Domino Day 18 [Video]
Good morning! As you probably already know by now, Eva Iden'no has departed from the VoidTrecker Express. She was a good team leader, a good friend, and a thoughtful train companion. I think we will all miss her. I know that I will.
But on to business matters. Tony Stark has asked me to replace her as Orange Team leader. I'd very much like to take on that responsibility, but I'd like to hear what the rest of Orange Team has to say about that. I'd be proud to be be your leader, but let me know what you think.
If by some chance Eva returns, as the departed sometimes do, I will give her back the team leader's job, if she wants it.
[ OOC: Passengers who are not on Orange Team are welcome to comment as well. ]

I admit. I am not sure what the leaders do or what the teams are for.

The train's purpose seems to be to go to the aid of groups of people who are in trouble in their worlds. We, the passengers, are the Void Warriors, the ones who do the rescuing and the fighting and give other kinds of aid. In order to do this, we are organized into four teams, Red Team, Blue Team, Purple Team, and Orange Team. When we drop out of the Void and into a world in trouble, each team has a designated task, which we learn before the drop. The train authorities decide the team assignments. The team leaders generally rally their teams before the event and get some sort of organization underway, and that sometimes means gathering supplies or deciding who does what. The leaders don't have absolute authority; they're more like facilitators and cheerleaders.
I've been on three missions, and each involved helping solve some serious problems. We don't stay long, though. We just do what we can, and by the time we leave, the people of each world are able to take over and finish the work.
If you have more questions, don't hesitate to ask.

[She still really doesn't understand but she's trying.]
Are you a good cheerleader? I don't know. I didn't go with the Orange Team on the last task. It wasn't something I thought I could help with. If teams are important then team leaders are important too. Right? [Naminé doesn't really understand government either. She gets a little uncertain when there are people telling others what to do. That has... never ended well for her.]

[ Social organization is always complicated! Even Curufin doesn't find it simple, and he's been at it two thousand years. ]
I hope I'm a good cheerleader. [ Smile. ] And even if I'm not, I'm good at other leadership tasks. I know you didn't go on the weather machine deactivation mission, or I'd have seen you in the ice labyrinth. It was good that you made your own decision about going or not going. Only you can really know what is right for you.
[ Another smile. ] I believe there's an ongoing debate in every culture I've ever been exposed to, including my own, as regards what leaders are actually for. Giving orders is the least important part, no matter what anybody says. And not all leaders actually give orders.

[She smiles.]
I think you are a good cheerleader and a good team leader and if you need help, the whole team is here to help you too. I don't know if my opinion matters. I have only been here for a little over a month but I think you'll make a great leader.

[ He smiles back. ]
Thanks for your good will. I think it's actually the other way around. . . I'm here to help the team. Or better yet, we're here to help each other. But your opinion matters to me, even if you haven't been here long. I'll do my best to live up to your opinion.

I think that too. Even if I don't understand everything, I like being able to work together with those on the train. I couldn't really help the orange team last mission but maybe this mission I can!
no subject
And yes, it's good to be working with someone who has the same view of how to work together!
no subject
I don't know.

I wonder if they'll give us a practice environment? They could thaw out the Garden carriage and let us use the pond. That might work, if they made it a little deeper and wider.
no subject
Would the pond be able to do that? I hadn't even considered that.
no subject
The pond might be able to do that. I guess we'd have to see.
no subject
Guessing doesn't do much good, does it?
But, anyway, if you need something in the future, please don't hesitate to ask. I'm happy to help in whatever way I can.
no subject
Thanks! I'm sure I'll take you up on that offer of help at some time in the future. Nobody can actually manage a team alone. It's literally a team effort.
no subject
I think that too.
And good.
[She grins.]
I should get going but please come find me if you need me.

Threadjack! Let me know if this isn't okay. |D [Video]
Wait, what? When did that question go out?
[She definitely knows how to swim, but that's not her point here.]

When I checked on the devices this morning, all I saw was the calendar date,
[Which is still weird! It doesn't map easily onto the Julian Date system at all.]
And the thought of the month.
[Which she'd answered, though not in much detail, referencing her own experiences.]
no subject
[ The train's date system is a bit odd! Curufin can't even fit it into the Elvish system, let alone Earth's Julian system. ]

[In that after enough time they're simply Gone. It's definitely not like the Networks she's used to.]
That's a pain.
no subject
[ Gone with a capital G is the right word for what happens! It's not like the networks he's used to, either. ]
Yep. It's a pain.
no subject
Still, thanks for telling me.
[Just another thing to keep track of in this crazy place... Not Nautilus' kind of crazy, but still out-there.]
Least I'm used to taking notes.
no subject
Good that you take notes! I do, too. Which reminds me, I hope the stores have more blank books. I haven't gotten around to checking to see if they do, and I know the one I received upon my arrival isn't going to last forever. I'm filling it up at a rapid rate.

[She shrugs.]
I've got my Manual, though, so I shouldn't run short of space soon either.

You wanna go for a wrap on this one, and catch up somewhere in the future?
Works for me! We do have that pre-station thread, if you want to keep that going.
