"Have 3 issues I wanted to bring up. First is, I hate to bother people, but I just finished making a batch of candies and haven't enchanted them yet."

With this she holds up a little white sugar candy with a pink kitty head in the center, "If anyone wants to try them, and let me know how they are. Well, since I don't have any actual molds and the only flavorings were some tree sap that went with all the bacon that was used, I could use the critique."

"Second is, does anyone do blacksmithing here? I haven't seen a proper forge, but I haven't wanted to dig through everything. Privacy is almost nonexistant here and I don't want to but in on someone's personal space if there is one in hiding."

"Finally, and this is going to sound a bit odd since I look maybe twelve, but. I haven't really have a lot of experience with living like this in as long as I can remember. Watching the exploits of others on a giant screen, going on about love and what not, birthdays. These are all things I've seen, and I know they have meaning... I just haven't really paid attention to them in so long, I've kind of forgotten if they are actually important, or just a way of passing the time till the next disaster."

I can't help with the blacksmithing thing, but two out of three ain't bad, right?

I'm totally down for taste-testing, so sign me up. And... yeah, love and birthdays are pretty important! They usually go hand in hand, too.

"I don't actually remember when my birthday is. I kind of forgot a lot of things over the years. Was always to busy."

"Still, if you want to try some candies I'm in the dining car!"

"Sure, I'll head on over. And we'll totally sort out the birthday thing. Where are you now?"

This girl was going to get a birthday, come hell or high water.

"I'm in the dining car. Found it easier to cut the things in here than in the kitchen proper. It was too hot in there and the temperature was causing the candies to sweat a bit."

"Here I go!"

True to her word, Della was soon at the dining car, knocking three times on the side of the door to announce her presence. "I hear there are treats waiting for me!"

Sakura tosses over several sugar candies, much in the same way a gambler would toss poker chips to a paper plate on the other side of the table, "Give them a shot. I don't know if this maple sap is any good, but I figured when in Hess, so as the Hess do."

She shrugs at that.

Dining car

Glorfindel walks in and over to where she is. "Hello, I would like to try the candy. I might also help partially with the forge issue. I'm not good as a blacksmith or metal worker, unlike Feanor, Curufin, or Nerdanel, but I can act as the forge itself."

Then he smiles at her. "You sound a little like one of my guardsmen who spent the good part of three hundred years out on assignment. They had some trouble re-integrating into society at first."

"Oh? The forge. Fire magic?"

With that she pulls apart a few of her poker chip sized sugar candies and offers them over.

"As for the other thing. I've spent over 700 years as an ageless oddity. Back home I founded the country I lived in, just because I was tired of not having people to do all the things I didn't know how to. I've been less of a person and more of a terrifying founding spirit for longer than I want to admit."

"That's remarkably easy to have happen," Glorfindel said with sympathy. "When you are treated as a legend and not as a person. I got that a bit when I was reborn, but fortunately I made a couple of very stubborn friends who treated me like a real person. Still get a little of the other, but not so much after almost 5000 years, thank Eru."

He popped one of the candies into his mouth. "Oh, that's nice! Elves have a bit of a sweet tooth," he told her with a smile.

"Not fire magic. Not exactly. But I can heat the metal in my hands." It was far safer to be touching it to do it.

"I can't really blame them. I brought magic to that world. But honestly, it wasn't due to altruism or anything. I was just bored, and I wanted an excuse to bring people together to build an actual city. One with running water."

She shivers a bit, "I hate wells. I hate the concept of dragging water from a hole in the ground across the country to a place it can be useful."

Watching him eat she nods a bit, "Ah, makes sense. Are those candies worth enchanting, or was that maple stuff not good?"

"I'd say anything's as important as you want it to be in life, but personally? I think everyone should get to enjoy things like that! Birthdays, love--"

[ Ah. ]

"You don't have anyone close to you, Sakura?"

[grannyofthebolt]

"No. There was my sister, but.... I want to say we grew apart, but more, I realized she was absolutely nuts. And Reagan had his family... Other than that and the group I was traveling with, I'm just granny. I hate being called granny."

[blitzcheer]

"Oh? ...What about auntie? Is auntie better?"

He was going to say more but this is very important too!

"Not really. It is still weirdly familiar yet distant. Sakura is fine at that point. Why? I don't remember training you from diaper age."

"It's not that serious- we use 'em where I'm from too. It's all about how you use it!"

And really beside the point right now, but he's had a few words about referring to people as such while being here.

"Anyway, where are you? Talking in person's more fun."

"What do you need blacksmith for?"

Fëanor is more cautious with offers of help now. So spill the details kid, maybe you'll get him interested.

"I need to have a new magic rod made. One that preferably won't catch on fire after the first lightning bolt, or dry out and whither the first time I channel other magic through it to bonk someone trying to get too close. I'm not really asking for the moon and the stars, just a simple pattern I have and leave the rest up to the smith's muses."

"A staff? That's easy. What happened to your last one?"

Because there was last one, wasn't it? If it was destroyed he would want to know how. It's a lot easier to built-in safeguards when you know what are you protecting the item from.

"Not a Staff, a Rod. There are subtle differences, but um. It didn't show up with me here, and I haven't had the materials to do much more than improvised ones here which channel mana poorly. I mean the last one at home I destroyed just.... Got old. A few hundred years will do that when channeling lightning and negative energy into a scythe blade."

A Stick You Channel Energy Through is A Staff. A rod is just a long piece of metal!
Can't those people really even get the terminology right?! It's not that difficult!

"Fine, so you need a metal stick. Great. How long?" There's a significant pause before he adds. "Did just say your previous one had a blade? That's even less a rod."

Here it means that you'll be able to learn so much more. I would be happy to continue sprouting about love to you if you'd like.

"I'm not so certain there is much to learn. I mean you are welcome to keep going, but I have a kind of horrible personal issue with the whole thing. Being stuck in a twelve year old body is... It leaves doubts."

I guess being stuck like that does suck, but you also know love extends to family and friends, right?

"Other than my sister, I don't really remember my family. They went away a very long time ago.... I wish I could remember how, but I don't."

"And as for my sister, she's crazy. Destroy the world because she realized the man she loves isn't in love with her crazy. I had to stop it once and I see it happening again now that she's 'gotten over' the last one by declaring her love for my best friend back home. Terrifying."

That's sad to hear. About your family and not remembering how they went away.
