See Amar here? Amar gets sheared a bunch after a mission. Like, a whole bunch. Gotta get rid'f all tha' wool from usin' cotton guard like a big bowlin' ball shield. Anyone ever see when half th' kitchen sinks were full 'f wool? Tha's why. They get big an' round an' stop fittin' through th' doors.

An' I gotta soak it after trimmin' it off, b'fore it can be used f'r anythin'. Like yarn an' such.

But ehhh... [He grimaces, and shrugs.] ....Bein' real, ev'n if all of us voted, no way we'd get th' pet care carriage tha' fast, so here's a better idea. Vote f'r yer small stuff, sure- but eh...try puttin' one 'r two toward a spot where we can keep all th' animal hair, capisce? It'll mean less for whoever's cleaaaaaaninnnnn..~

Yeah!! Exactly! An' hell, prob'bly more comfortable for them t' sleep there for most too...

True. It probably is more comfortable for them to sleep. It is a lot of points that you need, but I'll definitely work on helping with the goal.

[And he sure enough will! His drop spindle...really is kind of like swinging a yoyo around, actually. He's got the wool dangling and twisting tightly into string all the way down to the thing, where yarn gradually gathers.]

[Case in point, the drop spindle is actually still a big thing! Everyone loves a good handy hand craft.]

Been gatherin' a stock 'f yarn from it, an' lettin' folks knit. It's pretty great!

Yeah, definitely looks pretty simple. [He crouched to look at it a bit better] But I agree, if it is working down try to do improve on it.

That's nice. Will be very useful. I'm no good at knitting I'm afraid, but I'd be willing to give spinning a try.

Nyhhh, same, can't get anythin' right with those needles...decent enough w'th makin pompoms an' stuff though. 'S pretty easy, 's long as y' have scissors and cardboard.

I think one of my sisters tried when I was younger. I don't remember what became of it. But I never tried myself. Pompoms? How do you do that?

[Habits not yet blasted out of him by his friends and family- that, apparently.] Oh! It's pretty easy- y' just wrap th' yarn around some cardboard, then tie it up at th' middle- an' from there cut th' yarn up so it all fluffs up from where y' tied it!

Could do it with a fork too, thinkin' abou' it...

I guess so. Of course, I was only boy so I have nothing else to go on than that. A lot of things would be girl things if I did.

My family has money. We are one of the richest families on either the colonies or Earth. It's not an issue to take care of many children.

Yeah, all of them are older than me. Most by enough years that they were the ones who helped to look after me.

A son? I'm the youngest and I'm the only boy. Our family is still... well, we follow the old ways of inheritance so I am the one in charge of our family's business. My sisters have helped with it, but they weren't the ones given the business and even my eldest sister was never expecting it.

It might be different for others, but we are an old family. It's just the way things are for us.
