Audio. Late in the evening of Day 15 of Month Bassoon
(( Joint post with Wade and Peter. Peter is in Blue and Wade is in Red))
[ Peter didn’t mean to turn the ICP on, honest. But he got scared on the VR system and jumped back- right onto the ICP which is why this broadcast has come to be a thing. ]
[ It’s just unfortunate that he’s currently grounded and not actually supposed to be playing video games. ]
OH MY GOD, WHY DOES IT HAVE SO MANY TEETH!? YOU HANDLE IT!
[ Peter screams at whoever it is that he’s decided to join him on this videogame quest. ]
Shitshitshitshit!
Oh my god! Where did it even come from!? Oh My God this it for me! RIP
[ Wade sighs, this kid was going to scare him more than any of the monsters coming at them. ]
Calm down, Spidey, you're stressing me out!!
[ He shouts back, whipping around and trying not to trip in his cables so he could virtually rescue the screaming teenager. ]
Go left and blast them in the ass, make sure they're thinking outside the bun here! Nobody's pressin' 'F' for anyone else today!
[ He might be less jumpy if he wasn’t currently being a bad kid but whatever. It’s fine. Except it’s not fine-the thing with too many teeth is gonna-oh! Oh it’s dead now. ]
Uh. Sorry. It just-like.. Came out of nowhere. I mean, I opened a door and it popped out at me and it was like Five Nights at Freddy’s or something, you know? And like My spideysenses don’t work on video games which would be hella useful-and Oh My God! Look out behind you!
[ He blasts another creature with the virtual gun and takes a breath. ]
Okay, I’m better now.
[ He side eyes the kid. ]
Five Night's at Freddy's scares you? That's a kids game. The trick is walking into a room and being the scariest thing in there, you gotta be unpredictable and then you're never-
[ He pauses briefly to take out a few new spawns. ]
Gonna get taken by surprise! In other words, chill the fuck out kid you're gonna do fine.
Uh… that’s not really how jump scares work?
[ Speaking of jump scares-something else must have popped up because Peter shrieks again and immediately blasts it while jumping off the ICP so the audio cuts. ]

[ Peter lets out as Wade covers his mouth and he's forced to just listen to the conversation. Is Wade actually managing to distract Tony from the fact Peter just completely ignored his punishment? ]
[ Probably not. But maybe he'll end up less angry somehow. ]
no subject
[ Wade raises his small hand up to cover his heart. ]
I was teaching him to not immediately panic when something was coming at him. Kid has some lungs on him though, thought I was gonna go deaf with all that yelling. Good thing my ear drums heal fast, huh, Spidey?
[He looks back at the muted teenager, hoping his mouth didn’t start running the second the hand was gone. Maybe what he should have been teaching him was how to lie. At it seemed like he hadn’t mentioned the arrow wound, or they’d both be dead. ]
But anyway,
[ He turns back to Tony, still situated to try and block Peter from view. ]
Tell me more about these classes, I’m an excellent teacher and people studying under me very rarely die.
no subject
Yes but he's used to playing and viewing things as video games. I'm not sure he'll be able to treat it like a real lesson if he knows he has a mask and controllers to use.
[His gaze also shifts to Peter when Wade looks to him. It really annoyed him that his influence here was being questioned to the point it was making him doubt it himself. Did Peter realize how much it sucked that he'd broken this trust? No, that was jumping to conclusions. It was just Peter being dumb. This wasn't.. Peter still thought of him as.. It didn't matter. His job was to keep the kid safe, not to be his best friend.]
Peter, you're grounded for a week, kid. Don't you dare screw this up again. You won't like what happens.
[And Tony would have to come up with it, because he didn't know what would happen at the moment.
For Wade, Tony takes a moment to decide if the man was being serious or not.]
Well, a number of us on the council have planned setting up a schedule to offer classes for those interested in an assortment of weapons. Dread and I are going to do hand to hand, Feanor and Ignis are going to do blades, Sarai and Ash are going to do firearms. It is always beneficial to have additional supporters in the classes particularly when we pair off and spar. Are you interested in assisting?
no subject
Um... mmhmm..
[ He responds to Wade, still half-hiding behind him. And then Tony speak directly to him again, almost casually and for some reason that causes his temper to flare up. ]
A week!?
[ He demands, shoving Wade's hand away from his mouth before the guilt locks back into place. He really shouldn't be upset. It could be a whole lot worse. ]
...Yes sir.
[ He deflates, looking down at the ground. ]
no subject
Woah, sorry, you just said like alot of things with alot of names I don't know. I wanted to interrupt you but it was like I was hitting some sort of gateway when I tried to talk. Mondo weird. Anyway, now that my mouth is back online, I'm supes interested in helping out, even if I'm a 'loose cannon' and whatever.
[ He looks back at Peter when the kid shoves his hand and immediately sounds like he's going to argue. He really needed to smile and nod and then break the rules once the jailer was away. ]
Like, a train week, or a real week? A train week is sooooooo long.
no subject
One week.
no subject
Yes, sir...
[ He repeats, feeling the guilt hit like a heavy weight. He lets out a sigh and tries to think of something else he can do that's not video games. ]
N-Night, Mr Stark.
[ Once Tony's left he turns back to Wade, feeling a little awkward because that was all very much... well... awkward. ]
S-so uh... what are your thoughts on battleship?
no subject
[ Wade wails at Tony's retreating back, the one is just too easy. ]
So what'd you do that pissed of Mr. Mom so much? Other than playing games just now? Cause like dayum, Spidey, he was big mad.
[ He just has to get in on this drama, Stark had looked ready to knock Peter to the moon. ]
no subject
I uh... took an eleven year old through a portal without telling anyone where we were going.
[ Because he knew the adults would stop them if they knew. ]
But I had it totally handled! We didn't even get hurt! I mean, mostly in part because of the uh safety apparatus thingys but still!
Anyways, he grounded me yesterday for two days but then changed it one and it's been over twenty-four hours since then so does that count as a full day or did he mean all of day fifteen? I mean, in my defense, it's really confusing.
[ ... ]
Except it's not confusing because I did know what he meant, and he knows that and fact that I decided to ignore him I guess really made him mad.

In the future, maybe give someone a heads up, even if it's a rando, that way if something happens at least someone can say they saw you. Do you wanna end up on an episode of Buzzfeed Unsolved? That's where you're headed.
[ Yeah, that sounds good, definitely, and he's right, he seems unharmed. ]
So .... Did the portal at least go somewhere cool?
no subject
[ Maybe he should have left that part out. ]
But I wanted to know what was happening-or why what was happening, was happening. Like why were they taking kids? Why the rainy season? I want to know if there was some other way to resolve it without anyone else getting hurt. And then I accidentally killed some... I-I didn't mean too but one almost got to Buttercup-who I was supposed to be watching and kicked it really hard and knocked down a tree.
But I tried so hard to get them to talk-but no matter what it was like they didn't realize I was trying to talk to them-I know they could talk. Buttercup and followed some and we heard them complaining about the rain and stuff which-you know-mood.
And the Portal led the place where the goblins were coming from and we immediately got caught.
no subject
Jeeze, that's so much, Spidey. Good on you trying to save a bunch of murdering goblins, that's some strong moral character you got there. But, you know he's freaked out 'cause he cares, right?
[ Probably. ]
[ Most likely. ]
Now this is gonna sound all gross and sappy, but if you feel the compulsion to make bad choices in the future -- and trust me, I know they can strike at any time -- you can give me a heads up. I promise to not hinder your creative crime-fighting process.
no subject
Yeah, I know. I do-I just. I had to try.. and I shouldn't have taken Buttercup with me-that was stupid-we both knew it was stupid before we did it but I didn't think leaving her where I couldn't immediately get to her was a very good idea either, you know?
[ Buttercup's okay though, that's the important part. He didn't accidentally get her killed but he could have and that thought is really starting to sink in. ]
Heh. Thanks, I guess. But then we'll just both be in trouble.
no subject
Look, man, I'm like, the king of bad decisions and poorly thought out plans. You got your bad idea and you stuck to it, and executed it the best way you could have. Both of you popped out safe so take it as a win even if The Man is tryin' to bring you down.
A good Spectacular Spiderman always listens to his moral compass first, right? Gotta trust that it's always gonna point you north. And it's better to be in trouble with someone else, that way you can dump the blame on them and run, yeah?
And I'll take getting in trouble if it means you're not gettin' swatted by a metaphorical newspaper. Besides, if you're gonna make bad choices, I'd rather you do it in the house.
[ He takes the good hand off his neck and offers it up for a fist bump. ]
You did good, Spidey. Now, is that Battleship game the cool digital one or the original analog? If there's a microchip in it, he might try to say its one of them vidya games you youths are all obsessed with.
no subject
I think this makes you the cool mom.
[ He offers small, slightly mischievous grin. ]
No, it's just the original, Gwen and I were playing earlier. She creamed me.
no subject
I’m the coolest mom, and how did you get beat at Battleship? Its Battleship! Just lean over and look at where her ships are, easy peasey. Gotta learn the strats, kid.
no subject
I mean, I’m pretty sure she was using her Spider-sense and that’s cheating too since hers is like way more useful than mine.
But I’m still not gonna cheat.
no subject
Sometimes you have to be shady to get things done, you know? Like hide fish in someones bunk when they’re being a dick so they learn their lesson. Or steal a time travel device to make good choices.
no subject
[ He shakes his head. Really, it just kind of an annoying feeling that there's danger but typically not what the danger actually is. ]
Also, also of those are weirdly specific examples and I'm really concerned.
no subject
[ Wade grins. They'd never find everything he has hidden. ]
So can you like.... train your senses? I know other Spidey's haven't been 100% useless. Maybe yours are broken?
no subject
Dude. I have like super sensitive senses. That's just mean.
And I don't know.. I've only had my powers about two years now, so maybe it's a thing that develops over time?
no subject
[ His hand darts out suddenly to smack Peter on the arm. ]
Didja see that one comin'?
no subject
[ He scoots back to avoid getting smacked again. ]
No, It doesn't work well all the time.
no subject
[ Wade snorts. He thinks he's funny, at least. ]
