Yeah, hello and greetings to all of us on the Voidtrecker Express. My name's Lan Jingyi for those who don't know me, and I'm still Lan Jingyi even if you know me.
( he did cup his fist to bow to the camera, but now he's waving a hand in front of himself, as if dismissing the . )
Do any of you know practical forms of practising this CPR stuff? I get the idea, and since technically we aren't supposed to go around using our energies on each other without being careful I get why it's important, but how do you practise any of this practically?
( someone fully reviewed the First Aid course after pulling together in the wake of the most recent one day exhaustion of mission assistance. only the CPR stuff is just taunting him when there's enough people mortal here he doesn't want to actively injure them worse if it ever comes up, thanks. )
Second, if anyone is................................................ of a spiritual persuasion, and is up for working with me on something involving truth telling, let me know.
( he reaches to turn off the ICP from live recording, then pauses, and pulls his hand back to point at the screen. he doesn't really think any of this is an issue, and mostly he's handling the 'don't yell at me randomly' part, but: )
Right! Third thing, I'm going flying in the garden carriage 'tonight', which means if you run through and use weather you get to deal with dripping dragon, that's not on me. Also no peeping, or shouting, both are annoying, thank you, goodbye.

I'm pretty sure the course covered this, but just double-checking: you usually have to break ribs when doing actual CPR. It's a last ditch attempt to get a heart going. But we don't have to make more work for the healers just practicing.
no subject
Yeah, but like you say, we don't need injured people from practicing, though... that's fine, if it's needed, we can use me. I'm more worried about not knowing the right amount of strength to do just that, and not accidentally crush or crack the breast bone or whatever it's called.
no subject
If the shop considers it a regular-sized item, I can order one from my world, I've got enough points for that.
no subject
( he's not volunteering cooking, because he's not inspired or inspirational there. except maybe for chicken. does dev want excellent chicken.
either way, his tailtip's lashing around behind him in the sort of agitated but anticipatory way that means his interest and his questions are both being met with answers. which he appreciates, very much so. )
Sensors like that are perfect, figuring out how much strength is too much and how it needs to be restrained, or training for when not having access to our abilities at all... those are two things I need to learn, I'd guess a number of others would want to learn too. Is this training dummy something that can be fixed if it gets broken on accident, or do we need to think about parts for that, too?
no subject
[He probably wouldn't turn down excellent chicken, though.]
Exactly. Normal folks like me, we have to make sure we're pushing hard enough, but there are a lot more people like you than me on this train.
[He considers the question of fixability for a moment, looking thoughtful.] The ones I trained on were pretty durable, but there are definitely components that take a beating that will probably need replacing. We might be able to generate some of them using Yondu's printer in standard, though.
no subject
( ah! wait! printing! he perks up, then looks... confused. )
We can print paper replacements?
( someone has not been introduced directly to the 3D printer, and just thinks of it as that odd looking large boxy thing in standard carriage. he does, however, know about the paper printer. )
no subject
I could probably help instruct. I let my certs lapse, but it wasn't that long ago; I still remember how to perform it.
[It actually takes him a second to realize what paper has to do with anything, since he bothers with it so rarely himself.] ...Oh! No, I mean using the other printer. The 3D one?
no subject
I have no idea what certs are, but that doesn't sound horrible, so it also sounds good to me.
( a longer pause. )
... What does that mean.
( what do three dee's have to do with it. )
no subject
[He considers trying to explain for a moment, then just says:] Do you want me to show you?
no subject
Got it, so it's something that says you've been trained in such and such a style. Is it similar to things like licenses?
( and then: )
Yes, please show me. Explaining probably would only make a little sense.
( he does perk up then, considering he'd rather know what in the heavens it is, and a general explanation won't be enough. )
Standard carriage?
no subject
Standard carriage. I'll meet you there.
[And he makes his way there immediately, taking advantage of the transgates to keep the trip short even though he detours through the lab car quickly. He rolls up in Standard in loose pants and a tank top, a box clamped under one big, tattooed arm, and heads right for the Kree printer to boot it up.]
no subject
He lifts his hands to touch fingers to fingers and nod a quick bow, though he's looking at both whatever machine is making noises getting ready and the box that Devero carried in as well. )
That whole thing is a printer? Huh.
( He peers at it, trying to make it make sense of what manner of printing this whole thing does, compared to the much smaller one that makes paper off an ereader. )
So the stuff it makes isn't made out of paper. What is it made out of?
no subject
Whole thing, yup. [He paps the top of the printer, which makes the box, set on top, rattle.
The printer itself is, of course, much higher tech than its simpler paper counterpart. There's a big, glowing screen on one end, and a big open compartment that's ccurrently empty, and enclosed with clear glass (or, more probably, some durable alien analogue).
Dev touches the bottom edge of the screen with his fingertips, angling it up and out from the main body of the machine.] It's made out of whatever you feed into it for raw materials. Anything like glass, metal, plastic-- oh! It does have to be inorganic stuff. You can't fill the bin with, like, leaves or anything like that.
no subject
( he's plainly confused, and this more likely a translation issue; he simply doesn't understand what divide is being made. )
no subject
Organic is more like... a direct product of a living thing. Like, wool is an organic product because you can pretty much use it the way it is when it comes off the sheep. But metal, even if it's found in nature, has to go through a lot of processing before it's in a form that can even be used to make things.
Glass too-- yeah, a lucky lightning strike on a beach can make glass, but you sure can't use that glass as the window in your bedroom. You see?
no subject
( he thinks to some degree there are differences in translation and culture and truths of world to world, but he'll agree that Devero must have the logic for this machine, its rules and definitions. thus he understands enough to not be shoving in leaves, or bread, though bread is by that definition still, well, processed? lots goes into making bread!
but it isn't the point, and that he knows. )
Now's probably a good time to mention no one has glass windows where I'm from, huh?
( he grins, looking amused. one more song that sings different between him and another on the voidtrain. not the first, not the last, but this one is nice: this one doesn't sting. it has no teeth, only wings, brushing gently past flesh. )
Then rock, just rock, that wouldn't work either, would it?
no subject
...You know, I don't actually know. That's a good question. My knee-jerk reaction is that it wouldn't, but it probably depends on the exact mechanics of how this thing works.
[Which he definitely does not understand. He turns a speculative look on the printer, and may or may not be wondering how likely it is to malfunction if they fill the hopper with stones before trying to print something.]
no subject
( his tail is curling into a curious sort of shape, much like a cats, while regarding the printer. his finger curls to rest against his chin. it won't break that easily, right? )
no subject
[ Not his department. But worth asking. ]
Don't worry too much. Cracked ribs can be fixed. Easier than death. I mean...well, we kinda revive here, but I don't think people want to die too much and test the tether.
no subject
( because on his world, no matter how different people are, most still have organs in a human configuration in human form. in their other forms, it can be much more different. )
Ugh, no, we're not encouraging people to test the void tethers. There's nothing that says that doesn't mess with your body, if you still have one, wherever it is!
( he waves a hand, perking up a moment after. )
Devero's also saying he can help get one of these dummies, would you be willing to teach people using whatever it is from his world?
no subject
And hopefully no one dies.
