Llama 11, Evening, Video

[It's been a few hours since everyone has returned from the mission. Ryo looks tired - but gods, who isn't by this point? - but he's still here.]

I'm in the dining car. I have coffee and tea and hot chocolate - the good kind. I also have something that'll knock you out until tomorrow, if you want that. If anyone wants anything, you're welcome to come pick it up.

You don't have to stay and talk, but...if you want to, I'm here. I can also help you if you're hurt or still coughing from the smog on the mission.

Just...don't feel like you have to handle this alone. Even if it's not me, there's always someone willing to help. You just need to ask.

It doesn't take Koumyou Sanzo long to show up. He certainly doesn't rush to the dining car with his usual enthusiasm for everything he does, but it's not long before he's there anyway. Lingering, a little bit, in the doorway between cars.

Lighting up a cigarette between his lips.

"So, what makes it the good kind?"

Ryo looks up, the smile on his face disappearing when he sees the cigarette. They just came from a city with pollution so bad they all needed canned air, and he doesn't want to put up with it.

"Not in here, please." He's polite, but his tone makes it clear that that is not a request.

"Guess I'll be back later, then."

Look, Koumyou only avoids smoking in a few places; the sleeper cabin, and medical. It's rarely an issue, and it's not something he does to pick a fight.

He just needs that hot nicotine right now a lot more than he needs hot chocolate, so he turns and heads back out.

"I'll be here."

And he will be, whenever Koumyou decides to come back - he honestly plans on being here for most of the night, in case anyone needs comfort or a drink.

It's a solid hour before the priest comes back, but he does indeed come back. The smell of cigarette smoke lingers on him, but he's done actively smoking for the moment.

Normally, he smokes once, maybe twice a day at most. Those cartons of cigarettes he'd bought early into his time here are still being worked on, because his habit isn't very heavy.

But... in times like these, when the weariness he feels isn't in his body, he smokes more.

"So, let's try this again. What makes this the good hot chocolate?"

Ryo is still there, keeping water hot. He'll need Persephone's help growing more herbs in his plot in the greenhouse (if she's up for it after everything that's happened this mission) and he's running low on cocoa mix, but he's still there. He greets Sanzo with a smile and a mug of hot chocolate. "Welcome back. And...it's a secret."

He can really only let that settle for a second before he explains, a little sheepishly. "I mean, it really is - this is someone else's secret recipe. I don't know what's in it."

"How mysterious," Koumyou accepts the mug, "even from the guy handing it out, hm?"

"Yeah. It's...one of my friends back home. It's her recipe, and the fact that no one else knows what's in it is a point of pride. I can try to order the ingredients, but it feels a little bit like cheating." If he's going to get Lia's recipe, he's going to get it directly from her, not an extradimensional third party.

The hot chocolate itself is the good stuff: rich and creamy, sweet but not too sweet, lightly spiced and generally very satisfying.

Between the recent visit to that river, and the events of this latest mission, it seems those 'back home' loom even larger than normal in everyone's minds. Koumyou considers that silently as he takes an experimental sip of the cocoa.

"Well," he declares instead, with great thought, "it is good."

The priest doesn't remember to eat most of the time on his own, but his taste buds do actually work!

"I thought it might be too sweet for me, but it's really not."

A pleasant surprise.

He gives himself the space for a moment of pride on Lia's behalf - of course it's good - before falling back to that sheepish smile. "I keep forgetting you don't like sweet things." First the cookie and the pudding, and now this.

"I like sweet things!" Koumyou argues, "It's just when there's too much of it."

He just hasn't had enough sugar on a consistent basis to build up to it.

"Right." That sheepish smile doesn't diminish any. "I'll get that straight eventually. I just...don't think I'm going to remember much else today." Because today has certainly been something..

"I guess it's kind of weird, huh?"

One would think more people on a train like this would be unused to copious amounts of sugar, but one would be wrong it seems!

"It doesn't bother me to remind you, it's not exactly a critical detail of anything."

"It's not weird to have a preference."

The reply is immediate and firm. You're allowed to ask for what you want is something that had taken him a long time to learn and still occasionally tripped him up; wanting one thing over another is that idea's sister and had taken him just as long to get down, and he's not about to let anyone near him believe that they're not entitled to the same.

...but that was a bit intense for the easy conversation they'd been having. He's...still pretty high strung from the events of the day.

"But...okay. If you don't mind."

"Trust me, this is nothing compared to other ground I re-tread regularly with other people."

Not a problem at all. At least Ryo isn't hung up on him being a priest, for example.

"Thanks for the drink, I'm going to go check on Dev."

"Oh- would you mind doing me a favor?"

He pours another mug of hot chocolate and sets it in front of Sanzo.

"Can you give this to Devero when you see him? It's fine if he doesn't want it - I just thought he could probably use something nice."

From what Ryo has seen, Devero doesn't really rest during missions unless someone makes him. After today's events, he's probably just as much of a wreck as the rest of them.

"Oh," Koumyou picks up the new mug, and smiles at Ryo, "thank you, I will."

Why, that's a markedly warmer 'thanks' than he'd given for his own drink. People wanting to look out for Dev has that effect on Koumyou!

Someone scored points just now. He hadn't been around to see Ryo fussing at Dev at base camp on the demon world and the like, after all, off fighting as he'd been.

Ryo doesn't miss that change in tone, and he answers that smile with one of his own. "Thank you for taking it for me. I appreciate it."
