Before I came here, the residents of the train chose a Council.

They chose unwisely.

You ask me to bend my knee to an unworthy leader, one who you have chosen for me. I will not. If my refusal to swear allegiance to one not of my land, not of my clan, and not of my choice is objectionable to you, then now is the time to bring your complaints to me. I await them.

You wish to know how this train is really run? By all means, let me remind you.
It is run by the people we don’t know. To ends we don’t know. For reasons we don’t know. People that would not stop from kidnapping children to do their bidding and send them into danger to realise their arbitrary chosen goals. With no help in case anything goes wrong and only as much resources so they won’t outright die.
This is how it’s run.

As for the council, it was formed so there will be some semblance of order. So that matters that need deciding get decided swiftly. So that everyone was accounted for. You say people have chosen unwisely and I must disagree.

But don’t let my opinion prevent you from sharing your wisdom. Do tell why do you think it is unwise. I would love to hear if there’s any reason for it or is it just because you don’t like Tony Stark speaking with authority.

Oh, and swear allegiance to whoever you wish but if you’ll be hindering council’s efforts know that I will not stand idle and watch you destroy what we’re trying to build here. With meagre resources that we have.

You make your argument for me in your first breath. A rigid compliance with the strictures the train puts on us, because it's 'easy', is sacrificing our spirits.

By the same token, a sacrifice of our spirits for the sake of selfish control isn't acceptable either.

If you were looking for that rigid compliance, you're speaking to the wrong person. [Noldo rebel prince is definitely not your elf for that.] But you know what? Next time we land somewhere why don't you stay on that world, hm? That would be a true show of independence.

If you believe that saying we should not have to abdicate our personal responsibility and allow others to take care of us instead of living our own lives is sowing discord, so be it. When your position is less contemptible and cowardly I may listen to your suggestions.

I do not suggest you abdicate anything. Do you also wash your own clothes and prepare your own food? Because unless you do, we have nothing to talk about.

I would also suggest you don't twist my words. You are the one here throwing accusations around. One usually has some proof to back their words and as of yet, you have provided none.

Personal responsibility doesn't mean we can't do things for each other. Like chores. If that's the best argument you have, you have no argument at all. What IS abdication is allowing someone else to take all responsibility for us and our situation. Which is precisely what was said, in so many words.

So will you claim I'm lying, or proclaim that such an insistence is perfectly all right? The former seems most popular, but I'm not officially counting.

Well, you did just claim that allowing others to take care of you is wrong. So I fail to see where is the line that you're trying to draw. So is it or is it not wrong for people to do things for each other? It is a simple question.

What I cannot see is what made you come to the conclusion that everyone is ceding their, as you said it, personal responsibility. Can you expand on that thought? Because right now all I hear is you repeating the same words and that's not making your case any clearer.

I claim none of what you are trying to pin on me. All I am asking is for some evidence to support your cause. If I were to call you anything then I think deluded would be the closest word to what I would use.

If you're incapable of understanding the difference between mutual cooperation and abdication of personal responsibility... that actually explains so much about your arguments! But since you need it spelled out, specifically speaking we have all been told that we have and are allowed no responsibility or duty to deal with this situation and get us all off of this train.

It is less me being incapable of understanding and more you being incapable of getting your point across.

Then you haven't talked to Tony Stark, who has explicitly said that all responsibility for our situation is on him, not on us. Of course, certainly we may offer our suggestions, but doing anything about them is another matter entirely. Since we have no responsibility, and as such must cede such things to our better who does.

Since I was not present at the conversation, I cannot be a judge of what he exactly meant. If it were indeed presented as you say I would not have agreed with him either. But I wasn't there so I cannot say anything with any degree of certainty.

[It's true that Fëanor likes Tony Stark and generally agrees with him more often than not. It doesn't mean he doesn't want to hit him with a stick sometimes. It is also true that words are tricky things; easy to interpret as one sees fit. To have a sentence interpreted in a positive or negative light is often a matter of perspective.]

Naturally, as soon as I provide some evidence you fall back on "I wasn't there, I don't know", when before you couldn't race to scourge me fast enough despite that still not being true. [Edge is mad, and as such, not prepared to acknowledge even a slight possible backtrack.]
