Day 21. | Video
[ The feed snaps on to show the Doctor! He's looking a little stiff today but no one mind that. ]
Am I really doing this? [ He asks himself just briefly before sitting up a little straighter in frame.
Hullo Everyone! I'm the Doctor and It's come to my attention I was nominated for the train's council and I am very flattered but I have to be honest-politics is not my favorite thing-I could go into why but I'm hoping all those reasons don't apply here. So what why not?
So this is me-throwing my hat-probably a fez-fezzes are cool-into the ring for Council Member.
As for why you should vote for me well.. I have about 1600 years worth of experience traveling through Time and Space. I have seen quite a lot and have experience in helping all sorts of species, I can speak any language-well, for the most part-and I'm familiar with most cultures. I won't say all because even I'm still learning but that's also an important bit, I think. Being able to admit you don't know everything.
Some people who've met me will probably tell you I do actually know everything but those that know me better know the truth.
Still interested in getting to know you all-still happy to take over as a primary school teacher here and to volunteer my time to the medic car if needed-I'm also quite a good listener should anyone want to just vent. My door is always open.

So far, outta everyone who's made one of these things, you'd get my vote. Just because you talk about what you'd do for us. Looking after school learning, the medical side of things, sayin you'll be there for people. Those are important things. Being able to listen to those people. That's the most important thing.
[ He gives a broad smile and salutes the camera. ]
You've got my vote.

[Hey, they hung out with the weird short Dream Lord guy and the Doctor seemed cool, Reigen can back this guy!]
What's your specialty for teaching, Doctor?
no subject
I don't need to be on the council to help people, you know?
[ You know how he feels about saluting. ]
But thank you! Good to know I can always count on a friend.
[ A beat. ]
How're things on your end? I've been a bit busy here lately-you haven't had any uh... issues, have you? [ He means you haven't died recently, right? They're still not sure on that? ]
no subject
Hey! Thank you! You have my vote as well.
Which you should consider a compliment by the way, I don't usually bother with elections. [ But he's making a special exception. Just this once. ]
no subject
Ooh... that's a rather broad question, I'm afraid. How do you mean? What's my specialty for teaching little kids? They learn quite a lot, I've found, if you keep them entertained.
[ Yes, he does know, Doctor, and he knows how much it gets under your skin. Won't stop him, though. ]
Not... as of yet. I've been careful. But uh... if you've got time, maybe we can think of a way to test it out that.. doesn't involve horrible maiming or death.
Maybe...
[ He sighs. ]
Can I be honest and say I'm.. actually kinda nervous to find out?
no subject
Well, yeah, kids have a limited attention span...I meant more like a subject. Language? Math? History?
You'll just have to... you know, do what the rest of us do and try and avoid dying as much as possible.
...Anything these days?
no subject
Well.. several really. Maths, definitely. History is a bit touch and go for this situation, don't you think? Science is a must and probably grammar and reading comprehension.
It's the void-the whole thing feels off to me.
The TARDIS would know but I've no idea where she's got to.
[ Which bothers him. So. So Much. ]
[ There's a wince and a sigh. ]
How are you doing without her?
Well, as for the rest, I'd prefer not to do anything grisly but... I guess it's time for me to get either really brave or really paranoid.
About as well as you'd think, I'd suspect.
[ Not well at all, but he keeps himself moving. ]
You don't have to do either, Jack. I know you, and I know how you are-we'll just have to keep our fingers crossed I guess, until I can come up with something-limited supplies but I've still got the sonic so that helps.
[ He gives a small smile. ]
It's better than nothing, I guess. But is it not working right, then? Is the void messing with it a lot?
It worked much better on the space station. Still, I'll figure something out.

[Trowa has no idea how old he is, just a vague guess.]
If you need an assistance in the medical car, please let me know. I may not have as much experience, but I can stitch gashes and tie bandages better than most in my rough age range.
no subject
May I ask, since the way you said it, is Doctor more of a name or a title, and if so, what does it mean? [also, what is a fez?]
1600 is pretty impressive for a human, but flush of youth for an elf. Could I get some context for your Race?
I agree that admitting you don't know everything is an important step in life. Even Wizards don't try to claim they know everything. Except for Saruman, and that didn't end well for him.
I look forward to getting to know you better.

Yes-it's my name. I'm a Timelord-I'm the last of my kind, actually but I like to think I do them proud. Basically-it's our job to keep history going in the right direction. Not as easy as it might sound-especially now. I'm not usually one for politics, as a I stated. Even back on my home planet but if I can lend a hand. [ He shrugs. ] I will.
no subject
[ Knows what that implies and he is not happy about it. He likes children but he does not like soldiers and he sure as hell doesn't like children soldiers. ]
Well, we'll definitely be putting that to good use. Swing by the medic car sometime and say hullo to Wen Qing and myself.
no subject
I'll be sure to. I am on the team assigned to cook currently, so I can bring some food with me if you would like.

Time and space? You do not look like one of the maiar, nor are you human, I think! Tuor is the only one I know to have lived past that and his circumstances are... unique.
no subject
I do consider it a compliment. [ Yet another grin. ] How come you're voting this time? Because you'll have to put up with whoever sits in those Council seats alongside you?
no subject
[ She's curious about the 'time and space' part of that speech too, but she'll get to that later. ]
no subject
Other than that though, I like to think I'm a pretty good judge of character.
no subject
no subject
Well, you just make sure that things in time that are always supposed to happen-do happen. I'm particularly sensitive to those events so it's easy for me to pick them out. Although it has happened on a occasion that things don't pan out exactly how they're written in the history books-but who's keeping score, eh?
[ You know, aside from well, him. ]

Someone needs to keep score though. Otherwise...if people do not remember the Truth, then Lies become the Truth and events tend to repeat themselves.

Oh, and you judge my character is sterling? [ Yet another grin. ]

Well yes, you might have a point there but I can't be around to correct them all the time. I'm only 1800. Besides, you know humans, they only believe what they want-and very rarely is that actually the truth.
no subject
no subject
Ai! I am sorry. Whatever happend to your people?
no subject
[Glorfindel chuckles.] I do know humans. But you still have Time, it seems. When I was your age, we were in the midst of the first war with Sauron, forging the First Alliance. Which ended when a human chose to keep the Ring rather than destroy it. [He sighs.]

[ Her tone was apologetic, to an almost practiced degree. ]
