[Video] Egret 24 ~ Train Council

I found out awhile ago I was nominated and I... have been struggling to figure out how to address this. I'm worried that I may have been nominated because of who certain individuals may think I am.

[ Luke paused, glancing away and biting his lip; it is entirely obvious that he's very nervous. It takes him a moment to look back, taking a deep breath before he plowed on. ]

My name is Luke Skywalker; I'm the son of Lord Vader, who was here previously. In my version of home, I am the commander of his Black Squadron, and... if my father has anything to say about it, the heir to the Imperial Throne.

[ He hesitated again, looking down as he fidgeted with his hands, taking another deep breath. ]

There are a lot of things I'm not that others have expected me to be, so I'll speak as to what I am and my experience. At eleven, I was enrolled at the Prefsbelt Imperial Academy, for pilot and officer training. I graduated at nineteen, and was promoted to commander in the middle of a battle to defend the Destroyer I was stationed on. I have been in three dogfights, and I was in the middle of an on going mission to usurp the current Emperor before coming here.

I grew up in a galaxy where the Emperor's word was absolute; where if you had the money and the favor, you could get whatever you wanted. It's not... a pleasant place at my point in time. My father and I, as well as a team of others, have been doing what we could to make things better, with myself taking point in attempts to gather allies.

I don't know how that will translate to being on train council. I admit, my diplomatic abilities are... lacking, as recent events have made evident. I'm doing what I can as a Purple team lead, but I know there's much I still have to learn. If I'm chosen, I will do my best to step up and learn from all of you, so I may serve you as best I can.

If you listen to your constituents, you'll do just fine. It's like running a House. You must see it as a whole, not simply individuals sometimes, and sometimes as the individuals.

A House, a squadron; yes, I know.

It's my hope to do the same for the entire galaxy one day. Perhaps this will be good practice?

[ A smile attempted to come to his face, but it looked forced in his nervousness. ]

[ Oh Luke, you're not attempting to fool Misa now are you? ]

It should be! And you'll do fine, since you have commanded a squadron before. Just think of it like that.

[ She's trying to be helpful. ]

Well... perhaps.

[ Nevermind he basically took command for a few days. And his father was the only pilot that was still alive after... everything. ]

I know these things, trust me.

[Raven will make this quick, when she finds Luke. Just passing him a cup of tea, and offering a half-smile.]

I'm sorry that others have you worried. I can't speak for what they might know, because I've only known you. From all I can tell, you have a good heart--and I'm honored and grateful to be on your side and team. I...also trust you, in a way I trust very few without a lot of time.

[Head ducking into her cowl in a bit of shyness.]

Someone nominated me for Council too, and whether I'm on it or not--if you need someone to listen, and to talk things out with, I'll do what I can to be there for you.

[ He accepted the tea graciously, a small smile coming to his face. ]

Thank you; I appreciate the voice of confidence.

[ He pressed a hand to his heard, inclining his head respectfully. ]

I wish you the best of luck as well.

We'll see. I'm not sure I'm known enough, and that's fine with me. I don't really seek out the spotlight. Thank you.

[Tony gave him a look.]

I know exactly who you are when I nominated you.

[ S I G H ]

I should have known.

Yes, well. I want good people working with me on the council and you've shown that you care about the people on this train.

What I heard from that self-deprecating speech you just made was, you went to an academy and got trained as an officer and pilot. You're young and capable. You know how to fight, how to avoid it, and have the heart to go usurp a government when it's doing the wrong things. And we've already discussed how you're a 'whatever it takes' sort of fellow.

Remind me again, how and of that disqualifies you?

[ Luke tried to hold a stubborn frown, before he finally let out a sigh, shaking his head. ]

I suppose I'm too used to people seeing the Imperial uniform first, even when I'm not wearing it.

Give yourself some credit, kid. You're more than that and people can see it. It's okay to be nervous though. It means you're taking this seriously and know it's important. I respect that.

The fact that nominating you also makes you squirm is simply a bonus. [Grin.]

[ Telli can't help herself. As soon as she finished watching Luke's video she hit reply and just started laughing hysterically.

This was too good. ]

[ Luke stared at the response for a long moment, before he let out an exasperated sigh. ]

You're confidence in me has been noted.

Darling, if it involves a lightsaber, piloting, or infiltrating a slaver's corporation with only two others and a Give Them Hell attitude I have the utmost confidence in your abilities; but we literally met because you couldn't find a polite way to tell a strange Zabrak 'no, I won't come to your shady club' and were drugged and robbed because of it.

[ Luke let out an awkward noise, his face turning a new shade of red that could give the red team's hoodies a run for their money. He looked away after a moment, letting out an awkward cough. ]

Th-that... I-I'm sure there was a better reason for that...

You're right. Obviously you were so entranced when you saw me on the street and simply had to see me naked. [ The sarcasm in her tone is so thick you could cut it with a knife ] How dare I sell myself short.

I doubt that's the case either.

[ He will probably regret being that blunt soon enough. ]

[ She pouts at the camera for a moment before grinning ]

That might have hurt my feelings if I didn't have such a high opinion of myself.

[ Luke let out an exasperated noise at that, before shaking his head. ]

At any rate, I felt it best to let others know what they were voting for. Whatever... happened after my point in time can't really be held against me.

[ Right? ]

It was a smart tactical decision and I agree, they should know who you actually are instead of continuing under false pretenses.

[ Her expression softens to show a hint of the true affection she has for Luke ]

And if you need any help just let me know. I'll even keep my commentary under control to not embarrass you.

[ Luke's expression softened as well, the faintest hint of a smile coming to his face. ]

I appreciate it.

[ He paused, before glancing away, an almost shy look coming to his face. ]

And... thank you for being patient with me.

[ For a moment she's immensely grateful they aren't in the same room together. This is perhaps the most open Luke's been with her since she was brought here and she'd missed their friendship more than she'd expected. Hopefully the distance would help disguise the riot of emotions running through her at the moment. ]

Of course. This entire experience was jarring for myself, I can only imagine how much worse it was for you.

What you have just said makes me hope you are elected.

Ah...

[ He has... no idea how to respond to that. ]

I mean. . . it's the fact that you have the experience of war, and the experience of having fought against a tyrant. And that you understand that in life, we must keep learning. Especially from each other.

I think you're pretty cool, Skywalker-san! I mean, you put up with me! So like. Yeah, you're... technically a rebel, I think??? Or an underground conspirator, which is pretty cool, since this Emperor dude sounds like bad news all around. I don't think that makes you BAD at leading, really.

[ Luke paused a moment, before letting out a faint laugh. ]

I appreciate it, though I feel like I have yet to be properly tested. At least not here.

True. [ He shrugs at him ]

But like. You're not being asked to lead an army here. Just wrangle a bunch of independent, chaotic people!
