Hey, everyone! Since we have so many new people on the train, I figure this is a good time for this. In two days, on Horseshoe 19, I'm going to run a wellness clinic. What that means is you come to the medical car, I make a medical file for you so we have a solid baseline to compare to in case you're ever feeling unwell or injured in some way. It'll help us on the medical staff help you, so volunteering would be appreciated.

Honestly, though, help a med student out? I don't want my charting skills to get rusty, and I'm not afraid to trip the stubborn folks. (Kidding!)

That's the plan. I'll be making medical files for everyone, that'll stay locked up for med staff eyes only.

But wow, a med student huh? Is it really tough?

It's definitely a lot of work, but it'll be worth it. Though I think the system in Japan is different than in the US, at least in my world. We don't have to go to a non-medical school before getting into the program, we can enter directly from high school.

Really? Yeah, that sounds a lot more efficient. How long would it take a student in Japan to graduate and become a doctor?

Six years. I'll be a full fledged doctor by 24. I have one more year of study, then two years of clinicals.

Oh nice. Yeah, that's definitely better than the eight years it takes to become a doctor in the states.

Not that I really know or anything, but I've heard it's pretty tough.

Yeah. From everything I've heard, the clinical years are the worst, so I'm a bit intimidated to start it. But I've done worse and scarier.

Well, I know being stuck on the train kind of puts things on hold for now, but good luck with your studies.
