[Romeo's face grins through the screens. It's been a pretty scary few days and he's been trying to keep his spirits up as much as he can and to help everyone else do the same. It had been pretty tricky though!

But then there had been a message on the screens and Romeo had gone to investigate and found the pumpkins, he knew what they were because he had asked when they had first found them on the platform! But he hadn't known you could make faces out of them!]

Does anyone's world have the tradition about putting faces in pumpkins? I don't think my world did! I didn't know what a pumpkin was before so I guess we didn't! How do you do it?

Also what can you make with pumpkins? They are vegetables right so we could make soup or mash it? Does it taste good mashed? Or we could fry it and eat it with rice or noodles. I'm not sure it would go well with fish but there's still a lot of fish in the store rooms.

I know it's not Blue teams time to cook but tasty food always makes me feel better so if anyone wants to come and have some food I am going to try and make something with a pumpkin and make a face with one as well!

Sometimes they are strange prayers but we try and answer them all, even if they are tricky! [He grinned.]

Is Halloween not a festival at a temple then?

No, it's not really a temple thing. I think in America they like. Go house to house and stuff. We don't do that in Japan. We have street festivals and a lot of the restaurants will have themed decorations and food, and there are like. Stamp rallies for the kids to collect stamps and get candy. Things like that. A lot of people cosplay too!

Oh there was an America in the world I was from too, it was a long way from Japan! Why do they go from house to house? Is it to scare bad spirits away? Street festivals are fun and they always have tasty food! What are stamps? How do kids collect them? And cosplay? What's that?"

But easier to reach with planes I guess. And I dunno why it started. They call it 'Trick or Treating' - kids get dressed up in costumes, and they go knocking on doors. You either have to give them a treat, or they're allowed to trick you. We don't really do that sort of thing in Japan, so it's street festivals instead. The stamps are a way for the kids to get treats but not to bother strangers. You get like... a stamp book or a sheet and it'll have places on it, like... the supermarket down the road, and the local shrine... stuff like that. And the kids go to all the locations and get a stamp from them, or a sticker or something, and a treat. And if they get all the stamps, then they usually get something extra.

Cosplay is a ... a portmanteau word. It's short for 'costume play' - it means you dress up like something, maybe a character in a game or a tv show, or just a random character like a witch or a vampire.

Trick or treating sounded fun but maybe a bit naughty if you were allowed to trick people. As long as it was alright with everyone he guessed. The stamp collecting sounded fun too and so did dressing up! Romeo liked dressing up!

"Oh I've done cosplay then before! I just didn't know it was called that! We had a book party at our temple and all dressed up as characters from our best book! I was Gon the little fox and it was really fun! Did you used to dress up and get stamps?"

"There you go then! That sounds pretty cool."

He shakes his head. "Nah. It's only really become a thing recently and I'm a bit too old for that sorta thing."

Or more accurately, busy with his "job"

"You're too old? Do you have to be a kid to be able to do it?"

That was a bit sad. He knows lots of grown ups who like dressing up. Lots of grown ups had dressed up for the book party!

"Eh... not reaaaaally." He hedges. "But like. Once you get to a certain age people start... looking at you a bit weird if you do the stamps. It's supposed to be for little kids, after all. To help them enjoy themselves."

"Well grown ups should be allowed to have fun too!"

Fun was important and he knows that there's plenty of grown ups who still need help keeping their spirits up and who don't know about fun or friendship or anything like that!

"Do you want to come and help me make pumpkin faces! That should be fun!"

He grins at him.

"You know, you're right. I haven't done it before though - and I'm guessing you haven't either, huh?"

"I haven't! I never heard about it before today!" But it sounds fun! And if Kaito has never done it either then they can learn about it and figure it out together! Teamwork is always lots of fun!

"Well, we'll have to work it out together. Can't be that hard, right?"

He grins.

"I'll be right over."

"I'm sure we can work it out!" He grinned again, "I'll see you soon!"

With that he turned off the ICP and went to start sorting pumpkins!

[ Kaito does the same, and a short time later he sticks his head through the door, looking for Romeo ]

Hey!

[ He grins and saunters over ] That's a fine selection of pumpkins. Which one were you thinking of starting with?

Hello! [He grinned] It is! Isn't it! There are lots of pumpkins. I don't know which one to chose. What makes a good pumpkin?

No clue. [ he admits cheerfully ]

But logically... we probably want a fairly big one, and probably one that isn't like. So ripe the walls are squishy.

Right! Big and not squishy! [Easy enough to test, he went down the row of pumpkins poking at a few that were on the big side, testing the squishiness of them.]

Maybe not too rough? Although I suppose that could create interesting textures...

[ Kaito tests a few of them ]

Why don't we try with this one?

[Not too rough either? Right! He continued poking a few, trying to find a good one. When Kaito called over he went to his side and poked the pumpkin that he had found.]

I think that one will be a great pumpkin!

[ He grins and rolls up his sleeves ]

So I suppose the first step is to hollow it out ... can you cook, Romeo-kun? It feels a bit wasteful to chuck out the insides, but I can't cook so...

I can cook! It was one of my jobs in the temple so I learned to make lots and lots of tasty food! I never cooked with pumpkin before but I'm sure we can make something yummy!

[He agrees they shouldn't waste the insides if they took them out, that wouldn't be good at all!] How do you hollow it?

Excellent, I'll leave that part to you.

[ He eyes the pumpkin ]

Well, I guess if we take off the top, we can maybe scoop out the insides with a spoon?

I'll make sure you get some of the yummy food when I make it! [Cut the top off? He studies the pumpkin and nodded.] We will need a big knife for that!

[And off he goes to find one, looking through drawers until he finds a big knife.]
