Video to All | Bassoon day 28 | also action welcome!

[Romeo's face grins through the screens. It's been a pretty scary few days and he's been trying to keep his spirits up as much as he can and to help everyone else do the same. It had been pretty tricky though!

But then there had been a message on the screens and Romeo had gone to investigate and found the pumpkins, he knew what they were because he had asked when they had first found them on the platform! But he hadn't known you could make faces out of them!]

Does anyone's world have the tradition about putting faces in pumpkins? I don't think my world did! I didn't know what a pumpkin was before so I guess we didn't! How do you do it?

Also what can you make with pumpkins? They are vegetables right so we could make soup or mash it? Does it taste good mashed? Or we could fry it and eat it with rice or noodles. I'm not sure it would go well with fish but there's still a lot of fish in the store rooms.

I know it's not Blue teams time to cook but tasty food always makes me feel better so if anyone wants to come and have some food I am going to try and make something with a pumpkin and make a face with one as well!

You have a phone? [Romeo nodded and took it carefully, looking at the timer.]

Can you phone people or does it not work? Can you go on the big library... the internet?

[He shakes his head at the question. The internet is a big library? That would be a grand thing indeed.]

I can't call anyone and no internet either. But I used to be able to do those things.

Oh. [He nodded.] I had a phone in heaven, it was lots of work to learn how to use it all but once I learned it was really useful!

[Searching the internet-library for all the big words Hibiki had used meant that he didn't get told off for being stupid as much!]

A phone in heaven?

[Ignis couldn't imagine such a thing to exist, but Romeo would know more than he himself would.]

Well yes, phones are quite useful.

[How in the world did phones work in heaven?]

Yes! I got it when I first went there but I didn't know how to use it or what it was. My friend showed me how to use it though and it was really useful because I could talk to all my friends and not have to search for hours for them and I could look up things like words if I didn't know what they meant and it was much quicker than a dictionary!

[Ignis is wondering if this is even a possible thing.]

You can phone your friends from heaven..

[Okay that sounded weird even suggest..]

And while you were there..you phoned those not there with you?

[Wait, did this mean that Romeo was among the dead then?]

Oh. No sir. I could phone my other friends in heaven. I don't know anyone not in heaven. Well I do now because I know you and the other people from the train but I don't really got any memories from before I died and I think I lived on another different world then.

[He sighs] It's a bit complicated!

[This made Ignis actually worry less now that he knew. So this little one was like Tony. Ah, well this talk of talking to other friends in heaven made a lot more sense now. The boy got a smile and he sighed.]

You don't need to explain if it's complicated. But you can relax here, you're among friends.

[Just because the boy had passed in his world, it didn't mean that Ignis wasn't going to work his ass off to protect this boy.]

I am sir! It's good that there's so many friendly people on this train!

[There had been lots of friendly people in the heavens as well so that was good! Even though he misses all his friends there he is glad that he has found another place full of nice people!]

[He smiled but only slightly.]

It has been rather interesting to meet so many different people. Fortunately they've all been rather friendly so far.

[Six help anyone that threatened the children on board, especially those on Ignis' team.]

They have!

[And mister Ignis was one of the most friendly. Romeo was really glad to have met him.]

How long before the seeds are all cooked, sir?

We'll check them now.

[Ignis put on his mitts and opened the oven door. They were perfect in Ignis' eyes and he took them out, leaving the pumpkins in there. The timer went off and the advisor reset it.]

It won't be long before the rest of it is ready.

[Finding salt, he placed the thinnest layer on the seeds.]

Give them a moment to cool and we'll see how they came out.

Wow they look so tasty! [He had followed Ignis over though he had been careful to stay back when Ignis had opened the oven. He watched how he prepared the seeds and grinned at him.]

But best we don't burn our fingers!

Quite.

[Half scooping the seeds up with a spatula, he deposited them into a bowl and set them on the table, preparing the tray to get washed. There was a nod and a smile at Romeo.]

Do try some and let me know how they are. And remember, no burning yourself.

"I won't burn myself sir!" He grinned and reached into grab a couple of seeds. They were hot to the touch but not so much to burn his fingers. He blew on them until he thought they were cool enough to eat and then popped them into his mouth.

They were crunchy and delicious. He grinned. "Yummy!"

Ignis smiled, always pleased to see someone enjoy his cooking even if was a simple thing to make. He didn't care if Romeo ate every single one of the seeds and he turned away in case he was smiling too much. So he busied himself with washing the pan to give him something to do.

"We'll see if the pumpkin halves come out as well as the seeds did."

Romeo didn't eat them all. He could have. He's a shinki and shinki never get full no matter how much they eat, they always feel a hunger inside them. But he's aware of that and knows not to be greedy. So he just eats a handful, savouring the taste. "You should have some too, mister Ignis."

He nods and goes over to the oven again, "I can check them sir!" He finds the oven gloves, he knows how to be careful whilst cooking!

"I plan to." He lifted the pan to start cleaning the bottom of it. The seeds had smelled good coming out of the oven so he was happy his first foray into the whole pumpkin business had worked well.

"Just be careful." Ignis realized the boy already knew that, but some habits of his own would just never go away. He shook his head, and turned back to what he was doing.

"I will be sir!" He nodded with a smile and then concentrated on carefully lifting the pumpkin pieces out of the oven. They looked perfect! He very carefully put the tray on top of the oven and then turned it off.

"They are done sir!"

He stood there after setting the newly washed pan down. Romeo was careful of course but Ignis was ready to assist regardless just in case.

When the pumpkin halves were set down, he went over to the stove and looked at them and then at Romeo. "You did a wonderful job."

"Thank you sir." He smiled, "You did too! It was very good teamwork."

They looked very delicious.

He couldn't help but smile. Teamwork was the one thing he wished his team to accomplish. If all could learn how to work with each other and cover for the weaknesses they'd be quite the cohesive fighting unit. And if all that began in the kitchen, so be it.

"Quite. And now I'll see what's needed to turn them into other things, such as soups and desserts."

Food was a glorious thing indeed.

Romeo nodded enthusiastically. "Okay sir! Just tell me what to do to help!"

As long as Ignis didn't mind him being there Romeo was happy to help with cooking delicious things for everybody!
