Domino 18 [Video]
Before I came here, the residents of the train chose a Council.
They chose unwisely.
You ask me to bend my knee to an unworthy leader, one who you have chosen for me. I will not. If my refusal to swear allegiance to one not of my land, not of my clan, and not of my choice is objectionable to you, then now is the time to bring your complaints to me. I await them.
[There is hot anger, and there is cold anger. This is cold anger. It brings out the formality in Edge as few things can.]
Let's see how this train is truly run.

[She isn't entirely sure what's going on because she hasn't been paying supper close attention but he seems pissed. Which is an emotion she hasn't really seen from Edge.
She's curious.]
no subject
[Because he anticipates the possibility of a fight.]

[Yuffie doesn't waste any time. She vanishes from the network and appears in the gym car a few minutes later. She's wearing a pair of shorts and a tank top. It's nothing fancy yet. She's still waiting for Spider to finish her ridiculous clothing order.]
Edge? You here?
[She runs her fingers though her short hair as she takes a closer look at the gym car. She hasn't really spent a lot of time in here.]
no subject
I said I was! [He's leaning against a side wall, looking all cool and dramatic. (Appearances are an important part of ninjaing, after all.)] I'm assuming you're not here to take me down and haul me to train jail!
no subject
[Yuffie closes the distance between them and lightly taps her knuckle against his forehead.]
Nah, something just seems to be up and I want to know what.
no subject
Tell me about your clan's leader.
no subject
He was once a fierce warrior. [Her voice was softer and her shoulders set with tension.] But after the war he broke. He became lazy. He gave up our home because he didn't want to fight anymore. [Her voice quickens and her words begin to run away without her.] He lead so many people to die and then gave up! So their lives meant nothing! I saved Wutai. I fought the five shrine beasts and won. I saved us from ShinRa's hold and my father didn't want to fight. He didn't want his people to be free to live their lives as they choose!
[She's breathing heavily at this moment and realizes that she might not have answered his question.]
I get keeping people safe but if it comes at the cost of who we are, we might as well be dead.
My father is now the head of a free clan but he isn't the man he used to be. He can't protect anyone anymore.
no subject
You summed it up right there. Keeping people safe isn't worth it if it comes at the cost of who were are. That's what the leadership of the train wants to do.
no subject
[Yuffie huffs and crosses her arms over her chest.]
I don't see why we have to give that up and I don't know what's so bad about making another colored team. Everyone's getting their panties in a twist over something that can help people feel more comfortable here.
Have you notice that people are afraid? I just made a stupid team! It wasn't like I was saying that they needed to dissolve anything they already had or trying to take anything over and people are freaking out.
What is with this train that makes people so scared?
no subject
The official leadership opinion, and we discussed this, is that we need to do exactly what the train says because first, why fight it, and second, it's right. Starting to see why I won't have a part of this?
no subject
[Because that's who Yuffie is and she isn't changing that about herself.]
But hey, we can't do anything if there is steam coming out of your ears. Come on. [She waves a hand towards him and jumps back onto the mats near the center of the car. The jump is far more graceful than anything she's done since her arrival.] Talking sucks anyway.
Show me what you got Edge.
no subject
[No fancy leap from him, though -- instead, he paces over to the mats, opposite her, then settles into a slight crouch. More used to fighting with daggers and swords than bare fists, he nonetheless has skill in the latter as well. Enough to not embarrass himself for sure!]
Bring it.
no subject
She feints to the left and then dashes to the side to strike her hand just beneath his ribs where the organs were exposed.]
no subject
[The feint is obvious but he can't help but react to it anyway, and so his dodge takes him wider than he likes to escape her strike. That means when he turns back to her, his palm thrust is pretty obvious -- which is why he appears to overextend, only to turn it into an elbow strike instead.]
no subject
She's good at thinking on her feet when everything goes wrong.]
no subject
no subject
That isn't any way to treat a princess.
[She lifts the right side of her hip, with her left side still pinned and tries to throw him off and straddle him in return.]
no subject
[Now in a different sort of situation, Edge wouldn't have put up more than a token resistance -- but he's still taking this mostly seriously. He brings up a leg, planting it to one side so they're locked in a new clinch -- him off of her, but arms still tangled up, and him pushing back against her efforts to push him over.]
no subject
[Yuffie grabs his arm and pulls him towards her in an attempt to throw him off balance. Their faces come within an inch of each other as her hip turns again and her heel finds leverage against the floor.
She's taking this tussle seriously and she expects Edge to as well.]
no subject
[Okay -- Edge curls up one leg, then jerks back as he tries to plant his boot in her stomach and shove her off with the strength in his leg.]
no subject
This time she strikes down at him with her palm, aiming to knock the wind out of him, arcing over in a semi flip before landing firmly on her feet. At least flipping around is something that she's really good at. Even if he manages to avoid her, she's able to stick the landing.]
no subject
[She's good! On some level, maybe because she was younger or simply not an Eblan clan ninja, he'd expected less -- but discovering he's wrong is a delight!]
no subject
There is a brief pause and then she's running towards Edge again. This time she moves faster, appearing behind him in a flash as she attempts to strike between his shoulder blades.]
no subject
[Spinning as he plants his foot to get his balance back, he makes two quick motions with one hand, then a curved-finger slash. Behind her, a dagger coalesces out of midair, plunging down towards her shadow to pin it -- and paralyze her!]
