[The video in the kitchen car turns on, showing Ryo holding up a tray of freshly baked muffins - half poppyseed and half chocolate chip, from the looks of it - and wearing a smile a bit more mischievous than usual.]

I don't know how many people have looked at the shop today, but we can now vote on improvements to the train. I had six votes, and I'd imagine most people have about that many.

I also have freshly baked muffins, and I'd like to offer a trade: if you vote to add scaffolding in the garden car, I'll give you a muffin, as long as I still have them available. If we get enough votes for scaffolding and you still want a muffin, voting for protein and dairy or for meat will also count. I'll be in the kitchen for a little while if you want to come talk to me.

[Yes, he is happily bribing the train to get what he wants. No, he has no shame - at least, not over this.]

Also, Thanatos, can you come see me when you get a minute? No rush.

[ It doesn't take long for Thanatos to arrive when he hears Ryo's message. ]

I've already voted, and it was for the scaffolding and the vegan substitutes.

[ He split his votes, thinking of people like Persephone, and if the substitutes could find a place in the greenhouse, then food would be even less of an issue in the future. ]

Or do you need me to find someone?

[ He's thinking about his own post that he made and trusting Ryo to help. There were a few VoidTreckers of high concern identified on that post, and one who is always on Thanato's watch list due to personal interest. ]

[It's a quick response, but he shouldn't be surprised - it's Thanatos, and this is what he does. He greets his friend with a smile.]

Oh - nothing like that.

[He picks up a poppyseed muffin set aside from the other ones and offers it to Thanatos.]

Here - I thought you might like this. It's poppyseed.

[ Thanatos pauses and looks at the offered treat. He holds it, and Mort scampers down to sniff at it, nose wiggling. The confusion and slight apprehension appears on his face. ]

Aren't you using these as offerings to buy favors?

[ If Ryo's coming in the day with mischief, Tidus can act like a man gambling with getting a free taste of muffin. But he huffs a second after, a mirthful sound. ]

What d'you wanna grow, if you get the scaffolding?

[ He can't imagine it. What would go up there? Is it just frames? Sounds like it. ]

[Ryo gasps, theatrically affronted.]

Are you saying you don't trust my cooking?

[He knows that's not what Tidus meant, but if they're both leaning into the curve, then why not?]

[He does relax at the following question, expression turning thoughtful.]

I don't know - I figured I'd talk to Persephone about it. I just know we've needed more space for a while.

I saw there's a second car for plants - think that's always been a new garden car? [ Not that it's really a point, just thinking out loud. ] But yeah, the green thumbs can do with more room. Up above and another car.

You guys love growing.

[ Ryo's getting thrown in there for his singular patch (or two). Tidus can do it, he can do what he wants, all with a teasing grin. (Ignore the potted healing plants he got Persephone to help grow.) ]

[Just a few minutes later, Esteban arrives with a big grin onto his face, eager and excited to find Ryo again. He's carrying a few paper napkins in the palm of his hands.]

Found ya, Ryo~ Is that yer fav'rite desert? [He snickers lightly. Seems he really got stuck up on that question.] Guess what! Purple team got some snacks too~ An' it's my fav'rite!~

[The paper napkins held some round gingerbread cookies, with white frosting and a single candy at the center of each. Esteban had nabbed four from the structure, unrepentant, and had just snatched two from the pile before pushing the remaining two at the healer.]

Here! They're for you~

[It's good to see Esteban again, and Ryo greets Esteban's smile with one of his own.]

No, but they are easy to make.

[He accepts the napkins with that same smile and looks at the cookies. He'd seen the gingerbread train but hadn't had any - he's on the wrong team, after all, and it's not his prize.]

Thank you! Are you sure you don't want it all, since it's your favorite?

[He doesn't know how many points Esteban has, but he knows it's not always easy to get exactly what you want here.]

Nell had come in to bake some cookies for the train, with a few left over for her to bring back to her cabin. "Scaffolding was all voted out, I guess, but I voted for some meats."

She smiled at Ryo who she remembered from their time around the campfire with the little ones. "And I'm making some cookies that you can give out to people too, if you'un wants."

He greets Nell with a smile, and it brightens at her words. "Wow, that was fast. Thank you! What kind of muffin do you want?" He hasn't had a chance to step away to a shop terminal yet, given that he'd said he'd stay in the kitchen for muffin distribution, so quick success is welcome news.

"I think they'd appreciate the cookies, but it'd be nice for them to get something that isn't attached to votes." His smile turns a little sheepish. "That's what the muffins were going to be for, but...well, we've needed more space in the greenhouse for a while, and I couldn't resist the opportunity."

It'll help out a lot. I been tryin' to keep us all filled up on food but more space to grow gives us lots of options.

[Persephone pokes her head into the kitchen, then slips in as she spots Ryo still there]

Aha--you're still here! I saw your efforts have paid off. I hope you didn't have big plans for these muffins before we saw the new voting thing.

[He'd known she was nearby - his Sense made that clear - but he hadn't been sure she'd stop in the kitchen until the door opens and she enters, and he offers her a smile.]

To be honest, I'd been planning on just giving them out to people - a lot of people seemed upset over the news about the tethers, and I thought they'd like something nice. Plus, Thanatos wasn't... [How does he phrase this?] ...feeling well the last time I made poppyseed muffins, and I wanted him to be able to try them now that he's doing better. But then the train gave us voting options, and one of them was more space in the garden car, and I wanted to make sure we got it, so... [He trails off and shrugs. Trading food for labor or services is a legitimate form of compensation in his world, and this is close enough, right?]

[He gestures to the counter, where he'd been in the process of organizing the remaining muffins so he could wash the emptied tins and plates.]
