Yeah, hello and greetings to all of us on the Voidtrecker Express. My name's Lan Jingyi for those who don't know me, and I'm still Lan Jingyi even if you know me.

( he did cup his fist to bow to the camera, but now he's waving a hand in front of himself, as if dismissing the . )

Do any of you know practical forms of practising this CPR stuff? I get the idea, and since technically we aren't supposed to go around using our energies on each other without being careful I get why it's important, but how do you practise any of this practically?

( someone fully reviewed the First Aid course after pulling together in the wake of the most recent one day exhaustion of mission assistance. only the CPR stuff is just taunting him when there's enough people mortal here he doesn't want to actively injure them worse if it ever comes up, thanks. )

Second, if anyone is................................................ of a spiritual persuasion, and is up for working with me on something involving truth telling, let me know.

( he reaches to turn off the ICP from live recording, then pauses, and pulls his hand back to point at the screen. he doesn't really think any of this is an issue, and mostly he's handling the 'don't yell at me randomly' part, but: )

Right! Third thing, I'm going flying in the garden carriage 'tonight', which means if you run through and use weather you get to deal with dripping dragon, that's not on me. Also no peeping, or shouting, both are annoying, thank you, goodbye.

[No doubt this isn't why Jingyi did this video, but Idia needs to talk to him. Idia's been attempting to hide in his room since yesterday's station stop but realized he's going to need to do some quick damage control considering everything that's just happened.

That may explain the frantic Idia that pops up on the video to Jingyi, which Idia would normally take the time to switch to audio, but there's no time for that now!] Jingyi! I need to talk to you! In person! [Wait, where... hmmm, oh!] The quiet cars! Now!

[Xie'er was slowly getting used to the tech on the train and feeling brave enough to comment and reach out to the people on the device. He wasn't familiar with the term CPR and didn't understand the necessaity for it and why it was important to the other.]

What is this CPR going to allow you to do if you are able practice?

( oh, look! idia! doing something he wouldn't usually, which jingyi notes enough to start narrowing his eyes, and forgive him, but there's been calls to action like this before that lead to a very dubious: )

You're not going to confess, are you?

( he's had enough of the quiet cars and confessions thank you there's only so much one person can take. it seems highly unlikely given their conversation prior to idia's leaving (that failed, as all... leavings did at that time), but far be it from him to guess the twists and turns of another's mind, let alone heart. or forgettability indexes. )

( he nods to the ICP, which isn't helpful, but it's where he'd been watching the First Aid course, so logical to him. )

From what the thing here said, it keeps the blood circulating through its system.

Like qi through meridians. Anyway, keep the blood flowing until someone's able to do something more, it's a first response, like stopping blood flowing from a wound.

[What?!] No! Of course not! [You're far too 3D for his tastes, Jingyi.

Wait... this was being broadcasted to the train, right? And everyone just heard that, right?

The video instant cuts and changes to audio instead, Idia's voice now wavering with panic.] J-j-just meet me there! [He's going to need a few moments to calm down and hide in his hoodie before he can face Jingyi after that.]

Oh thank the Heavens, I wasn't in the mood for that.

( yes, well, now he's relieved, and so he waves a hand at the screen since he knows he's visible, even if idia imploded into the darkness of audio only connections. he, who is at this point used to broadcasting exactly this and still being taken for who knows what, clicks his tongue and eventually concedes: )

Fine, fine, as long as it's not anything romantic, I'll be right over.

( they just helped evacuate an entire universe. it's the exact thing he'd been warning the ministry about, so he's... actually happy the ministry was as proactive as it was. not remotely happy about what happened, but happy it wasn't ignored. still, less drama is nice, and for whatever idia's clearly got eating him up, by jingyi's not entirely logical estimate, at least it doesn't have to do with jingyi in any personal sense.

... unless idia's looking at like, sizhui.

... naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

he turns off the ICP, heading toward the quiet carriage via the pathways of least resistance, or more at the full length of traversing the train, jogging as he goes for the sheer shake of exercise. heck, he waves to people inevitably encountered in every carriage! what can you do, they live on a string! but he does get there, just slower than he could have, granting idia time for whatever collecting he may need to do. a deliberate choice, but also... jingyi enjoyed the jogging. everyone wins. )

Fiinneee. [Idia's response is barely heard over the ICP feed, his tone clearly soft and one of a person in suffering, said in a way that was spoken through gritted teeth. Damnit Jingyi...

Idia is more delayed than he planned, mostly for that needed time to recover the best he could from this, maybe including muffled screaming coming from his cabin, before he forces himself to go and meet Jingyi. This is far bigger than him having to suffer through the embarrassment of people thinking he may be interested in someone. He has to get this sorted. Even if it means he has to force himself to trot through the carriages to meet in that Quiet Carriage.

And Idia is doing this best to hide within his hood, tugging each side with his hands as if it would make it deeper so he could just vanish within it completely. What a horrible start to this all.]

Jingyi... [He gets out, voice even softer than normal thanks to what just happened.]

...

( he barely, barely manages to bite down on asking, why are you hiding in your hood, because no, he does know, or is at least aware of, idia being shy in a way he hasn't seen much of since sizhui was young, they both were small, and jingyi was the one leaping around to loudly tell everyone about his new best friend, and how to treat him.

scuffles were involved. ah, the beauty of being punished for youthful indiscretions, at the tender age of what... four? five? anyway. he catches himself into a redirect toward the point that probably will increase idia's volume... even if he needn't really speak much louder. this is like taiki when taiki's feeling shy. )

Yeah, I am he. What's bothering you? ( a pause. there might be multiple things by now. bothersome... ) Or what was bothering you when you first showed up on screen?

[... yes. Yes! Focus! He needs to get this sorted, Idia making himself drop his hand from the hood, though one automatically moves to pull on the edge of his sleeve instead.]

I, ah... um, [Ok, lets do this right, Idia opening one of the soundproof booth doors.] I-if you don't mind... [He had asked here for a reason, he doesn't want anyone overhearing what was going to go on. Well, doesn't want two specific people to overhear what he has to say.

Assuming Jingyi is going to agree to this, after all, why would he come otherwise, Idia shuffles himself in first despite having opened the door for them, folding himself up onto one of the booth seats so to hug at his legs as they would speak.] I-I-, [No, come on, do this right, a breath in, then out.] I need to talk to you about what I had said before I attempted to leave the train that time.

( for his part, he follows along inside the booth easily enough, taking the seat on the opposite bench and letting his tail fall out sideways from the whole affair. the tip twitches, metronomic like a cat's rather than the wag of a dog's, and he blinks, listening to the ball of a person curled around himself on the other side.

one guess: it relates now to someone who doesn't know being on board, who could find it knowledge to react to. in other words, someone idia knows from his world, only not from his world, since none of them share worlds. still, realities can be consistent enough... even he is the largest outlier in all those he's met who he recognises. which is weird. really weird. really beyond his control, too. )

What, about being part of a secret organisation, its destined heir, set on cleaning up magical messes and energies and whatever monsters it creates and erasing yourselves and those incidents from memory? Or was it about the other things.

( ... it could be, what's he to say, maybe it's about the being forever alone and forever forgotten.

but also, who is to say he recalled correctly, he was all sad then he was angry for weeks because he was shunted off train and forced to go through all that shit without ever having a choice. again. fate is one thing: fickle technology is just messed up. )

[Well... that certainly sums it up neatly, doesn't it? Idia letting out a huff of a sigh, but seeming to relax a bit with how straightforward Jingyi just laid it out; letting one of his legs drop to the floor as he continued to lean on the other, shifting a hand up to shove his hood backwards off his head and run his palm over his face.] Yeeahhh, that. [This is all such a mess...]

Two people from, well... alternatives of my world, [Since that has now been confirmed for Idia with Ruggie and Sebek showing up. They weren't missing or in a coma in Idia's timeline, showing they were from slightly different variations of their world. Idia's not sure if that's a good or bad thing. It's bad as that means there is less chance to be saved from his world without his family having others to study, but its good in some ways that... well... 'he' was still with his 'brother' in these other worlds. At least they weren't separated there.] Showed up on this station. I doubt they would get anything even if was mentioned... [STYX was secret for a reason after all, few knew about it, but Idia can't take the risk.] But I'd still rather they didn't hear anything that I told you.

( his eyebrows are back to slowly creeping upward, though he gives himself credit, and a half smug little smile: he was right, someone from not-quite-home arrived. )

Thought so.

( he leans back, his tail sliding around so that the tip can thump companionably against idia's calf, or shin, or whatever it ends up patting against under the table, now that his one leg's come down off the seat. )

I don't blurt out everything about anyone I know offhand. Is there any reason they'd ask about any of this stuff?

( a small pause, then a more solemn, serious expression, versus the earlier partial smirk or the usual frown that seems to haunt him when he's not particularly trying. )

It's against Lan precepts to lie. You're not going to demand some kind of blood sealed oath, are you?

[Idia slumped down more at the annoyance of this all, but instantly straightened back up with an 'eeeh!' as Jingyi's tail came in contact with his leg, it shooting back up onto the seat in shock at the sudden contact. It's nothing personal Jingyi, it's just... well firstly physical contact, but mostly that Idia hadn't been expecting it at all.

Needing a moment to get his heart rate back down, Idia just let that leg flop down to the seat instead, tucking his foot under the other leg. Ok, that leaves plenty of room for Jingyi and him.] They're aware of overblot, so that may be mentioned. [Idia's jaw jutting out to the side in thought.] There's been an unprecedented rise in the occurrences of it at the school which doesn't make sense at all... I've been meaning to look into it... [Then a sneer and a slow shake of his head.] Not that it matters now, even if it makes no sense. Too many problematic children... [It all just made Idia's life harder. He hated it so...

Then again, not his issue anymore, not while on the train.

Idia falls silent as Jingyi got his words together, before it being his turned to look surprised, his brows going up as Jingyi continued.] ...I was actually expecting you to require me to pay you to keep quiet.

( some kinder, gentler, not-him version of himself might have not looked a little amused at the response to a friendly tail bop, but this is jingyi: he was amused. )

I don't bite, ( he says, like that has anything to do with anything, but he curves his tail around so its fluffy tip ends up thudding periodically against his own knee. tick... tick... tick... ) And I won't brush up against you if it bothers you.

( just putting it out there. it's not his first thought, when maybe it could be, but he's been here for months, he craves easy friendly physical interaction he mostly gets out of a handful of people instead of anyone in his entire generation, and everyone's boundaries on what's too much (or too little) are vastly different here. but he does try to remember.

even if he doesn't comment on the rambling idia wanders through, only blinking at the end and looking like he's torn between being amused, and being offended. )

Do you seriously try to bribe all your friends with payments? ... With what here, anyway?

I thought we already established I don't have friends. [Idia replies dryly, ignoring that comment about the tail, or the physical contact. Idia tries to avoid the overly touchy people around the train, he can't always, but he does his best to stay away from making contact with others.] It's just how things work in my world, nothing is free. [And given the chance anything and everything will be used against you for someone else to get ahead.]

If you're not going to complain about it, then I won't either. Don't say I didn't offer you the chance. [He won't be pleased if this comes back to bite him... but wouldn't be surprised either. It also doesn't help he has no clue what Jingyi would be interested in as payment.

Oh!] Oh, I guess, um, well, since with what happened and being stuck here... [Thanks for that brief moment of hope only for it to be crushed, train.] We could look into what we had briefly spoke about, using qi in a technological sense. I do always need more projects. [Idia does have one started in the works right now, as well as some few fun ones just for the sake of it, but this qi could be far more interesting in a long reaching manner.]

[He gave a nod in understanding, as he understood about qi and the meridians. That was how they were able to use their martial arts and the ability to glide too.]

Oh. Where are you finding this information? [He hates being such a novice at things. He prefers trying to find the information himself before having to ask if he still wans't sure.]

( is the blithe reply, largely because he's not seen anyone, even terrible people, have zero friendly relationships with at least another passenger. then again, that's more social coping than Intended Bonding, but it's still a factor, and they still work like a group.

so not bosom buddies, but friends nonetheless.

idly running his fingers through his tail tuft fur, he lifts his shoulders, offering a half assed smile. )

If you want to for fun, sure, I'm for it. Reminds me I was going to see if we could make qi infused candies... for the energy boost.

( yeah. just, yeah. here he is looking speculating over the idea of energy candy. )

It's a recording on the thing we're talking over, like... a scroll made of images that move and make sounds, as if you were watching people do these things right here, only none of them are because it's from some other time and place.

( have the scroll mention, really, because he's not sure how to explain Video any better than he's internalised it to be. )

Yes, I just arrived. All of this is way more advanced then I'm used to. Scrolls I'm familiar with.

( he blinks back like he thinks this is fairly apparent, not at all suspecting the concern over hidden euphemisms. after all, he didn't mention springtime or wet sleeves or anything dual cultivating, right?

Mm, sending our energy directly into each other can cause damage. You're supposed to go slow, test it out, make sure your partner can handle it. Talking it through or whatever.

( he says this so seriously, then rubs at his temple, his hand running over his horn after. )

Oh hey, I can answer this one!

[ Jake knowing something for once. Shock. ]

CPR classes usually have a training dummy. The instructor gives you a mouth guard to practice rescue breathing, and the dummy has a softer chest part so you can practice your compressions without breaking a real person's ribs.

The train really should've provided the equipment to go with the class, but once I save up enough I can order it.

( he sighs, but his tail tip pops up on screen, because Jake's given him excellent news: there really is a training method that's not blind guesswork! )

I wish we could give each other points, there's just votes... we could see how many first aid training kit would take?

Yeah! I'll ask around. Maybe there's somebody with more points who's also from a world that has them.

I'm pretty sure the course covered this, but just double-checking: you usually have to break ribs when doing actual CPR. It's a last ditch attempt to get a heart going. But we don't have to make more work for the healers just practicing.
