Hey, got a quick question for the magic people on the train who used books to learn! Any of you got any book titles you can share? Or know how a guy can learn to summon, get fiends or...uh, [ His voice grows quiet, but still audible. ] What should I call them?

--Youma! [ ok he's back ] Anyone who knows how to summon youma! Or any magic that's uhh... useful, but not for a fight. Anything at all!

My pal's here with me, Taiki-- he's summoned before, but he's looking to find new ways to do it--so anything you can tell us would be great! Thanks!

[ There's a small noise of interest. He does remember now Light saying something about materia. ]

Right, materia- you use that for any magic? I remember Lightning bringing up something about it now.

[ It'd been so long he forgot. ]

Yeah, they're good for all kinds of magic. The different colors are the different types.

Those orbs, yep, that's my magic.

Different types of magic?

[He really doesn't know anything about magic at all. Magic isn't really... defined in his world. There is an ocean in the sky, stars in the ocean, beasts that fly through the air and creatures such as himself but those are just things he sees as magical being a Taika. To those that live there, they are everyday things.

Yeah. Well, some of 'em will give you special skills or abilities or-- [he waves a hand dismissively before remembering the comm is set to voice only; a two second silence ensues] --but anyway.

The green ones are your typical magic spells. The red ones are for Summoning. The blue ones are support types; you pair 'em with other materia to give 'em something extra. There are yellow and purple materia, too, for other stuff.

Oh okay... And in your world can anyone use them? The materia I mean...

Yeah. It's pretty basic. Not everyone is very good at it, mind you, but anyone can use 'em if they can get their hands on 'em.

He nodded, "Is it... something that grows in your world?"

Or forms perhaps? Tai had springs that produced giant gem stones so it's not too hard for him to imagine magical spheres growing naturally in a land.

That's...not entirely inaccurate, actually. It sort of...forms when Mako pools up in an area. It occurs naturally but it's rare.

Ah. I understand. [Mostly, it forms when something else pooled up, it was rare.]

If it is rare is it something only those with means have access to?

Sort of? I guess?

Shinra used to manufacture it in the Mako Reactors but that was before... [a whole bunch of stuff] ...I never had to worry about it. I had access to whatever I wanted.

The train didn't have any problems getting the materia I requested. [So long as it fell into a certain category of utility anyway.]

[Ah so it was something that could be made as well as a natural resource.

He has no idea who Shinra is or what a Mako Reactor is- though he can guess.] That's good... that you can get it here I mean.

[theturksway]

Yeah. It's pretty convenient.

[A moment of silence follows. Look, he's not certain if he should continue. There was a reason for this initially, wasn't there? He should probably ask if Taiki was interested in trying it or not...]

Eh. You wanted to Summon something, right?

Um yes. [He nodded] I guess... [He glances at Tidus.] Tidus thought it was a good idea... since it is something I sort of could do before...

No, thanks a lot! [ Here, Tidus can pipe up! ] We'll look into 'em. Summoning materia, and then-- blue for support. But you have to pair them?

[theturksway]

Nah, you don't have to. Might get a bonus if you do though. Blue is useless on its own so go for the Red for Summoning or Green for magic spells. I could explain the Yellow and Purple ones if you want but didn't seem really relevant to what you're asking for.

[Also, rude, kinda? You just...don't want his help, huh. Fine, he'll keep his Summon to himself. He didn't want to hand it over anyway.]

[ Tidus doesn't come from a world where you can just ask to borrow a summon?! But- ]

Right, but they sound useful, 'specially if you don't need to learn the magic. --Well, maybe for another time. [ Since right now is for Taiki. ]

Would you mind showing Taiki your summon sometime? Carbuncle?

Only if you don't mind... [He figures if it was not magic Reno was happy to show then he would not have been juggling materia that time.]

The magic's in the orbs. So you just have to have the mental capacity to use it. [Or something like that. It was a rare case of 'it's easier to do than to say'.]

Yeah! It ain't hard to Summon him a few times a day. 'Sides, he's cute.

[Wait. He just admitted that. But it really wasn't because Reno thought the Summon was cute--rather, he thought Taiki would think so and like the little guy. Oh well. Too late to take it back now.]

Yeah? [ Huh. ...He's seen Reno bring the little guy out, but it's still bizarre in a way. He's too used to the way it works for Yuna. Nevertheless- ] If you let him out regularly then, you mind showing him off today?

[ He looks over at Taiki as he asks that. ] You okay with that?

Yes. [He nodded, he was interested in seeing Reno's summons and if he's cute then that is even more reason to want to.]

If that's alright...

No problem~. I can show him off any time ya want. Just name it.

[ Hmm. ] We'll be done with this in about ten, y'think Taiki? [ A beat. ] Where will you be around?

[ Hopefully the question is distinct enough without the video feed for Reno to know Tidus is asking him that last one. ]

[He nodded at Tidus' question. Ten minutes sounded about right. He looked back at Reno to hear his answer.]
