[Tony's face appears as he's quickly figuring out how to use the ICP. For anyone who saw him on the platform or shortly after, he's looking a lot better. There are some bruises on his face and he looks stressed, but this is still an improvement.]
Lightning. I don't know where you are, but I need you to come to the end of the sleeper carriage near the dressing carriage door. I have two idiots who need some help.
[About two hours later... it's just his voice this time.]
Whoever abducted us, you better change the damn fragrance in the dressing room to something these kids aren't allergic to before I find you.

[Sorry, he's a troll and you sound nervous.]
Do you honestly believe that to be a wise course of action, sport?
no subject
it's super effective!]
I, I wasn't suggesting it, I was just...you asked me if I knew anything! That's...really all that comes to mind. I'm not the science officer.
no subject
So only science officers can come up with helpful suggestions and everyone else can just waste our time with pointless ones?
[He's starting to have trouble keeping a straight face.]

beat.
exhale.]
...No, sir. My attention was more on investigating the internal wiring of this train model. If there's any chance this is one of the Galaxy Railways models, then I may be able to get to the bottom of this.
no subject
The Galaxy Railways? What are those? Have you found a panel to get into the inter- You know what, where are you? I'll come find you.
[Some things might not be wise to say over this communication device, after all.]
no subject
...1:B. I'll keep the door open.
[...kind of because he has to: the floor panels are kind of huge, so he's having some logistical troubles pushing the meager furnishings that aren't bolted down out of the way so he can trace the panel lining and seek out enough of a point to pop it open.
Tony will find the young man on his knees, ducked under the table, gliding his fingers and palm along the edge between the two panels. he stops with a small start, worried it might be the Big Guy or some other roommate that he has to explain things to, but--]
...Ah. Hey. I'm Manabu, by the way. Manabu Yuuki, SDF Sirius Platoon.
Action
Tony doesn't say anything as he cuts the feed, only barely catching part of the sentence after the room the boy is in.
The older man arrives sitting in a wheelchair with fading bruises on his face and hands (the skin that's visible). When he gets to the room, he glances up at the name on the wall next to the door before looking in at what's become of the room.]
Tony Stark. Pleasure. So how exactly did you get this panel up?
no subject
concern:] Sir, are...are you alright? Was the allergic reaction really that bad?
[also: that name seems...familiar. somehow. he's not sure. it's nagging at him, but not enough to be too distracting.]
no subject
[He wasn't really fine, but there wasn't much anyone could do to improve his health further than already been done. He offers the young man a small smile though as a very subtle thank you for the concern.]
Are those pipes hot or cold? Do they needs screw drivers or wrenches? I don't have either but we might be able to find something that will work as a substitute.
no subject
We need something to weaken the adhesives on this side, [pointing at the edge closer to the table.] then I can apply force on this side and pop it up enough to see.
no subject
Water or vinegar would work. Rubbing alcohol if- the first aid kits might have some. Let me check.
[He wheels further away fromt he room and finds the first aid kit hanging in the hallway. He sorts through it and then mutters a curse. Returning, he shakes his head.]
There might be the other two in the kitchen or soap might work.
no subject
...then again. maybe he could find that huge guy he met earlier and have him just...stamp on the floor...
ah. well, contingencies for later. he needs to work with what he has right now!]
Mm. [nodding, resolute.] I'll be back in a second, hang tight!
[it takes a bit of finagling around that chair of Tony's -- Manabu apologizes, of course -- before he can trot down the corridor, off toward the dining car. it'll be more than a second, because while it's easy to find things when they're all going in one direction, it's more of a scavenger hunt to pilfer through the kitchen's setup first time through.
he comes tromping back hastily, but triumphantly enough.]
Got what we need! Haa, here, hang on-- [back in the way, back onto the floor he goes with the small bottle of apple vinegar. with a puffed laugh:] I feel like I'm up to some school science tricks or something here...
no subject
His eyes light up when he sees the kid found some soap.]
God, I miss those days sometimes.
[Even the ones he just did with Peter. Who didn't love showing off how to light a lightbulb with a potato? This young man was turning out to be alright too.]
You know, earlier.. I was just messing around with you. I knew you weren't serious about the airlock.
no subject
[he looks up, mid-pour, blinking. after half a beat, he grins.]
Oh, I’m not mad! Don’t worry about it, Mr. Stark.
[head tilt.]
...Y’know...I think I know that name...? But for some reason, I’m having trouble remembering from where...
no subject
His eyebrow rose hearing the young man had heard of him. It was amusing that he'd been on this train only one day and already people were recognizing him.
He rocked, obviously.]
If you were on my world it would because I'm a billionaire superhero but since you're likely not from there, I'd say you met my intern Peter. Right?
no subject
while closing the vinegar bottle up, his expression and voice grow more distant as he scrambles to recall.]
But...rich superhero sounds familiar. I just don’t get how.
[he scoots backward, getting to his feet and sizing up where to stomp before shooting Tony a curious look.]
No foggy memory on your end, right? Besides whatever’s got us all boarded here, anyway.
no subject
What sort of world are you from? Is it Earth?
[Foggy memories? Hmm. He had to think that over.]
No, I don't believe so. Although, how would I know if I haven't re-remembered them?
no subject
...No, that’s not right. That platform looked nothing like Tabito station. But for some reason I was so sure I was just boarding for work.
But...that doesn’t feel right now, either. There’s no such things as superheroes around there. Not, not outside of comic books and kid’s shows...
[from the get-go, he hasn’t stopped to puzzle out and get his bearings and it shows. he’s not sure he wants to get down to that right now, either.]
Well, anyway. Doesn’t change the present, huh? Let’s see if I can pop this sucker open. Might wanna scoot back a bit...
no subject
[He thought a moment and shrugs.]
I know there are action figures of me, but I don't know if there are comic books or kid's shows.
[He really hadn't paid attention, except he had been given an action figure once as a joke from Rhodey.]
Right.. stupid chair getting in the way of everything.
[It was annoying not being able to get as hands on with this project as he wanted to. However, why break his back when this young man was clearly willing to do it for him?]
Are you an engineer in Tabito?
no subject
from here, he'll start stamping on the panel as hard as he can with one boot.]
I'm actually-! [THUMP.] An officer! [THUMP.] Of the SDF-! [THUMP. THUMP.
beat.]
Ghaaa... [he pauses to line up his heel, then starts pressing, using the bolted-down table as leverage. he looks liable to pop, but before any braincells can explode with all the effort, there's a crack, then a pop, and the panel at Tony's end peeks up juuuust enough for fingers to snag it and pull up.]
no subject
[Tony raises an eyebrow at that comment, but he didn't know the young man. Maybe he didn't have the brains for it. Although they were trying to break into a panel on the floor when Manabu had an ox for a roommate.}
And an officer of SDF is... your military or police force? The driver of an ice cream truck? What?
[He smirks, pleased, when Manabu gets the panel up. Not bad.]
Kon'nichiwa.
no subject
Kind of, uh, both. [er, wait.] Not the ice cream part, that is. Space Defense Force. We help keep the trains safe on and off-planet...
[he sits up a little, as if just that little difference would give him a look-see as to whatever secrets have popped open on Tony's side.]
What's it look like over there?
no subject
[He gives Manabu a moment to laugh at his joke, should he choose to do so. It was hilarious after all.]
So you're used to these kinds of trains? They're in your world?
[He shakes his head.]
And I can't see anything from here, just a crack and shadow.
no subject
while climbing to his feet:] Ye-yeah. It's how folks get planet to planet. The SDF has a division that builds and maintains them, so hopefully...
[...hopefully, there's familiar components under the hood. it's not an ideal starting point in his opinion, but if the engine's going to be inaccessible, then...]
'Scuse me, I'm just gonna-- [he steps over the edge of the panel and shimmies himself beside Tony and that chair of his, crouching back down so he can get his fingers under the material and lift it up enough for both of them to see.]
Water pipes...oxygen pipes... [electrical wires? seems right. Manabu frowns, wracking his brains to remember what the guts of the other trains looked like. much more colorful and lit-up, that's for sure. that'd be because of all the...uh...]
...This...doesn't look at all right. Er, not complete? There's...so much missing...
no subject
Tony rolls his eyes and rolls further back as Manabu climbs over him again. He loathes being stuck in this thing. He wants to be down on the floor looking at all the pipes and wires!
Oh what the hell.
He grunts at the effort, but pushes himself up off the chair and crouches down next to Manabu so he can see inside the panels. He reaches out and lightly touches a few pipes, nodding at which ones seem hot and which ones seem cold.]
What do you think are missing?
