Morning of Grasshopper Day 4 [video]
[ In Cabin 2:A, Curufin flails and falls out of his bunk with a crash, as usual when having a prophetic dream. Sorry, roommates! He disentangles his legs from the blankets, gathers himself up from the floor, grins with embarrassment at his long-suffering roomies, and then he scrambles over to the ICP on the little table. ]
Ah. . . good morning, Void Warriors. It seems I've had another premonitory dream, and like the others, it must be about the next mission. There wasn't anywhere near as much detail in this dream as in the others, though, and I don't know what to make of it.
There was just a clamor as of a battle taking place, but the sounds receded. [ Wry laugh. ] I must not have been in that fight, or I'd have known it!
Then suddenly there was a blaring alarm, maybe one of those modern sorts that they put on emergency vehicles or on buildings to warn of tornado weather? I had the feeling that some danger was approaching, even aside from the fact of the alarm. And then it screamed out again.
That's all. [ He scratches his head in puzzlement. ]
Jeez, I need some coffee.

I didn't even get that. It was-
[Like being on Tevaral again, she thinks but doesn't say.]
I was underground, with friends - or people I knew, somehow. Nothing happened, but there was so much fear... The kind that keeps you awake, and you can't decide whether to curl up and cry or run away.
We were in sleeping bags, too.
[She's not looking forward to tomorrow, in other words.]

Not offhand...
[She can't think right now of what would get her to change her focus, but she thinks back to Tidus and Lightning's document of the mission parameters, and-
'mystical mumbo-jumbo']
Maybe one of the teams is specifically dealing with visions? I know I'd want to help with that.
[Enough to ignore what Orange Team is doing, though?]
Do we have enough of a sample for people from other teams?
no subject
Do you mean a sample of various visions? So far we only have three dreams reported. Mine and Nerdanel's were different, but yours and Misa's were the same. We're all Team Orange. So, unless one or more of those three dreams refers to what will happen to other teams, then we Orangies are going to have an interesting variety of experiences. Or maybe some of us will end up going with other teams, and that's the reason for the differences.

And then she's just genuinely baffled.]
'Orangies?'
[She knows it's off-topic.]
But - okay, so can we assume anything else?
[Can is better than should, in this instance.]
no subject
I don't know what else we can assume, based on so little data. Can you think of anything, Nita?

I think most train slang is news to me, then.
[Then she sighs.]
Part of our mission will take place underground? There wasn't a visible sky in my dream.
[But who knows what that will mean, in the end? Is it just one team's work, is it symbolic, etc.]
Though, wait, go back a little in your dream - screamed?
[Hopefully he just means an alarm blare, there...]

I guess it could get worse. We could start hearing about "Reddies," "Purplies," and "Bluies."
[ He tilts his head quizzically. ] Just underground, with sleeping bags? Not even a glimpse of what was above? Sounds as though your dream was no more detailed than mine or Mother's. Mine could have been aboveground and out-of-doors, but I didn't see a sky either, so I don't know. No buildings or trees or grass or anything else that would tell me where I was.
[ Yeah, who knows? ]
I meant the alarm blared out shrilly, again. I don't think it was any louder than it was before. It just seemed more urgent, somehow. Or maybe that was just me, reacting to hearing it a second time.

Not an easy metaphor, there. A lab in one place, a cavern in another...
We'll find out as much as we can come tomorrow, I guess.
[Though the way she says it, it sounds more like a promise.]
Good place to wrap?
Dreams, prophetic or otherwise, can speak in metaphors or in literal description. In the past, these dreams have tended to be literal.
But yes, cavern, lab. . . . whatever. We'll find out soon, as you say.
Yes!
And we'd better be able to call on each other if we need backup.
no subject
We will do that.
