fiddlesticks 25, video from standard coach: open to all

Sooooo, not being able to talk to most of the train that day sucked, huh? I don't know what to think about any of that, but since we can talk to each other now, I was thinking: How about we share where we're from, and see who's from worlds like ours?

And who speaks the same languages too! An actual list be better if that ever happens again, but for now, tell us about the kind of place you're from, what makes home home to you! You got kings or dragons? Machines? Portals to other worlds? Talking sea life? You just trying to get through school?

I'll go first to give you guys an idea, but share whatever you feel like!

( ooc: this is open to all, meaning feel free to put up a post and chat with other characters! )

I was born in a tiny little blip of a fishing village--Dalamiq clan. My sister Irves and I were sent to find out why the red moon fell.

I'm glad you like the Steppes, though! Irves says I like Limsa only because I am homesick for the smell of fish, which I assure you is not the case.

[She tilted her head a little at that, ear flicking curiously--weird, that sounded like something the Scions would have been aware of at some point. She was pretty certain the face wasn't familiar, and the name didn't ring a bell either.]

Uh--yeah. You kinda get sick of the smell of fish after a while, but I do miss the saltwater smell just a bit.
sweetnessandfight: (uncertain)

[personal profile] sweetnessandfight 2020-06-18 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
[Really, it was that small. Her clan didn't move around much, but no telling, they could've been taken over by another since the last time Sarai had visited...Scions or no.]

We didn't fish saltwater, but I do admit to a fondness for the smell of salt water...

It's kinda like the background noise of a city, isn't it?

[Fandaniel had already told here there were two others on the train, but it was going to take a second for that to set in. Not in the least because it was still crazy.]

Don't realize you're missin' the ocean 'til you can't smell the tide anymore.
sweetnessandfight: (me likey)

[personal profile] sweetnessandfight 2020-06-24 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
It's true! And then it feels...off. Odd. Like you've lost a bit of home. You know there's a lot of space between the Steppes and Limsa, as an example. It felt strange to lose the smell of grass, too, if that makes sense?

[Sarai doesn't find such things too odd--there were a number of things, she felt, outside the Steppes that defied explanation; what's one more thing?]

The first time I stepped into Kugane, my sister almost had to grab me so I didn't go run and hide--so we sort of clung to each other. We'd never seen so many people at once--my tribe never really went to the naadam. Other than to spectate, really.
lightsmith: (in the end i wouldn't care)

[personal profile] lightsmith 2020-06-24 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Mm...yeah, makes sense. And the naadam's a real chaotic thing; bout on par with the markets in Limsa as far as crowds, almost even as bloodthirsty.

[She laughed softly while piecing things together; Scintilla would be the first to admit she wasn't all that book-smart in the way Urianger or Cid might have been, but she knew what one plus one usually was.]

Odd question, if you don't mind. You don't happen to know a fellow on the train without a shadow, do you? Tall, dark, and Ascian?
sweetnessandfight: (in my sights)

[personal profile] sweetnessandfight 2020-06-25 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, no. I don't mind. We've met.

[Sarai says this rather dryly--after all, Fandaniel is Ascian, and the Au Ra is definitely not a card carrying member of the Ascian Fan Club, Eorzea Edition. But then she shrugs.]

Considering our rather interesting circumstances, I've called a truce with him, until we can figure out what, exactly, is going on.
lightsmith: (in the end i wouldn't care)

[personal profile] lightsmith 2020-06-25 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
So you must be, uh...

[Wow, there really was no delicate way to put this. Or if there was, she sure as hell didn't know it.]

...one of the other Warriors of Light he told me about, right? Because, uh...so'm I.
sweetnessandfight: (uncertain)

[personal profile] sweetnessandfight 2020-06-25 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
Oh! I'd heard...yes, yes, I am. And my husband is the big Roegadyn; that'd be Dread.

[Yeah, yeah, pretty awkward all considered, but not offensive. At least not in Sarai's eyes.]

Well, then, in any case, it's a pleasure. I'm Sarai Thunderstorm! And you are?
lightsmith: (suddenly see the world's beauty)

[personal profile] lightsmith 2020-06-25 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
Scintilla, Scintilla Caminus. S' a pleasure.

[At least it had gone over well, though after everything to do with Ardbert she was still pretty distinctly uncomfortable about the concept.]

...Shards, I can deal with. Learnin' there was more than one Source was what threw me, but I got no reason to think he's lyin' to me just yet.
sweetnessandfight: (You did what with what??)

[personal profile] sweetnessandfight 2020-06-25 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
I...don't think he is. Have you met a Hyur here? There are many, but the one I mean is the one who is the leader of the train. Tall, though most everyone is taller than me. A little weathered, pepper-and-salt hair, beard and mustache? His name is Tony Stark.

[Sarai heaved a bit of a sigh, then.] That seems to be a commonality where he's from, and once I was told of it, well.

[The Au Ra shrugs.] So I doubt Fandaniel is lying, either. I do not think it would further his aims, whatever they may be. A grain of salt, oh, take it still--as you say, he is an Ascian--but. For the moment, I do not think he is an enemy.
lightsmith: (waste the time we have lamenting)

[personal profile] lightsmith 2020-06-25 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
'Fraid I ain't familiar personally, not just yet. But the concept of crossing walls between realms, that's not all that shockin' to me at this point.

[She sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose before adjusting her glasses.]

No--it'd be a real stretch to say 'I trust him', but I at least trust his word when it comes to simple facts. Hard not to, knowin' what they're afte-

[record scratch]

'...Whatever they may be'? You don't-...you don't know?
sweetnessandfight: (o...kay)

[personal profile] sweetnessandfight 2020-06-25 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
Before coming to this train, Fandaniel was not an Ascian we knew on my version of Eorzea. So...no.

Nabriales, Lahabrea. Iyegohrm. Elidibus. There are likely some others I've forgotten, but...

I know Urianger had begun to explain crossing realms and Shards when the Scions were being Called, but we haven't actually managed...

You mean you have?? [Guess who's equally shocked!]
lightsmith: (we must one day meet the end)

[personal profile] lightsmith 2020-06-25 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know 'im myself either, but...seven hells, you're missin' one.

[Scintilla slowly lowered her face into her hands with a quiet and drawn out 'fffffffff' sound hissed through her teeth which trailed off before ending in an expletive. Time discrepancies, of course. That should have already occurred to her, given the First and the Source's initial difference.]

...We need to talk. Meet me in one of them quiet coaches, bring your husband if y'want or I can tell you and you can tell him. I'll tell you what I know, so long as you think you're ready to hear it.
sweetnessandfight: (someone's given her the vapors)

[personal profile] sweetnessandfight 2020-06-26 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh, bloody hells, just the look on Scintilla's face made Sarai dread what was coming. No puns intended, either. She bit her lower lip. Missing one?? That was...bad. Bad.]

I'll tell him, and then I'll be in touch, all right? Oh, dear.

[Likely she'd need Dread just for the support...]
