2nd Jelly - Video

[When Rich appears on the screen, he doesn't look... all that great. He hasn't slept, and his eyes are a little red. As much as he's trying to keep his tone casual, he's not super convincing. He's obviously rattled.]

Yo. Rich Goranski here. Saw we got some more newcomers, and... well, something got my attention.

[Yes, something. Jack certainly doesn't deserve to be referred to as a someone.]

For those of you who haven't gotten saddled with my baggage yet: I come from a world with some pretty dangerous technology. I didn't want to talk about it much, because it sounded like it was something that I could deal with on my own. Didn't see anything that was dangerous around here related to my shit, so.

But now there's a certain robot asshole on this train, and in case he tries anything again, I thought it would be best to get everyone some info.

I left a document on the computer for people to look at. If you wanna talk about it, or if it gets deleted before you can see it, just come talk to me.

[He sighs and runs a hand through his messy hair.]

I know I'm probably being paranoid, but... all I got is information. If this helps anyone, it'll be worth it. Thanks for listening.

((Rich has made a document with his findings and a small warning on Handsome Jack. It's obvious that he's got trauma from robots, so feel free to have your character ignore this warning.

Also, he has not realized yet that he's giving the person he hates information on all his trauma. Whoopsie.

[Rich gives him a small smile, but doesn't say anything for a few moments. He just washes his hands as well, in case there's any way he can help.

After a moment of silence, he takes a breath.]

Okay. Uh. Where do you want me to start?

We're going to divide this dough into six, knead it and then spread it out so it can proof again.

[ Is that what Rich meant? ]

I meant more... where you wanted me to start with questions, but this works.

[He chuckles faintly as he spreads a little more flour out so he has some space to work with.]

You said you wanted to help with baking.

[ He smiles a little and shrugs, okay, even he knows he's just avoiding it. ]

I'm not entirely clear how that technology works since it's not something we have in my world...even before everything, we didn't have it as far as I know.

[Rich takes part of the divided dough to start working with it, and then offers a shrug of his own.]

Yeah, well, I'm not surprised. It was experimental, and whoever put it out made it clear it was in the testing phase. When I bought one, I was told it 'wasn't exactly legal.' And I mean, there's no way it would be when it was being sold to a bunch of lonely kids from the back of a shoe store.

Yeah probably not. [ He doesn't look surprised or bothered by the mention of illegal acts...~~what has Senku done~~. ]

So you take it via capsule and it travels up to your brain like you're host to a parasite. I get that right?

Pretty much. It's a nanomachine, so once the capsule dissolves, it's small enough to get up to your brain. And now it's pretty much latched in there.

[Unless a surgery is somehow managed.]

It's still electric based, it's just working with the impulses inside of you, maybe...

[ He considers. ]

Unless it's self-sufficient. Have you considered trying an electromagnetic solution? Meaning that a powerful magnet would interfere with the device so it wouldn't work.

I haven't thought about that. I know she's said she runs off of my body's electric signals, so that could do something to it. But I never shoved a magnet up to my head, so.

[Still, it's a possibility that hasn't been suggested before, so it does give Rich some hope.]

I'll have to think about what could interrupt signals in humans, but there must be some machine components too, I would think?

[ He looks like he's working on a puzzle, but his hands haven't stop kneading the dough. ]

I have to imagine so. I know the nanomachine is still in there and all. There's probably some part of it that turns my energy into electricity.

[Rich glances over to Senku's hands, and then remembers he has to keep kneading as well.]

Then we're still dealing with tech and interrupting tech is relatively easy.

[ At least, in theory it is. ]

I'll think about it and let you know if I come up with anything. It could be tricky to get a heavy duty magnet too, because the train has a bunch of electrical systems and it has a habit of limiting what we want to get based on whatever arbitrary reason and I wouldn't be surprised if one of them is interrupting the train systems.

...I appreciate you looking into it. I know that there probably isn't a solution, though. Not one that is gonna completely work. I think... since this was my own mistake, it only makes sense that never completely getting rid of it is a punishment, right?

[Even if he's the only one he'd ever deem worthy of that punishment.]

[ Senku snorts rather rudely. ]

I don't believe in shit like that.

[ That's it. That's all he thinks about that. ]

You don't believe in what? Karma? Shitty people getting what's coming to them?

[Maybe Rich doesn't exactly believe the world works like that, but it's stacked against him, regardless.]

Karma is a spiritual concept with no basis in science at all, and so called shitty people usually have their reasons. Aside from believing in law and order, I am pretty sure people are more complicated than that.

[ He's separating his dough into balls now. ]

If I was worried about something like that, I'd miss out on good allies just because they tried to kill me.

[ Senku says this like that's a totally normal reaction to people trying to assassinate you. ]

It might not be scientific, but I still... I mean, there's supposed to be some sort of justice.

[He looks at Senku as if he's grown a second head suddenly, sputtering.]

Are you serious?

[Even Rich didn't (intentionally) try to kill anyone!]

Not my area. If people get justice or not is a completely vague concept.

[ So no, he doesn't think karma exists or some person he met that he has no real concept of his history deserves ill treatment.

He blinks at the question and tilts his head. ]

Yes. I did manage to die once, but because of a bit of a baiting and where my last petrification spot was, I was able to to fix the damage with the depetrification.

Quite a few people have tried to kill me, but our differences have been settled now, they're not trying to kill me anymore. If history tells us anything, comes with the territory of being in charge.

[Okay, so Senku is definitely crazy. Maybe Rich shouldn't judge, since he has plenty of his own mental issues that people would mock him for, but that just seems a bit too intense for him. He can't wrap his head around it.]

Aren't you at least afraid of them? Just because it's expected, doesn't mean you need to be okay with it. You shouldn't be okay with just trusting them all of a sudden because they say they won't do it again.

[ Is he afraid of them...? ]

Nope. I believe them, that they aren't going to hurt me. A lot happened to get there. Not sure about Hyoga, but then again he's petrified at the moment, so he's not a threat.

They've proven me right so far. [ He considers it a moment. ] There just aren't enough people in the world to worry about that.

... I super don't understand you, dude.

[Both the world he came from and him, really.]

I can't even imagine, even in a fucking apocalypse, trusting someone who was going to kill me. I guess that's why you're leading your group, but damn.

I get that a lot.

[ He's not offended, he just shrugs it off a little bit. ]

I'm the leader because I won the honour in a fight. [ Yeah, that's a story and a half. ] Not because of that, but I managed to gain a lot of my allies and people's compliance through the way I do things. What am I going to do with someone like that?

We don't kill. That's a policy I agreed to, to gain allies. [ He offers another shrug. ] I wasn't particularly bloodthirsty to begin with. We had Hyoga as a captive for awhile, and his second, Homura, but that's not that great either. It's much better to turn people into allies than any of that.

It's a bit of a delicate balance, maybe. If anyone got it in their head that they wanted to remove me with force, I'd be completely helpless. That's the part about leadership that's not particularly great, and I'm not the best at it. That's what I have the Mentalist for.

I don't believe in killing either, if that's what you're saying. Keeping 'em in prison would be the thought I'd have.

[He tries to listen to the rest of the story carefully, maybe just silently amused that he thought he was coming here to spill the beans on his life, and instead had gotten caught up in Senku's strange politics.]

So you took over from some other leader, huh? Why did you feel the need to do that when you want to protect your position now?

And I'm guessing the Mentalist is that Gen guy.

Homura and Hyoga were imprisoned before they were repetrified. It's a lot more work than just locking someone up though. You have to take care of them. They're hostile and dangerous and if you're not careful, they could hurt you. [ Senku explained. ]

Ah, well that's a bit of a story. I was trying to help Chrome. Part of the package deal of being the chief of the village is marrying the priestess and he has a thing for her. Unfortunately, a default and a crafty win later, Chrome couldn't get up, I won on another default.

And he is, yeah. Asagiri Gen. Before the whole thing he was a stage magician.

I mean, yeah, and usually I think prison is bunk in most societies, but when it comes to murderers, I just think it'd be better than letting them go completely free.

Gen's a magician, though, huh? I'll have to ask to see his tricks.

[He chuckles softly as he looks down atthe dough he's been working with.]

You know, you're a strange guy, Senku. I thought you had questions for me, and we've been talking all about you. I like listening and all, but... thought this was gonna be a lot worse.
