[It's been a few hours since everyone has returned from the mission. Ryo looks tired - but gods, who isn't by this point? - but he's still here.]
I'm in the dining car. I have coffee and tea and hot chocolate - the good kind. I also have something that'll knock you out until tomorrow, if you want that. If anyone wants anything, you're welcome to come pick it up.
You don't have to stay and talk, but...if you want to, I'm here. I can also help you if you're hurt or still coughing from the smog on the mission.
Just...don't feel like you have to handle this alone. Even if it's not me, there's always someone willing to help. You just need to ask.
[[OOC: I'm good with action tags, handwaving, multiple people in a thread, w/e - go for it!]]

[It's acquiescence, and Ryo leans back in his chair and sighs. Just because he survived doesn't mean this is any easier to talk about.]
I'm a twin. For a long time, my older brother was one of the few people in the world who cared about me. And then, four years ago, he went missing. Left a note, left town...I know why he did it, but I still don't know where he is, and I don't know where I would even start looking.
So of course, that's what the illusions showed me: him, perfectly fine and happy to see me, like nothing had changed.
[And he'd fallen for it. He should have listened to his Sense right off the bat - he'd known there were illusions - and yet...]
I wanted so badly for it to be real. If the train picked him up next platform, I don't think I'd believe it, but-
[There should be something more there, but there...isn't. He doesn't have any more words for the moment - he just sighs.]

[Doesn't that sound familiar? Rich winces softly at his instant reaction, and shakes away his own longing. He sips at his mug to collect his thoughts.]
That place really knew how badly some of us wanted our families, huh? I... I saw my older brother too. He left too, one day. I know where he is, sort of, but we lost touch... I think he's still going to college, but I'm not really sure.
[He sighs heavily.]
It must have been hard to turn away from it. Did... someone find you?

[It's meant to be a reassurance, not a comparison. Rich deserves to have something good, both here and at home.]
[As for his question...]
Yes. Otoha got to see me completely lose my temper and pull a knife on an illusion.
[His tone is wry. Not the proudest moment of his life.]

[It's nice to hope, but Rich doesn't have much of it. He really screwed things up for Reese when he first got the SQUIP, so he doubts his brother would want much to do with him.
That's not what Rich should be focused on, though. His eyes go wide as Ryo explains further.]
Jesus... Did you know it was an illusion, or were you that upset to see him?

It really hasn't been a good day.
[And the sun is slightly warm.]

I saw my brother too. And a bunch of people I know aren't friends yet, pretending to be friends with me.
[He isn't sure if that's helpful, but he thought it was just fair to mention what he experienced, to show some empathy.]
no subject
[He finds himself wishing for his own cup of hot chocolate, if only to have something to do with his hands.]
They just...made me angry.
[He shakes his head.]
Anyway.

[Rich remembers a voice, but not much besides that, and trying to focus on it just gives him a headache.
Ryo looks worse off, though, and Rich tentatively reaches across the table, offering his hand.]
Hey, if you want to talk about it, you're allowed to talk. That would make anyone angry. I'm sorry it was so hard on you. And I'm sorry... I'm sorry your brother doesn't see how amazing you are.

[You know, a monster.]
[He pauses, then takes Rich's hand, resisting the temptation to reach out with his magic and check him over. The touch helps, at least, and he opens his mouth to reply when Rich's last comment takes him by surprise.]
Wh- no, it- [He sighs.] We were in a bad situation. My uncle waned to get us both out, but my father wouldn't let Ryoga go, so...when he saw a chance to leave, he took it. Him leaving meant I would be free to go the next time an opportunity arose.

[He just doesn't get it. He wants to fight for change too, but not at the cost of innocent lives. And not when it causes people he cares about, like Ryo, to suffer. He frowns at the explanation, tone turning softly bitter.]
...You know how I feel about dads. I'm not surprised yours was shit too. I... have a feeling that's why my brother never gets to visit me. It still sucks that your brother was kind of forced to ditch you.
no subject
[He's been a convenient target himself. Why not an entire world, if you operate at that scale?]
It does, but...I still had my uncle, and I met my friends a couple of years later. They got me out.
I don't know what travel is like in your world, but if your father doesn't want your brother to come to you, could you go to him instead?
no subject
[And he feels like that much reckless destruction has to have a goal at that point.]
I'm glad you got out of there... but your brother didn't come back, I'm guessing?
[The question about his own sibling makes his expression darken, and he offers a small shrug.]
Maybe. If I had the cash to burn on that kind of thing, but I kind of don't have two hundred dollars lying around. Especially not now. If I make it back home, I'll have medical bills.
