This is one of those "I can't believe I have to say this" kind of deals, so buckle up, folks.

Guys? I know I'm really amazing, very cool, and all around unbelievable. I'm so many things, it's hard to list them all. But one thing I'm not?

A deity. Yes, I am in fact, 100%, absolutely and truly not a goddess. And no, I'm not a demi-goddess either. Not a single trace of divinity in me. I won't name names, but this has happened about three or four times now. Just thought I'd mention it in case there's anyone else out there with this assumption.

... Y'know what? It's a new month, and that means we're getting newbies. Maybe now's a good time for everyone to sweep any other misunderstandings under the rug. So, if there's anything you wanna clear up about yourself, your world, your species, whatever, go for it.

It's a book written by my Master Achilles to describe the denizens of the Underworld... and the Olympians I guess, though that must have been from his time on the surface world before he died.

[Aha, here is the video button! It clicks on and there's a smiling Zagreus with his Codex, flipping open the pages until he finds the one of Cerberus, angling his wrist a little awkwardly so that Inigo can get a good view of the goodest boy.]

That's Cerberus, the family dog. He's the guardian of the Gates of Hell, and keeps the alive out and the dead in... mostly. There have been a few notable exceptions.

You know, he doesn't look that scary.

[ Or maybe it's just since Inigo has faced down a huge, larger than life, destructive dragon. It tends to put things into perspective. ]

I mean, it's a dog. You'd expect the guardian of some place to be a bit more.. intimidating.

[dyingpro]

Well, he may not look intimidating, but I can assure you he's very, very big. Even bigger than my Father when he's guarding the Gates of Hell. And Father's about... [He thinks for a moment.] Twice my size? And Cerberus is about one head-length taller than him.

[Then again Zagreus is a small man, standing anywhere between five-foot-four and five-foot-eight, depending on how tall his girlfriend friend Megaera is.]

Also, three heads instead of one, three more sets of teeth to worry about!

[flatteries]

That's not that big.

[ Inigo pauses, seems to think better of it, and corrects himself. ]

Or.. well, I suppose it is quite big. But I have seen much bigger things than that. I'm fairly sure there are wyverns bigger than that where I come from. And they have very, very sharp claws-- I can speak from experience!

[dyingpro]

Well so does Cerberus! [He is going to defend his family dog's fierceness unto eternity, thank you very much!! Even though Cerberus is a Very, Very Good Boy.]

Look, the point is he's very fearsome when he's working, and he's very good at guarding the gates. The only reason I can slip past him at all is that I happen to know what his favorite treat is.

W-Well, I'm not saying he's a bad dog! [ Please, Inigo would never say anything bad about a dog who's just trying to work hard. ]

I'm just saying that I could think of a few more fearsome things..!

I can assure you he's just as fearsome as any one of your wyverns when he needs to chase down a wandering shade or scare off an intruding mortal.

[Zagreus thumbs through his Codex for a moment or two, before pulling up a picture of a multi-headed Hydra, made purely of bone instead of flesh and scales.] What, you mean like Lernie here?

[flatteries]

Are all creatures where you're from just.. like this?

[ Zagreus lives in a haunted house attraction. ]

I am so sorry Inigo but also I'm cackling

Well you live on the surface world, of course you'd find this all odd. But every being that's died does come down to the Underworld, so Lernie used to live on the surface with you all. Lernie was killed by Heracles himself, even!

That aside, though, you still have bats and butterflies in your world, don't you? And dogs? Although I will say, I'm not very fond of your rats. Them and their satyr friends always try to poison me when I make it up to the Temple of Styx.

I mean, we have something in my.. ah.. 'surface world'... [ EVEN SAYING THAT FEELS WEIRD. Why, Zagreus. Why must your world be so odd. Please have mercy on this poor medieval brain. ] that looks a little like your.. erm, 'Lernie' friend.

But it's not exactly seen as a good being. I'd say our versions of these beings are all slightly more.. let's say, regular-sized? Friendly-looking?
