fiddlesticks 25, video from standard coach: open to all
Sooooo, not being able to talk to most of the train that day sucked, huh? I don't know what to think about any of that, but since we can talk to each other now, I was thinking: How about we share where we're from, and see who's from worlds like ours?
And who speaks the same languages too! An actual list be better if that ever happens again, but for now, tell us about the kind of place you're from, what makes home home to you! You got kings or dragons? Machines? Portals to other worlds? Talking sea life? You just trying to get through school?
I'll go first to give you guys an idea, but share whatever you feel like!
( ooc: this is open to all, meaning feel free to put up a post and chat with other characters! )

[ He's waving it off, even! ]
It's a really beautiful world though, with the best sunsets. And man, do I miss the sun. It has tiny villages around by the seas, and we have animals called chocobos if you've heard of 'em! Not everyone's got one, but we use them to ride and get around, and boats. There's an airship flying out there somewhere too that got found, and who knows? Maybe there'll be more someday. We've got a people called the Al Bhed who're big on old tech, and I hear people are trying to dig up the past these days there!
[ Which is nice. He's glad for that. ]
Anyway! For what we have... there's magic, and you've got some fiends--or monsters, or whatever you call them--around, and there was a big religion around people used to follow, but I don't know about that now. If you heard me talk before here, you know about blitzball--the best sport around!
--ahaha, [ he laughs, rubbing the back of his head, ] okay, I don't want to keep going on forever, so I'll let the rest of you have a turn.
video;
[ JUST SAYING. Most of the other stuff Tidus says makes sense to him to some extent, and some of the other stuff he already knew.. but that first part is exactly what makes his world sound unique in the first place! ]
no subject
I mean...yeah, I guess, but I didn't really live it.
[ what does that even mean ]
no subject
Live it? Does that have to do with that thing you talked about before? [ See, being considerate may be a general Inigo trait, but not blurting things out like a dumbass comes a little less natural. He's trying right now though! Just in case Tidus doesn't want others to know about him having ended up in some other place before? ] Or is it just something from way in the past?
no subject
It's just a really long history lesson... but since you asked for it! You ready? There aren't as many dragons involved as yours.
no subject
[ I mean, no dragons? How can a world be cool without them! ]
But.. sure. I guess I've asked for it now, so I'll listen.
no subject
[ Let him do some dramatics, straightening his shirt and giving a cough and a 'ahem!'. ]
Okay, so one thoooousand years ago...!
no subject
'kay, so. Back in the past, everywhere used a lot of tech as far as I know. Or it got really popular, and that had something to do with a war that ended up taking place. You had summoners--people who could summon beings to fight, and then you had another big city, filled with machines called machina.
The two cities fought, and the summoner city was losing. So the people left decided to use what they had left to make a summon... that summon being Sin.
[ His voice has been neutral, normal for the most part until now, where he sighs some as he speaks. ]
I don't think they meant it to do what it did...but it basically destroyed everything. The other city, theirs--everywhere. Nobody knew why it showed up--well, not the regular people. But a summoner called Yunalesca came up with a way of destroying Sin for a while, and that became the one way people knew how to take it down. Machines didn't really work, and people thought that's why Sin had shown up in the first place -- because everyone got too lazy and used too many.
So, because people started to think machines were the problem and Sin was always destroying everything... everyone lived a simpler life. They followed a religion they thought would help them get rid of Sin one day, and summoners would...
[ He pauses, his mouth frowning. ]
...they'd give up their lives to defeat Sin. To bring peace to Spira, even for a while.
They thought it was the only way.
no subject
It's why he takes it in quietly, and for once seriously, without acting like a total jackass over it. ]
And.. did they defeat Sin? Or is that still yet to happen?
no subject
Yeah, Sin's gone. Yuna defeated it--and the aeons Yuna summoned helped, and the other guardians with us. The Al Bhed and the rest of Spira. Everyone played a part.
[ He speaks coolly than with an excitable energy that might be expected, but no less proud. ]
We got rid of the one summoning Sin from within. And now...Spira's getting to heal.

And second, it's kind of a big deal if your world just decided to abandon the good shit for some reason. What the hell?
[You're weird and Reno is so glad Meteorfall didn't completely wipe out technology in his world. What kind of ass-backward would his world be if that had happened? This guy's kind.]
no subject
[ Give him a breeak. ]
But fine, fine. There was a big war a thousand years ago between a summoner city and a city that used machines. When it was turning out the summoner city was losing, they decided to create a giant summon that'd basically keep coming back a year after it was defeated, 'cause nobody really knew the right way to take it out. So you've got this big fiend going around destroying everything, and especially any big cities.
[ He sighs, disliking the explanation so far, but regardless. ] So because most of the world was getting destroyed by this thing, some people got together and made a religion saying that if you followed it, you stopped using machina and you repented, Sin--what they called the summon--would stop coming back.
So after a thousand years of dealing with a giant flying whale that'd attack your villages once in a while, and letting summoners go off to sacrifice themselves to take it down for a while, that's the way it ended up.

[Man, his world had this shit easy. At least they were bouncing back and Sephiroth and WEAPON and all that shit were (mostly) gone and done with by now. They even still had cell phones!]
Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's the definition of insanity, ya know.
Why the hell didn't anyone think to try something different, yo!?
no subject
Even people who came together to protect villages and tried to take on Sin with the Al Bhed got disgraced for trying. [ He frowns, shoulders slumping with a breath taken. ] No one knew the real deal behind Sin 'cept the ones at top. And even they didn't think there was any other way of taking down Sin.
[ He spreads his hands. ] On top of that... people dying in Spira makes them come back as fiends. And Sin's body was made from the dead too.
[ Tidus's sombre tone = the reason he didn't open up with this story. ]
no subject
You know what... people are idiots. I'm just gonna go with that, yo. People. Are. Idiots.
[But especially your people, Tidus. Spirans are fucking retarded.]
no subject
Well, it's over now. Sin's gone, the truth got out, and the world's changing.

They aren't a creature I'd heard of before.
no subject
[ That seems to be a regular! ]
I didn't know about chocobos for a while either, actually. I lived away from the rest of Spira. You could say we were closed off from the rest of the world.
no subject
How... Sorry... I don't understand.
no subject
Closed off? I mean just...the rest of the world. Spira's mostly a big piece of land, with some islands around it. And uh, where I'm from...
[ He takes both his hand and waves them to the side. ]
We were really far away from the rest of that! So... I didn't know anything that was going on. There is more to it, but...
[ He makes a grim face, shaking his head. ]
Well, it's not around anymore.
no subject
[He hadn't wanted to make him speak of things he didn't want to.]
no subject
It's fine, you didn't do anything! [ A beat, and- ] When I found myself out in the rest of Spira, I couldn't talk about where I was from. Because nobody believed me, and they thought a toxin got to me that was messing with my head.
But I don't mind talking about whatever you wanna hear.

It was a big, metropolis city. Giant buildings all crowded together, and even if you went to the farther outskirts of it, you'd never take in the whole thing. It sat over the water, in it and high above it--water raining down from the tops like waterfalls, and it used to run through the streets, under the paths! There were giant bridges of waters stretched across all over like decorations, and thick columns of water raised just to house more homes and buildings on top of them!
[ He's been looking back at the screen by now, hands used to show the different levels of 'land', how the water would arch as bridges, how higher some buildings would sit compared to others. Smile widening as he continues. ]
And you know? You could talk to anyone, anywhere. Go out and do your shopping or stay at home! Anything you can think of, Zanarkand could do it!
