[Video] 29th of Imagination - Library to all cars
[After the spark of an idea settles in - and after Nita's discussed it with a few trusted people - and giving the train a heads' up - Nita finds herself making a post in the early afternoon, two days before the turn of the month.]
Hello, everyone. This is Nita Callahan again, and I've got both an idea, and a request.
We've learned the train can communicate with us more directly - but it has trouble doing so. As in, energy troubles, not just the social aspect.
[Which, frankly, she can relate to... and which often made that sense of disconnect, or missed connection, worse.
No matter.]
So I'd like to get as many of those with abilities that can bridge that gap - psychic, technological, whatever you've got - as want to participate, and this next platform day we can spend some time seeing how they fit together.
I'll admit, I haven't had much success in being close - but mostly I was acting alone, and the few times I did joint-work with people were mixed at best. But if we can make a channel, even if it's just through group meditation or similar, then maybe we'll all have less of an uphill battle.
Shared burdens are lessened; we have to remember that.
Nita, out. And... thank you, for listening.
[Because listening counts for a lot, even when it doesn't always feel like it.]

Re: Okay!
As for the gems, that made sense - though when she thought about it, most of the uses she was familiar with 'back home' were more about crystals than gemstones.
"I can get you more of those, then, no problem."
Re: Okay!
"Unless someone comes into the library, I rarely speak with them. I do wish that Zelda would come in here more often," he added softly.
Sorry, Nita, but this is Clef without places to practice and without a son to push him into life and living.
"That would be helpful. Thank you. Do you want to work on the gauntlet now?"

As to the offer, she smiled.
"I'm happy to do that, yeah - though I'll have to leave the ICP on, in case someone else calls."
She couldn't get her Manual to forward messages from this Network, alas.

But he nodded to her condition. That made sense. "Bring it out, then?"

Her voice was some combination of gentle and stern; she knew what it was like for it to be hard to make friends... particularly when they had previously been friends.
"You have to start somewhere, and I can't do that for you."
She fetched out the gem - it was one of those things, like her Manual, that she'd had no trouble carrying around regardless of whether she thought she'd need it - and held it in her palm.
"Anything in particular I need to do with it, or picture in my mind?"
A sort-of shot in the dark, that.

"I can handle that no trouble. And... shaping the weapon form?"
Assuming she was phrasing the matter at all correctly.

She thought of personas, of outriders, and what it felt like to have a spell tailor to you on the fly.
She exhaled.
"Show me what to do?"
no subject
The things I seem to write. XD
"Pharle skills, huh? Might need a compare-contrast list on that one, but I'd be game."
LOL
"As in what exactly a pharle does compared to a blacksmith?"
no subject
Though at first she'd thought it was compared to wizard; but this was fine by her.
"Since it's not just metal they're shaping, right?"
no subject
"Well, for one thing, with the best blacksmith artisans, smithing is more than simply shaping metal. In some ways, you can start with that as a base. What a pharle makes is not simply functional. They are made the way anyone creates art. You have to give every item you design that focus, that dedication, that will, and that imagination. It is not me just saying this is hard work or trying to make it more than it is. Ceiphro magic is very like Bending. Your will, your focus... that is everything. If you look at your pharle work as work or as routine it will not work. It is not that you will make something that isn't quite as good, it will not work at all. The state of mind for pharle work is everything. And that state of mind requires the desire to create a work of art, the desire to make something unique AND functional. Both need to be held foremost in your mind."
He took a breath.
"After that the next thing to remember that pharle work, unlike blacksmithing is rooted in magic and will. Rather than a forge the fire comes from within. There are some small tools for detailed work, but for the most part..." he held up his hands. "These are your tools."
"There are two main kinds of creations a pharle can work towards, and you need to know which category it will be before you begin. Bound and unbound, though the phrases are inaccurate. A bound creation is created for a specific person and this effort is greater, but the product created is far better. However no one else could ever use it, and other than the one it was made for, you will be the only one who can handle it. Bound creations take far more work, but they are far more versatile. Unbound is the misleading term for they are bound in a fashion."
"An unbound item, be it weapon or armor or jewelry, has varying degrees of binding, but only to the pharle who created it. I could, for example, craft a sword that anyone can use, but that will always return to me when set aside. Or that could never be used against me. But in some way any unbound item I create will in some way be bound to me. Presea liked working with the intricacies of that. For most of the people on the train, we will be making unbound weapons and armor. They will be far simpler to craft, and honestly... I trust very few people on this train well enough to bind anything I create to them. The same was true in Naut, though there were a few more there."
"I will start by teaching you unbound as they are less complex. Evolving armor and weapons, as you may have surmised, are a niche of bound creations. They are the only class of creations that require a specific material that no matter how I try, I have not been able to replicate with Bending. Escudo. Aside from that, every other material needed for Pharle work can be made with Bending, though in many cases, gems especially, natural works far better. I have been researching the differences, but I will admit it had not been a priority for me for any notable length of time. I began looking into it with Connie, but then a Storm changed my focus and I have not yet had a chance to return to that subject."
no subject
"So, it's an act of persuasion, you'd say? Convincing the material, not just to take a certain shape, but to trust you over anyone else?"
no subject
no subject
"Might not be as much of a leap as you think, then, Clef."
You let something get used to you, work with it a lot - then, change it.
Alright, so it wasn't that simple in practice, but that DID seem to be the basics.no subject

"So, if we're tag-teaming this, at least to start, how did you want to do it?"
no subject
Think we're working to a fade-out, depending on how long working on the gauntlet takes?
Or ready enough to pay attention, anyway.
"And I'll share what I'm used to when it's my turn, too."
Probably.
no subject
It's not a sour question; she was smiling, after all.
