Apparently it's not always common but life also falls under my domain. And Entrapta tells me there are a surprising number of people with soul location issues.

I might be able to help, if you're willing to talk to me about it. I'll be in the rock garden if you want to talk about it.

[Super long shot. But although Danny liked to call himself a half-ghost, the truth was he didn't actually know. Was he a ghost that could still pretend that he was alive? A human with ghost powers? Something in between? He didn't know. ]

Does your world not have a word?

Well, Vlad said we were half-ghosts. But I don't think he actually knows for certain. Also, he's a fruitloop. And I met a ghost once who called me a halfa, but I think that might have just been an insult. Or some kind of weird 50's slang.

It's got a certain 50s vibe.

Usually mortals are the ones who make the words up. You do seem to be somewhere in between though. Do you like half-ghost?

[Danny waves that off.]

Eh, the only time I heard that name was in a part of the ghost zone that was permanently trapped in a high school from the 50's. Talk about an eternal nightmare.

[He shrugs.]

I guess it works? Its something, and its not an insult like most of the other things people call me.

[It was a little better than ghost kid. And much better than Inviso-Bill.]

High school or the fifties?

[She's pretty sure Dream has designed nightmares around both]

If it works, why overcomplicate things?

Probably both, to be honest. I can't think of a worst place to be stuck for eternity.

[A shrug.]

I guess I was just curious. It works, but I'm not sure if its right, if that makes sense?

Is that because you're the first person like you in your world?

Second, technically. But I don't trust the first. Like, at all. I'm pretty sure at least half of what he's told me is either a lie or him trying to manipulate me. So, there's that.

So you don't need to worry about what he thinks.

The thing about being the first or even the second of something is that you get to decide what that means.

Well, fair. I guess. But it also means I have to figure out what the heck I am in the first place.

[And it wasn't like there was a test you could take to figure out what percentage of dead you were. ]

Even a mortal that doesn't have ghostly complications feels like that sometimes. That's how you know you're alive.

So.... if a ghost felt like that, would they mean they feel alive too?

It would be a good reminder, if nothing else. It might even be helpful to remember.

Huh. I guess I have some questions to ask the ghosts I actually get along with when I get home.

[Although he'd probably just end up with more questions. Most of the ghosts who didn't want to destroy him seemed to get a lot of entertainment out of being as cryptic as possible.]
