeo took the knife carefully and watched Ignis so he could make sure to do everything right!]

What do we got to do first, sir?

[Ignis halved the pumpkin with his knife and then looked over the recipe.]

First we take the seeds out and clean the insides.

[He looked back at Romeo and smiled.]

Then we'll bake these halves and once they're done, we'll take the insides out.

[Romeo peered at the pumpkin once it was cut in half. It looked so strange! They had to take the seeds out? He reached in and started picking the seeds and putting them to the side. This could take a long time!] How do we clean it? With water?

[Ignis smiled. This was his first time ever tackling a pumpkin and it was great that he had a member of his team to share this particular memory with. But he said nothing and headed over to the sink to grab something to scoop with.

He went through the various utensils before deciding on one. Grabbing a bowl next, he set these down next to Romeo.]

Scoop them into the bowl and we should have this done in no time.

Yes sir! [That would be much faster! He began scooping the seeds, picking up a whole lot more than only one and putting them in the bowl.] Are the seeds good to eat as well? What about the skin? Is it like an apple or a banana?

[He had to shake his head here though his smile remained.]

I'm told that we should roast the seeds.

[Romeo was nothing if not an inquisitive sort apparently.]

From what I'm told apple skin can be eaten but not banana. I don't believe the skin is edible either, but if I heard correctly, once it's all cleaned out and we bake it, that will come off.

Yes sir! Apple skin is really yummy but banana skin tastes really bad! [Romeo had learned that the hard way. He would rather not try and eat the pumpkin skin if it was going to taste as bad as that!]

Roast the seeds? In the oven? Are we going to bake it before we put it in the soup?

[He just gave an unsure face at the banana skin comment.]

Yes, we're going to roast them in the oven but cover them in salt first as I understand. And we'll also bake the pumpkin there before it becomes soup.

[He said a silent thank you to Renee for the recipehs.]

Okay! [He skipped over to the oven.] What temperature do we need to put the oven at?

[Green eyes looked down at his recipeh, pausing in his own cleaning of the pumpkin.]

Says here three hundred degrees.

[Ignis turned back to the task at hand, making sure he got everything done. Then he consulted his paper again. It wasn't like him to share the kitchen, but this was his team and they were the exception, as he would do for Madoka.]

Okay sir! [Three hundred degrees it is! He takes a moment to concentrate as he gets to the oven, he doesn't want to get it wrong!

Soon though the temperature was set and he returned to Ignis' side.] What do we do next?

Are all of the seeds out of your pumpkin?

[Ignis was finishing his and had started putting them in a bowl to clean off. He grabbed a tray to lay the cleaned ones out once that was done so they could be salted before going into the oven.]

Yes! I think so! [He peered into the pumpkin, it was almost big enough for his whole head to fit in! And it was all clean of seeds.] Yep we got them all!

[He watched what Ignis was doing and copied him, cleaning the seeds and putting them on the tray.]

[Ignis nodded]

Alright.

[Taking the cleaned seeds, he patted them down with napkins in a small attempt to dry them a bit before laying them out on a tray and salting them.]

Once the oven is done preheating, we'll put these in and we'll get the pumpkins ready.

Yes sir!

[He skipped over to check. Yes! The little light had gone off which meant it was hot enough! He went back to collect the tray and carried it very carefully to the oven.]

[While Romeo did that, Ignis got another tray prepared and set the pumpkin halves on there. Then he put that in the oven too.

Moving around, he started cleaning up.]

Now we wait.
