Good morning! As you probably already know by now, Eva Iden'no has departed from the VoidTrecker Express. She was a good team leader, a good friend, and a thoughtful train companion. I think we will all miss her. I know that I will.

But on to business matters. Tony Stark has asked me to replace her as Orange Team leader. I'd very much like to take on that responsibility, but I'd like to hear what the rest of Orange Team has to say about that. I'd be proud to be be your leader, but let me know what you think.

If by some chance Eva returns, as the departed sometimes do, I will give her back the team leader's job, if she wants it.

I think the colors were something of a mystery to all of us. But that's what makes sense to me.

Thanks for your good will. I think it's actually the other way around. . . I'm here to help the team. Or better yet, we're here to help each other. But your opinion matters to me, even if you haven't been here long. I'll do my best to live up to your opinion.

I think that too. Even if I don't understand everything, I like being able to work together with those on the train. I couldn't really help the orange team last mission but maybe this mission I can!

We'll see what happens on the next mission. I'm wondering what is going to happen? The train authorities asked us if we can swim, as you saw in that poll. We don't know what their purpose was. It may have had something to do with the next mission, but it may have been entirely unrelated. If it was in regards to the mission, there still could be things you might do that don't involve swimming. Or I could teach you how. It's not all that hard.

And yes, it's good to be working with someone who has the same view of how to work together!

I don't know what use the information would be to us or to the train, if it's only information. I do suspect it means we'll need the ability to swim, and probably soon.

I wonder if they'll give us a practice environment? They could thaw out the Garden carriage and let us use the pond. That might work, if they made it a little deeper and wider.

Would the pond be able to do that? I hadn't even considered that.

Right. Guessing doesn't cut it, really. We're just stuck with it until reality reveals to us what we want to know. Namely, what's the train really planning to do? Why does it want to know if we can swim?

The question appeared on our ICP screens not long ago. If you want to weigh in, you slip your ticket into the nearest ICP device and it will allow you to post a reply. But you probably already know how to do that?

When I checked on the devices this morning, all I saw was the calendar date,

[Which is still weird! It doesn't map easily onto the Julian Date system at all.]

And the thought of the month.

[Which she'd answered, though not in much detail, referencing her own experiences.]

I haven't looked at the survey since the day I answered it. The train erases some of its messages after a while, so maybe it's not there anymore.

[ The train's date system is a bit odd! Curufin can't even fit it into the Elvish system, let alone Earth's Julian system. ]

Yes, I think so. What we say in these conversations isn't archived, which is too bad. [ Small chuckle. ] We'll have to rely on our memories. And our notes, if we take any.

Yes, it's easy to miss a train communication, since they don't remain on the ICP screens for long.

Good that you take notes! I do, too. Which reminds me, I hope the stores have more blank books. I haven't gotten around to checking to see if they do, and I know the one I received upon my arrival isn't going to last forever. I'm filling it up at a rapid rate.

I'd order them preemptively, but I don't have nearly enough points for that yet.

I have a lot of points. I haven't used any of them. I guess I should check the stores. I could order a bunch of blank books if they are available, and give some to whoever needs them. No sense in hoarding points!

Not sure I could do anything with just my three, is all; haven't been feeling like a snack.

I've paid so little attention to how much things cost on this train that I don't know what three points could buy. But I suppose, a snack. Though I can understand if you don't feel like snacking on whatever the train provides as a snack from the store.

I kind of enjoy cooking, and I think what we can produce in the kitchen is probably better.

Definitely good so far! I think it was a good idea to have the passengers cook instead of the train providing all the food.
