Llama day 2 from Stores to Everywhere

[Taiki is stood in front of the ICP in the stores, to not be underfoot in the kitchen as he did this. His face is stern, a lot sterner and stoic than most who knew the young man would expect. Not a twitch or a tremor betrayed just how nervous he was to be speaking over the ICPs. Or to be talking about this at all.]

Hello, I hope everyone who joined us yesterday have begun to settle in. For those who don't know me my name is Taiki and I'm on the Red team. However I rarely am with the red team on missions and that is part of what I wish to speak with you about today. It is a new month and that means there will be a mission in a few days time. I am someone who does not fight and cannot condone violence done towards any other creatures, I say this not to condemn those of you who feel differently but to explain why I struggle being of use on the missions we are sent on. I often wonder if it would be better to remain here on the train but I cannot contemplate leaving my friends to go into danger without me and the missions are to save worlds. If refusing to fight for a world would mean it's demise than abstaining from the mission would be an act of cruelty in itself. [He shook his head.] So I have been finding ways to help without being near the fighting. However it has come to my attention that there are others who feel the same way I do even if they have their own reasons for it.

I thought it might be useful, if together we made ourselves known and figured out ways we could provide assistance to help those on these worlds without causing any harm. If anyone has any ideas of tasks that could be done by those who cannot or will not fight please suggest them. I wish to be of use and I am sure others do too.

[His face grows a tiny bit lighter, though keeping the stoic mask.]

On a slightly related note I bought a selection of vegan foods including a meal kit to make plant burgers. [He says vegan like the word is still quite new to him and 'plant burgers' like he is very dubious about their existance.] I am planning on doing some cooking if anyone wanted to try any of it.

[And indeed he is in the kitchen when Lea gets there, chopping up some celery.]

[It's not long before Lea arrives, taking up a knife and cutting board and stepping up beside Taiki to work on the next ingredient in line.]

So... what all's going into these plant burgers besides the burger patties themselves?

It's mostly chickpeas and some vegetables and seasoning... Um there are also sweet potatoes for making chips, have you had those before?

[Chips or sweet potatoes, both would be strange in his own world.]

If you mean the kind that come premade in a bag, then no; I've had regular potato chips like that but not sweet potato ones, though I know they do make them.

If you mean the other kind of chips, though, I have had sweet potato fries before. They're pretty good, especially with a bit of powdered sugar. There was actually a restaurant back home that would serve them with a side of this great apple butter-based BBQ sauce to dip them in; that stuff was the best.

I think the fries. Not the ones that come in a bag. [He shrugs lightly.] Fries weren't a traditional food in Japan and my parents... My earth parents I mean. They were very strict about food. My grandma too. She had strong opinions.

I'm not sure they had sweet potatoes in Tai at all. Or fries. Or chips that come in a bag.

[Lea nods.]

Yeah, it really depends on the world- and sometimes the part of the world- what foods there are available. And I think pre-bagged chips at least are a fairly modern thing, so a lot of less technologically advanced worlds probably wouldn't have them.

That's too bad though, about your parents. But hey, at least you can try lots of new stuff here if you want.

Yes I have tried a lot of food here. There's a lot more vegetarian food than I thought there was.

[And just other food in general, which made sense considering the amount of worlds.]

All this talk about food reminds me of something. Have you ever had grilled fruit? Fruit isn't something that most people would think of when it comes to cooking on a grill, but it's really good, especially with honey and cinnamon.

[Taiki thought for a moment and then shook his head.] No... I haven't had anything like that before.

Then I'll have to make some for you sometime.

Though I was kinda wondering, is honey vegan for you? Some people say it is and some say it isn't, but I don't know where you fell on the question.

I... I'm not sure...

[He hadn't really thought about it before, honestly. He does now, frowning slightly.]

I guess so... I don't know if other kirin eat it. It's never made me feel ill or anything.

[Lea nods.]

Well, that's the important part then. Both magic and biology can be super weird sometimes so I figured it was better to check, you know?

[He really does mean it, he is very grateful for his friends here and how careful they are about things. It makes things easier, even if he feels guilty for causing them such trouble.]

No problem. Like the saying goes, 'an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure'. And that's especially true with things like this.

[Finishing up the vegetable he had been cutting, Lea pushes it aside slightly to start on another.]

Besides, cooking with you in mind is actually kind of fun. Gives me an excuse to get creative, you know?

[He nodded, that was a good saying. It was true. Far better to never cause harm than to try and fix the harm that has been caused.

He smiled.] I'm glad you enjoy it.

Yeah. I mean, in the Organization it was kind of a necessity; you were expected to take care of yourself, so it was either learn at least the basics of cooking or live off frozen dinners and takeout. But really I've always kinda liked cooking.

I used to do it all the time with my mom. She'd call me her 'Special Assistant Chef', and even if I was only doing something like putting sandwiches together, it felt great to be able to help out.

[He smiles at the mention of Lea's mum, imagining what Lea must have been like as a child, with a family.]

She sounds a really kind person and you clearly learned a lot from her.

[Lea's smile became something softer and more nostalgic, with a hint of sadness.]

Yeah, she was. Both my parents were. I... maybe didn't appreciate that as much as I should have.

Radiant Garden was a really peaceful place for most of the time I lived there, but I tended to think it was kind of boring, you know? So I kept trying to find some adventure to liven things up. Isa and I used to sneak into the castle all the time; according to Vexen, it drove Dilan- a friend of his who was one of the top guys in palace security- up the wall.

[The smile takes on a bit of a conspiratorial note.]

They never did figure out how we managed to get in and out though.

[He smiled back.] It sounds like you were quiet the mischievous child. [Sneaking around and driving security mad. Looking for adventure as an escape from peace.

Oh definitely. I'd have gotten in so much more trouble without Isa there to back me up; he kept me from doing a lot of really dumb stuff.

Sometimes we snuck down to the lab and Even would take a broom and 'sweep us out', while Isa and I went along with it, complete with really goofy bad acting. It was fun, and I think Even enjoyed it too. We even thought about getting him a birthday present one time, and leaving it in the lab for him to find, but we never did find out when his birthday is.

[He should maybe find that out now come to think of it...]

It sounds like you were in good hands and that Even was not truly mad at you.

[More in jest, keeping an eye on the two mischievous children.]

Yeah, he wasn't mad. Just didn't want us near the equipment; a lot of it was probably expensive, and some of it was definitely dangerous if you didn't know what you were doing.

Dilan was definitely mad, but running from him was part of the fun. Not sure how Aeleus felt about it all; he almost always looks like he's frowning, but that's just how his face usually settles. Really, he's not quiet cause he's grumpy, he's quiet cause he's a little bit shy; it just comes off as intimidating to anyone who doesn't know him because he's like 6'8" and build like a brick wall.

Ah... Yes.

[He knows people like that. People so stern that you can't help but think they are angry even when that is just how their faces sit.]

Yeah most likely not. But you couldn't have convinced me of that as a kid. We knew what to expect from Dilan- usually a lot of yelling and probably some valiant attempts not to swear in front of kids-, but Aeleus was just this stoic giant who looked like he could snap a guy in half without much trouble if he was so inclined.

[And he honestly probably could. He just generally wasn't so inclined.]

Intimidating enough if you're an adult. As a kid? Yeeeah... basically when he turned up we knew the jig was up and went along quietly. Well, mostly quietly anyway. I still tended to squirm a bit when Dilan was tossing us out.

He sounds intimidating. And it sounds like you were very mischievous. But that is good I think... It means you were curious.
