Given I'm going to be here for at least another day, I figured I'd update the out-of-date Welcome Guide thing we have. The last month has been ... Busy and I let it slide a bit. Last I looked, there should be copies next to all the carriage ICPs though they're at least a month out of date.

[Tired deadpan -even a bit sheepish- Eva is go, and by now, people should at least have an idea of why Eva's locked in a Medical Cabin.]

I think we should add a section on missions, but Lightning-san was handling this? [As far as she knew, anyway.] I also know we found out a fair bit this mission, and I believe we need to start record, as detailed as possible, on what we know about our situation.

[A sigh.] Regardless, if you have any additions to the Welcome Guide, let me know here or drop by my medical cabin.

(OOC: I've put up a Gdoc for the Welcome Guide and commenting should be enabled. Basically, if there's things on that that need updating or editing, make a comment!)

[ There's actually...something that Tidus has had on his mind. For a while. He decides to skip speaking on the network, would've just warned he was going over anyway if he did use it. It's not a discussion he wants to have in public.

So, while it might not be entirely unexpected to get a visitor when she's put out a call welcoming them, Tidus arrives at her room with a knock, entering in after. Flashing a smile, tone calm but friendly. ]

[It's an easy and honest admission to make because it's true. She's more time on her hands than she likes and it's far, far easier to do something than allow her thoughts to circle and dwell on what happened.]

It's something for your guide. I...don't think it's come up? About the SCAs. Some people might wanna keep them close when they first arrive. I don't know how common it is, but- they might be doing something to help them out if they have something about them.

[ It's awkward, difficult to bring up, but for the most part he tries for casual as he speaks. Arms folded to keep himself from fussing around with them. ]

Sit; I think we're gonna be talking for a while; I'm starved for it.

[Social butterfly in medical isolation. Rip Eva who just wants to get back to normal. That said, there's a nod and an understanding smile. She can guess what's brought this: something happened during the shitshow of a mission and it needs to be addressed.]

Like a disability you mean? I'm already going to bold keeping them on you, but this just makes it more important, especially during the missions.

[ He'll take the seat, hands coming on his knees, a small lean to his posture; a grimaced smile on his face. He has to think about this too - if this would be relevant to anyone but him. ]

Well... [ He tries - but he's coming up blank. Sighing a little, he tips his head. ] I'll just explain my situation.

[ Despite it being like a stone in his throat. Regardless- ]

If I take off my SCA anywhere, I'll disappear. [ He pauses, just for a beat. ] It'll happen slower on the train, but - back home, I can't stick around unless I'm being dreamed. By magic. [ To simplify it. ]

So... [ He tips his head slightly to a side. ] If anyone had... something like a disability, sure, or something strange going on about them, the SCA might be helping.

[She's not sure what she expected, but that wasn't it. Still, she's heard of weirder things than dream-person-made-real.

She exhales and runs a hand through messy hair.] So basically like a teether that's keeping you stable, then.

[She glances at her own, then grins.] Nifty things. That said, while we can't force people to wear them, I think we can imply doing so is likely beneficial in some ways and that if you don't have it on off-world, you can't evac to the train, or understand anyone unless they speak your language.

Unless you have a better way of putting it?

[ He nods to the tether example, but won't interrupt her otherwise. Speaking only once she's done. ]

I mean, if people don't need them, then they don't need to wear them. Your Welcome Guide's is for the newbies, right? [ He rolls a hand in the air, nonsense, just a motion made while he speaks. ]

It's just something for them to think about. If they think something's up or something should be up, that'll probably explain it. It could be the SCA helping them.

[ A pause, and Tidus draws back from his leaned posture. ]

Maybe there's been other cases onboard too. Of the SCA helping people out. [ He shakes his head, a sheepish note when he admits- ] I...haven't exactly been open about this 'til now, so...

[ So, he hasn't been asking many questions. ]

True, that, and it is, though once it's updated -and it does need to be as we lost half the Council within what, a month and a half?-, I'll put out a reminder that people should re-read it. Can't hurt at least.

[She offers a wry grin.] I'd say it is the SCA helping them. Without, you'd... not be here. Plus it also helps with allergies... which is something I should not down in the Guide...

Do you have about the three taps to evacuate? [ A sheepish tug of his own smile. ] I actually haven't read it in a while either.

[Give her a second as she grabs the copy of the Guide she has, a pen, and starts scribbling yet again on it.]

How's this sound 'Your SCA -Safety Control Apparatus- is vitally important and if you think that something screwy should be up re your biology but isn't while on the train, it’s likely the SCA doing something to keep it unscrewy.'

Good enough to me! Some pickier guy might have something to say about the wording, but that's why I don't write these kinda things.

But, you were asking about missions too, right?

I've never been one for formal unless I really have to be. Which for my language means a change in the register and word choice, and tone. It tends to suck, though I'm pretty sure Galarish has it worse...

[She shrugs. She's never spoken the language, so she really doesn't know. ]

Yeah, though I think Lightning-san looks after anything related to that, which is fair, honestly. The more we spread the work, the better.

I know a lot of people who don't read at all, nor do they read anything for leisure and I'm not sure they'd read this. I used to read a ton, but...

[ It's his suggestion, nothing more really, but maybe he should visit her if she's so bored. ]

I'd stick to the most vital of information and then get the team leads to sweep up their new members. They should know them anyway, shouldn't they? That way people get the information either way even if they won't read the welcome guide.

True, and we can at least shove the Guide into their hands that way. Which is something we should organise for the Platform after this. I'm not even going to try for this one.

[The mission did a number on everyone. 0/10, would not do again.]

Actually, maybe you could do one better than that, it doesn't have to be you. You could organize it so there's a few people on the team who are meant to be welcoming new people and giving information, so they get to know someone.

[ A beat. ] Not that they shouldn't know you, they should, I just mean it's the kind of thing that might make other people feel involved in the group. [ She may get the impression he's been thinking. ]

[ A shorter pause, though. ] I definitely do not mean me.

True, and it's likely to help ease the load especially after missions, though I think it's probably something to think about after I get out of here and the Council and Team Leads've had time to breathe, so to speak.

[She can tell and she really has no complaints about it at all.

Well, outside the fact she's now got far more to think about and it's only been a day, if that, since mission end.] Oh, so I can put you on copy duty then?

No rush, get healed or whatever. It was just a thought. [ He says as though he doesn't have many, but it does mean he's not going to bombard her or anything with his thoughts right now. ]

Sure, if you want. [ She can probably hear his shrug. ] I just mean I'm not the most uh, welcoming person, there's probably people with real social skills who could do it better.

[ Like a certain Mentalist, but also there had to be less social disasters on their team overall right? ]

Thoughts are good though, but you are right. We've got plenty of time.

[Plus it gives her time to get her head back on straight so to speak.]

I've seen the computer, I'd rather print it frankly. I have neat writing but I'm not sure how well that translates over.

[ He has blocky, technical writing that looks exactly as it's supposed to, clearly something he copie when he learned. It at least makes it neat. ]
