[Murphy's in the store room by the ICP there, hand leaning on the wall beside it and he's tilted so he can point at the refridgerator. And he has very, very red skin and is wearing a red team uniform shirt but with a leather jacket over it.]

Hello! Hi. My name is Murphy, pleasure to meet you. Having a great time here, really. Loving the whole 'pre-apocalyptic civilization experience', that's always a favorite but.... Ummmmm.

[He purses his lips for a bit, makes a little popping noise, before continuing.]

Sooooo... there was a tupperware container in the fridge holding an item wrapped in brown paper. Silly me, I didn't think to label it. [Tiny wince. Oopsie doodle.] That item was a human brain. Pretty recognizably a brain. That is my brain, and I'm gonna need that back. [Big smile? Big smile. Come on, do him a solid.]

Oh.... Oh! Right. Right.

I'm not going to be thinking with the brain. [He clears his throat.] I'm going to be eating it. Actually baking with it. I know a cookie recipe that makes it last longer.

Remember that experiment I told you about? Yeaaaaaah. I'm from a world of brain-eating undead and I'm pretty much the One-Eyed King of the Blind! Hooray. I'm the cure to a terrible disease that makes people rise and attack each other but, oops, I get a little hungry sometimes.

That's where the scars came from. They had me strapped down to give me the test serum and it meant I couldn't run when the infected broke in.

[And ohhhh even years later and with the Doctor dead, he's still bitter.]

[ Alice pauses, like she has to process all of that. Really, it's not too hard. She's seen zombies before. Heck, even someone who wasn't a zombie threatened to eat her once. That part isn't so weird.

But the part that this is the result of the experimentation that happened to him - that's the part that sucks, the part she needs to think about for a moment longer. ]

Well, I hope for your sake that whoever took it wasn't planning on eating it themselves. I can't imagine it's easy trying to buy some new brains for food from the train.

You know what's a fun question to ask yourself? If buying more will be the price of a snack or the price of a small item.

[Things that the Void Train store probably already has worked out and Murphy honestly doesn't really want to know.]

Hey, I'd be willing to share. They just can't have all of it.

[ Well, at least Murphy seems to be dealing relatively well with what the experiments turned him into, if he can joke about it like this. Whether it's in a bitter way or not, at least it's some outlet.

So Alice feels like it's appropriate enough to just make a near-deadpan kind of joke. ]

Who knows, if the train prices them cheaply enough, we may be able to buy brains for some of the idiots who lack those here.

Sadly I think these might come from home-grown idiots. I don't know if they're real.

One of the nice 'perks' that comes with what I am is if I eat a brain slowly, usually I keep the person's knowledge, probably a few memories here and there.

I only had a little of this one but it was empty.

.. you think the train is making fake brains for you?

[ She isn't too sure how to feel about that. And it shows too - something about her tone is half-curious, half-confused.

Alice doesn't think he's lying, after all. Who would have a reason to lie about something that ridiculous? ]

And here I thought it was just randomly harvesting organs. [ Wouldn't put it past the train at this point. ]

If it is, they're getting a heavy-duty sci-fi memory erasure before they got plucked out of someone's skull.

[Yeah, even he thinks it's really weird.]

[ Curioser and curioser.

Something about this really piques Alice's imagination. Maybe she'll have to ask about it, the next time the train lets them ask questions. It's not like she trusts the vehicle to answer any actually important question, after all. ]

I see. Well.. I hope you can find that brain again soon. I'd hate to know what the person who took it is trying to do with it. [ Because it's probably something weird.

Something weirder than just eating it. ]
