I didn't really feel qualified to talk and I already had my turn in the interrogation room, so I hung back to listen. And from what I gather...this whole tether and void travel thing is basically creating spirit clones to go off into the void while our bodies stay home?

Please tell me I misheard something, because that's kinda creepy.

I always assumed this was only a part of me here.

Hearing it might be the case for the mortals... I can't say I approve of that being done without consent.

I'm less worried about what they've done to a piece of me. But there are rules to how you treat mortals.

...basic rules, like don't kill willy nilly and don't steal or stuff? Or something more serious?

The short version is "Mortals aren't toys". Once a being has a certain amount of power, say, the ability to separate a soul from the body, there's a responsibility not to meddle in their affairs. Otherwise it can get messy.

...yeah, a lot of stories about the gods are kinda about you guys messing with us, aren't they? Point taken.

I'm not a god. If I pulled the sort of nonsense gods pulled, it would be worse.

But some of this sounds like god level meddling.
