fiddlesticks 25, video from standard coach: open to all
Sooooo, not being able to talk to most of the train that day sucked, huh? I don't know what to think about any of that, but since we can talk to each other now, I was thinking: How about we share where we're from, and see who's from worlds like ours?
And who speaks the same languages too! An actual list be better if that ever happens again, but for now, tell us about the kind of place you're from, what makes home home to you! You got kings or dragons? Machines? Portals to other worlds? Talking sea life? You just trying to get through school?
I'll go first to give you guys an idea, but share whatever you feel like!
( ooc: this is open to all, meaning feel free to put up a post and chat with other characters! )

Uh...sure, I guess. Name's Scintilla, I come from a port city called Limsa Lominsa in the country of Eorzea. It's been a long while since I was there, I spend what little free time I have back home working in Ishgard to the north. The main city-states've all got their own governing bodies, and then there's the empire of Garlemald far to the northeast--that's where you'll find most magitek. Tough to find machinery outside of Garlean control, but there's a little bit if you know whereabouts to look and who to ask.
Plenty of talking sea life, too. Matter of fact there's beast tribes for just about every form of life; wings, gills, scales, lots of 'em real personable folks.

[Though Sarai grins at that.]

Been known to pick up work in Ul'dah now and again, and I've been to the Steppes a little while back. Real nice out there.
no subject
I'm glad you like the Steppes, though! Irves says I like Limsa only because I am homesick for the smell of fish, which I assure you is not the case.
no subject
Uh--yeah. You kinda get sick of the smell of fish after a while, but I do miss the saltwater smell just a bit.
no subject
We didn't fish saltwater, but I do admit to a fondness for the smell of salt water...

[Fandaniel had already told here there were two others on the train, but it was going to take a second for that to set in. Not in the least because it was still crazy.]
Don't realize you're missin' the ocean 'til you can't smell the tide anymore.
no subject
[Sarai doesn't find such things too odd--there were a number of things, she felt, outside the Steppes that defied explanation; what's one more thing?]
The first time I stepped into Kugane, my sister almost had to grab me so I didn't go run and hide--so we sort of clung to each other. We'd never seen so many people at once--my tribe never really went to the naadam. Other than to spectate, really.

[She laughed softly while piecing things together; Scintilla would be the first to admit she wasn't all that book-smart in the way Urianger or Cid might have been, but she knew what one plus one usually was.]
Odd question, if you don't mind. You don't happen to know a fellow on the train without a shadow, do you? Tall, dark, and Ascian?
no subject
[Sarai says this rather dryly--after all, Fandaniel is Ascian, and the Au Ra is definitely not a card carrying member of the Ascian Fan Club, Eorzea Edition. But then she shrugs.]
Considering our rather interesting circumstances, I've called a truce with him, until we can figure out what, exactly, is going on.
no subject
[Wow, there really was no delicate way to put this. Or if there was, she sure as hell didn't know it.]
...one of the other Warriors of Light he told me about, right? Because, uh...so'm I.
no subject
[Yeah, yeah, pretty awkward all considered, but not offensive. At least not in Sarai's eyes.]
Well, then, in any case, it's a pleasure. I'm Sarai Thunderstorm! And you are?
no subject
[At least it had gone over well, though after everything to do with Ardbert she was still pretty distinctly uncomfortable about the concept.]
...Shards, I can deal with. Learnin' there was more than one Source was what threw me, but I got no reason to think he's lyin' to me just yet.
no subject
[Sarai heaved a bit of a sigh, then.] That seems to be a commonality where he's from, and once I was told of it, well.
[The Au Ra shrugs.] So I doubt Fandaniel is lying, either. I do not think it would further his aims, whatever they may be. A grain of salt, oh, take it still--as you say, he is an Ascian--but. For the moment, I do not think he is an enemy.
no subject
[She sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose before adjusting her glasses.]
No--it'd be a real stretch to say 'I trust him', but I at least trust his word when it comes to simple facts. Hard not to, knowin' what they're afte-
[record scratch]
'...Whatever they may be'? You don't-...you don't know?
no subject
Nabriales, Lahabrea. Iyegohrm. Elidibus. There are likely some others I've forgotten, but...
I know Urianger had begun to explain crossing realms and Shards when the Scions were being Called, but we haven't actually managed...
You mean you have?? [Guess who's equally shocked!]

[Scintilla slowly lowered her face into her hands with a quiet and drawn out 'fffffffff' sound hissed through her teeth which trailed off before ending in an expletive. Time discrepancies, of course. That should have already occurred to her, given the First and the Source's initial difference.]
...We need to talk. Meet me in one of them quiet coaches, bring your husband if y'want or I can tell you and you can tell him. I'll tell you what I know, so long as you think you're ready to hear it.
no subject
I'll tell him, and then I'll be in touch, all right? Oh, dear.
[Likely she'd need Dread just for the support...]

[give it time, we gotta burn down garlemald eventually.]
As for him...yeah, we've met. Not before the train, but we've talked.
no subject
[ But with that said-- ]
What work did you do? In Ishgard, you said?
no subject
[sure could]
Far as Ishgard goes, I was helpin' rebuild part of the city. I'm a blacksmith by trade, and they needed a fair few able hands to build the residential district back up. Region's recovering from a war, and there's displaced folks needin' better housing and the like.
no subject
[ The people on other worlds might need help, but still. ]
What's it like in Ishgard usually then? What's it known for and all that?
no subject
City itself's a real grand thing of stone, all tall towers and noble mansions and what have you. An isolated sort of place, though a bit less so now.
no subject
That just makes me miss the sun in general. And a breeze once in a while. [ But, he shouldn't get distracted. ] Hmm, but I wish I knew more places to picture it... I can kinda imagine Limsa though. There's a few places close to the sea where I'm from.
