Alrigh', there's lots 'f bribes goin' around, which 's great....f'r good stuff mostly, since Romeo's pretty great too...but I ain't got a bribe, I got a threat!

[One can practically see the steam of determination blast through his nostrils as he exhales there. Or wait maybe that was smoke??

See Amar here? Amar gets sheared a bunch after a mission. Like, a whole bunch. Gotta get rid'f all tha' wool from usin' cotton guard like a big bowlin' ball shield. Anyone ever see when half th' kitchen sinks were full 'f wool? Tha's why. They get big an' round an' stop fittin' through th' doors.

An' I gotta soak it after trimmin' it off, b'fore it can be used f'r anythin'. Like yarn an' such.

But ehhh... [He grimaces, and shrugs.] ....Bein' real, ev'n if all of us voted, no way we'd get th' pet care carriage tha' fast, so here's a better idea. Vote f'r yer small stuff, sure- but eh...try puttin' one 'r two toward a spot where we can keep all th' animal hair, capisce? It'll mean less for whoever's cleaaaaaaninnnnn..~

Oh an' uh...I mean I ain't one t' gripe abou' sharin' cots with animals 'r anythin', but th' title is 'Groom an' KENNELS' an' all, which 's pro'bly better than lettin' these guys run all over the train whenever righ'? [And he sure enough will! His drop spindle...really is kind of like swinging a yoyo around, actually. He's got the wool dangling and twisting tightly into string all the way down to the thing, where yarn gradually gathers.]

[Indeed, as promised, Quatre was waiting around outside the library after they spoke. He looked up hearing the door open and hearing him call out to him]

[He couldn't help but watch the drop spindle spinning as he walked over]

[Case in point, the drop spindle is actually still a big thing! Everyone loves a good handy hand craft.]

Been gatherin' a stock 'f yarn from it, an' lettin' folks knit. It's pretty great!

Yeah, definitely looks pretty simple. [He crouched to look at it a bit better] But I agree, if it is working down try to do improve on it.

That's nice. Will be very useful. I'm no good at knitting I'm afraid, but I'd be willing to give spinning a try.

Nyhhh, same, can't get anythin' right with those needles...decent enough w'th makin pompoms an' stuff though. 'S pretty easy, 's long as y' have scissors and cardboard.

I think one of my sisters tried when I was younger. I don't remember what became of it. But I never tried myself. Pompoms? How do you do that?

[Habits not yet blasted out of him by his friends and family- that, apparently.] Oh! It's pretty easy- y' just wrap th' yarn around some cardboard, then tie it up at th' middle- an' from there cut th' yarn up so it all fluffs up from where y' tied it!

I guess so. Of course, I was only boy so I have nothing else to go on than that. A lot of things would be girl things if I did.

[His sisters ran the gambit from being politicians, to doctors, to being housewives. Most of them were at least business savvy enough to cover for him when he hadn't been able to manage the family's business holdings]

Really? That does sound easy. I guess it is one of those things that you don't really think about.

Heh! Yep! Like I said, tricky thing is stuff like knittin', so on. I don't even know how they manage those christmas sweaters...

I don't either. I think the most my sister did was scarves which basically looked like bunch of straight lines.

Yes, twenty-nine. Families that have been in space for a while have to have children with test tubes so we are all test tube babies.

Nyhhh, test tubes or no didn't yer parents still have t' raise that many though!?

My family has money. We are one of the richest families on either the colonies or Earth. It's not an issue to take care of many children.

So y' got a bunch 'v babysitters f'r most 'f th' time is what yer sayin' huh...mannnn...

[He is presumably still stuck on the whole twenty seven sisters deal.]

What made 'm want so many kids in th' first place?

Yeah, all of them are older than me. Most by enough years that they were the ones who helped to look after me.

[Yeah, he understands. A lot of people get stuck on that part]

A son? I'm the youngest and I'm the only boy. Our family is still... well, we follow the old ways of inheritance so I am the one in charge of our family's business. My sisters have helped with it, but they weren't the ones given the business and even my eldest sister was never expecting it.

Ooooohhhhhh... [That makes. An unfortunate amount of sense, indicated by the grimace.] Yeeeeesh, not ev'n clearin' space can get rid of it huh...

...Talk abou' lottery odds there though, y'd think it wouldn't take 27 t' get there...least y' had a big family I guess? Jeeze, talk about a lot on yer shoulders too...

It might be different for others, but we are an old family. It's just the way things are for us.

[Not that he hadn't considered a few times trying to hand over the business to his sisters, but in the end, it was too ingrained in him than to actually try that. Not the lease because his sisters would protest and question why he wanted to do that.

He nodded] I guess I always have. There was never an option to not take one a lot.

We are from the time before the colonies. My family helped to build and provide financing. We have always been one of the wealthiest families in space.

I would think that they would be. If I wasn't there, my sisters would hold down the family business. They have done it before. My friends should be fine. I did try to send them a message, but who knows if they got it.

...Bein' from a time that doesn' have colonies, I got no idea how long ago tha' even means, but I'm gonna guess it's old...

[The sort of tired confusion fades out with a blink though, Katsuya sobering up somewhat slowly. With a slow nod, he goes silent, at least for a short while.]

...Well. ...If it was at tha' mushroom place, I had a good feelin' about those ones anyway, [He tries to offer.]

We have started counting time in After Colony for about 200 years now. That was officially when the idea for colonies was first finalized rather than the completion. But it was long before that. We went into space being able to help provide and build.

[He smiled] I am trying to be optimistic about it. I hope that my friends did get it.

Maybe one day we'll find out then.

[Hopefully they find out, anyway.]

Yeah, maybe we will. I hope for everyone's sake that we eventually get proof that the messages were received.

[He sighed] I suppose we are all in the same boat there.
