Video / Action - Open
Video
[The video opens with very excited Quatre, quite clearly trying to keep from bouncing excitedly]
Fellow passengers of the train, good morning! I made a request for an item and I wasn't actually sure if I'd get it or what it would be if I did, but...
[And he shows off what arrived for him... which just basically looks like a large box]
It is mobile suit cockpit simulator! So it's like piloting a mobile suit without actually piloting one!
[He very briefly showed off the inside of it, which looked like a cockpit]
Once I get it to the games carriage, I'm going to take a look at the options already programmed and add as many as I remember. It'll be available for anyone to try out. Also if you have one that would be piloted like that, I can try to add yours.
Action
Quatre can either be found in the luggage carriage, trying to figure out to move this very large object... or he can be found in the games carriage once it has been moved, checking what has already been programmed into the system.

[Since she had offered to get him something to drink, he would accept her kindness and take it. He didn't want to be rude and push her kindness too far]
I'll be in the Games Carriage. I'll see you shortly.

[With that she allowed him to get back to his work, while she made her way to the kitchen to prepare the tea.
It only took a little while for the tea to warm, then she decided to bring a few shortbread cookies with it as well. Placing both the teapot with two cups and the treats on a tray she made her way to the gaming car.
After she let herself in, she found some empty table space to place the tray.]
Hey, it's just me. I hope I didn't keep you waiting too long.
no subject
Not at all. I just got it done so I hope it works. Thank you for bring that. It's very kind of you.
I'm Quatre.

That was pretty fast, you must be a whiz with electonics.
[Or maybe the simulator didn't have that many connections to make. Either way]
It's nothing, don't worry about it. Please help yourself. I'm Sylvia, nice to meet you.

It's nice to meet you.
[He picked up the tea first before continuing]
This is actually one of the simulators used back home. It was used by the Federation to train their pilots so it only has their mobile suits at the moment, but I plan to add the Gundams in there. It will just take more time since I have to do that manually. It is functionally though with the provided suits.

[Not that she knew for sure, but all those moving parts on a mech offered more points that could fail or need maintenance]
The Federation. [Sylvia repeated thoughtfully.] Wow, I'm sorry. I'm still kind of stunned that any society would really need such high industrial fire power as these things. [There's probably a whole sad backstory to it, and she's not sure how much she should question Quatre about it] Were you from a time of peace, or was there some kind of ongoing conflict?
no subject
[Definitely needed a lot of maintenance. He had a whole army who helped with his. Duo had Howard]
I think they started out as maintenance and basic security mobile suits, like Cancer and Pisces are clearly meant for underwater work, but along the way they were armed... even more than before. It was rather complicated, but essentially it started when the Earth wanted to take over the space colonies. The colonies wanted to fight back so they sent us with our Gundams. The colonies supposedly came to peace... but didn't and eventually a group wanted to attack the Earth in return.
It was peaceful now in my world when I left.

Sandrock? Is that like the name you gave it or it a production name like a car?
[Genuinely curious since she wasn't sure how popular mechs became in his timeline]
That would make sense. The technology existed before but then it was adapted for combat. [It's kind of amusing that some of these units were named after popular constellations ie. astrological signs. The rest was just disheartening to think about. War always came at a high cost even if their were times when it was the only way.] So there are actually colonies in space there too. That's incredible. [Trying to remain upbeat]
So you actually experienced combat and everything.. [.. and he looked so young. That meant things were so dire in the colonies that they sent out at least one kid to the frontlines.] I'm glad you got to see some semblance of peace before you got here.

That’s the name the scientist who designed it gave it. The Gundams were more one of a kind and not mass produced. So Sandrock was only mine.
[He was rather proud of that]
Yeah, they’ve been in space for close to 200 years now. They are located at the Earth’s Lagrange points, which are locations where something can orbit the Earth and not be pulled into the Earth’s gravitational pull.
[He nodded]
A bit. I got pulled into it of my own accord, but it was not something I knew before piloting so my teammates were... more experienced with it.

Than no one else would have known quite how it operated. There's an advantage to that.
[Not that mecha control necessarily deviated all that much. In truth, she had no way of knowing, but even ordinary electronics had their own nuances from system to system.]
In my time, we aren't quite that advanced. There has been some space exploration, and I am from an Earth but no one lives in space exclusively.
You survived, so.. you must have picked up enough during.. everything.
no subject
You might get there eventually hard to say. I will say though, when you live in space... you really miss what is on the Earth.
I did. I feel like I am better at it that I was.
no subject
Maybe. Not sure if it'll be in my life time.. but they do have that one space station, so it's kind of heading in that direction. It's just people can only stay up there a few months because of the differential gravity and the effect on the body.
So you've lived in both places? I guess that would be hard. [I mean, she experienced homesickness enough traveling on the train]
[When the conversation felt like it hit a natural lull she looked towards what must be the simulator]
So, how does this thing work?
no subject
I grew up on the colonies in space. I always wanted to visit Earth because there is so much there I never could have seen in space. Now, I have spent some time on Earth and I miss it when I have to go back to space.
[But now back to the simulator]
So there are multiple options for suits to try and pilot. They range from basic land mobile suits to ones used in air or water to the most advanced which is used in space. Once you select a suit, it gives you location to practice using it.
