Hey, back up. [Taking advantage of her position, Edge brings a hand up to boop her nose with a finger.] What IS Materia in the first place?

[Yuffie blinks as his finger lightly boops her on the nose.

I'm going to admit I don't know what you mean.

You don't know what magic is? Like healing someone or casting fire?

I'm familiar! White, Black, Summoning, Ninjutsu. But none of that has anything to do with a 'Materia'.

Yeah. Materia makes all of those super awesome! It's like a power up.

Huh. [Edge runs two fingers down his cheek as he considers this.] So they're extra magic power?

Yeah. They make things easier and boost you up.

[Her eyes follow his fingers as it glides down his cheek and for the third time she wonders if she should get up.

Is this normal?]

[It OUGHT to be. Beautiful women always ought to want to get close to him, right?]

Interesting. Is it safe to gather magic in one place like that?

Yeah, why not! I used to have a lot of materia I collected.

[She has a real problem. Not just the materia but that she likes being close to Edge. Maybe because he offers her attention she hasn't really gotten from anywhere else.

[Edge can't imagine a world in which a line of guys a mile long weren't falling over themselves to gain Yuffie's attention. What doesn't she have?]

Yuffie turns onto her back and stretches her arms over her head. The break has done wonders for her and she's back to her full animated self though continuing to now sprawl across Edge's lap. He's lucky that he's so comfortable.]

I realized, I never did ask how long you've been on this train? Do anything interesting? I'm always interested in a good story.

About three months! And we've had a couple of adventures, dealing with troubles that came our way. We had to evacuate people from an entire planet, if you can believe it! [He doesn't hesitate to boast, especially not to Yuffie. Check out how cool he is, girl!]

[She grins up at him, clearly impressed.]

Really? Where were these adventures? Someone mentioned going to lots of weird places. Any of them cool?

[The excitement is in the details. They can even be outlandish details.]

The exploding planet had weird animals. Not monsters, but they looked like them. We had to evacuate them too, and let me tell you, they did NOT want to go!

Wow. That's when having someone who can talk to them might have come in handy. [Not that she can, it's just a random observation.]

So did you help? Any interesting scars?

I try not to pick up scars, except for some conversational ones that impress the ladies, such as you. [He has to remind her, after all, that she is in that category!] But of course I help! It's the obligation of a ninja!

Well I might find real scars impressive. [She grins up at him, a light blush touching her cheeks as the conversation somehow turns into a compliment to her.] You're pretty amazing huh?

[Because right now she's totally better.]

Maybe I already have. Maybe you're the one who needs to step up. [Edge winks, making sure the challenge is playful instead of real.]

I think that's stepping it up.

It's a notable conquest. Do you intend to stop there? Because a powerful and beautiful conqueror might be even more than the amazing Edge can handle...

[Yuffie pushes herself up so that she's sitting a little more on her own side of the bench, her eyes focused on Edge. There was some serious thought going on behind those dark eyes and as she looks closer, he might notice that the dark brown around the outside of her eyes focused into a deep purple around her iris.]

I don't intend to stop there.

[She pauses for a moment and then presses a kiss against his cheek before pulling away with a teasing grin.] Now I've claimed your lap and your face.

[Now on the one hand, he has to wonder just what was going through her mind in that moment, all that deep thought leading to such a playful and light gesture.]
