Mission Vision -- very early in the morning of Imagination Day 6 [Video]

[ Curufin falls out of his bunk, as usual when waking from a mission vision. CRASH! He hits the floor, his blankets entangled with his legs, his right shoulder striking the floor with a thud. Luckily Elves don't break bones easily, but his shoulder is going to hurt. He scrambles to the ICP. ]

Wouldn't you know it, I've just had another prophetic dream. [ He shakes his head and drags his hand through his disordered black hair. ]

Didn't like the looks of this one, either.

I was in a jungle, and it was pleasant enough. Sun shining down through the branches, forest sounds, nice. But suddenly the light intensified, and something seemed wrong with it. I ran to the next clearing and gazed up at the sky, and what I saw was ominous. The sky had turned a glaring dark red and was getting darker by the moment. And then everything grew still, as though the world had stopped. I did not have time to react to that, or wonder what it meant. Abruptly the ground shook under my feet, and the dust rose, and there was fire everywhere, and I heard screams, screams, and more screams. And then I woke up.

Damn if this doesn't seem to me like another candidate for an aborted mission! What the hell happens to the mission world? Is it self-destructing, or is it attacked by unknown forces? Or is this some simple natural disaster?

[ Still shaking his head. He grabs for his jacket and pulls it on. ]

Did anybody else have this dream? Or any variation of this dream?

So... wait, did you have a vision before that mission too? Was it anything like this one? This one sounds bad, sure, but - there wasn't any of those black cloud...things, whatever they were, were there?

Yes, I did have a vision before the aborted mission. It was pretty much like what actually happened on the mission itself. But in the vision I just now had, it's true there were no shadow beings. Thank goodness. However, I think the explosion of fire could be just as fatal to us and to the people who live there, even if it doesn't destroy the planet itself.

[ Yep, the red sky mattered! It meant that the fiery event was not limited to just the swath of jungle that Curufin was standing in. ]

Hey, no matter how bad it is, it means we need to be prepared! A lot of fire, a jungle... there's been a mission helping people evacuate before, right? Or we just need to help get people out of somewhere dangerous.

How about I ask Spider how many people she thinks she can move at once, just in case. Maybe we should take extra food and water, if the people on-world need it!

Yes, we've done a couple of evac missions. I really hope this fiery event is not planet-wide. If it's not, then we could scope out that world for safe places to take people.

Oh, right. I'd forgotten our spider friend has teleportation abilities. She might be really useful on this one, in that case. Yes, I agree about the extra food and water. But maybe we can start talking to the people there as soon as we arrive. They might have some rescue arrangements or institutions already.

Right! Even if they don't believe us 'cause nothing's happened when we get there, Webs's magic'll be good. We can set up some teleporting beforehand to the place we want everyone to go!

What else should we be thinking about?

I really hope they don't disbelieve us! I hope they have a culture that includes prophetic visions. We've just got to discover that place that will be safe, I guess by asking the citizens of that world. I hope it doesn't turn out that no place is safe, because we don't have an alternative world to teleport people to. Unless there's enough room on the train? If it's not a whole world full of people that we must save, but only a single community, then there might be space on the Voidtrecker.

You've already mentioned food supplies. I suppose we'd better plan for casualties. Have any of the doctors weighed in on the discussion yet? In Zelda's post, I mean. I missed that one.

Well- I don't know how many of the doctors have said anything yet. It's pretty early, so - how about we bring it up at breakfast? Once everyone starts rolling in. We can tell the what we think the situation's gonna be. See if anyone has any ideas and get more ideas going.

Sounds like a good plan. The more people in on the discussion, the better chance of good ideas.

The visions though you have... do they always happen? The stuff in them. Does everything come up?

Yes, the visions always happen. That's why I'm so concerned now. We're obviously supposed to prevent some disaster from happening, or rescue the citizens when it does, but I'm worried that the fact that I saw the disaster happening means that it will, regardless of what we do.

Ugh- then that's just what we've got to work with! [ An exhale- ] This train really does sling us into whatever it wants.

I suppose so. We're Void Warriors, and we have the power of choice in some areas and not in others. The train is making the decisions about where we go, and what kinds of disasters we are assigned to prevent or mitigate. I wish we had more choice, and certainly more knowledge about these places and circumstances.

Guess there's no good in doing anything but planning what we can. Least get the new people up to date and feeling ready.
