[she's sitting in one of the quiet rooms, up to her elbows in glitter, probably best not to ask]
Hallo! I'm the Doctor. [she scrunches her nose] Sorry if that's awkward for some people. [she'd deal with that later]
But! Well! That was a bit of a question, wasn't it? What will make us happy. I mean, avoiding the existentiality of it because that is a broad spectrum requiring much deep thought and lots of poor decision making skills--
There are a lot of choices, and I don't know how to choose.
A lab would be nice. More labs. All the labs. A pool. Love a good pool. Good for barbeques and catching your falling wife from a fifty foot drop. ... er... that might be awkward too. Sorry. Plants. Could always use more of those. Double rooms well-- I'd rather be able to stay up as late as I like.
But clocks! Now, clocks are intriguing. What does that mean? Does it mean a room with clocks? Does it mean clocks throughout the train? And what kind of clocks? Wall clocks? Grandfather Clocks? Kicksey-Winseys? I had a Kicksey-Winsey once made by ...Bloody Stupid Johnson, I think is name was. Never did tell the time but every hour on the hour it would hunt you down and give you a boot in the rear. A great way to get things done if you get settled in one particular task.
Oh but I like art, and I love games.
D'you think I can choose all of them?
I think we deserve all of them.
What do you think?

Lotta folks seem to be tied up.
[About that glitter...]
You got a magic way to get all that off ya?
no subject
no subject
What? Nah, no, just thinking it'd be good for others here.
[He hasn't even been here long enough for that! Then again some people do work fast...]
And dunno, glitter is real sneaky. Like sand, but worse. Hope it all comes off though, otherwise we'll start seeing sparkles in the cabin here and there.
no subject
And that...gives me an idea. [an evil grin] I just need the materials.
no subject
[That grin is not reassuring at all. As for her pushing the topic of him fancying someone, Dennis just shrugs, trying to brush it off.]
Nope. Mostly just been trying to make sense of everything. Maybe learning how to be useful for this mission stuff I keep hearing about.
no subject
[which is only a matter of time really]
First part is hard, second part is easy. Some things can't be made sense of. Useful, well everyone's got something they can do. What's your strengths?
no subject
[Cautiously thanks, but thanks. The Doctor seems well meaning if not odd, he'll be interested to see what she comes up with.]
Yeah, just kinda rolling with the punches and doing what I can. Uhhh... dunno... I guess for what could be useful here, um, had to learn basic first aid and CPR for work? Not sure how good that is with people here with magic.

[Was back home he means.]
Can cook... I can fumble through basic repairs if I gotta with help from Google.
[Dennis knows she doesn't need a whole list, but he sees her point.]
Guess even the little things add up.
no subject
No.
Stopping that train before it starts.
Yes. Little things. Brilliant. Whenever there is a fire I know who to call.
no subject
No offense doc, but you look like someone I know, be a little weird.
[More than a little weird.]
But guess I'm on duty if y'need a firefighter.
no subject
Once I got mistaken for a ruthless megalomaniac dominating the United Zones Organization. Though, I mean, to be fair, he looked like me. Which was a bit rude, if you ask me. Last face I looked like a Pompeiian I had known and it's a good thing I never met him again. That would have been awkward.
...[she pauses and looks at him]
Erm...were we talking about anything important? Right! [she claps her hands and points] Firefighter! Maybe you could teach me a thing or two
no subject
Uhhh, yeah, sure? Lot of it has to do with the equipment which we ain't got here, but could teach you fire safety.
[He frowns slightly.]
Pretty sure the train breaks a ton of fire regulations, but I'd have to do a walk around to confirm it.
[And while it seemed like The Doctor maybe didn't really want to get into it, Dennis turns the conversation back around to them. He's curious.]
... you've had different faces?
no subject
Can you teach me the fireman's carry? Dead useful that. Might need to modify it because well I haven't had much upper body strength for a while. Was once a time I could bench lift a lorry. Or it felt like it.
[she blinks]
Yeah. Long story. Bit of a genetic trait. Instead of dying my genetics completely rearrange themselves so that I'm not dying but am...new. Or old if I want to impress a girl. Well not old old, but the same face I was before. It's complicated. Not always great either. You know how it is.
no subject
Yeah, course. Useful to know, specially with this mission stuff. And look, just cause you're a girl don't mean you can't.
[That might not be what The Doctor meant Dennis.]
Me mate Ziggy, she's small, but tough as nails. She could probably out lift half the guys on the fire team. Bet you'll be just fine once you learn how to do it.
[And huh... so The Doctor is some kind of genetic marvel or alien? So they can never actually die? Just get an all new body and face?]
Uhhh... [He shakes his head a little.] Can't say I do, doc.
[Er, with the whole changing your whole body and face... for someone. His body isn't that fancy.]
no subject
I mean I don't know how women put up with it. I really don't. [it's infuriating]
no subject
Sorry.
[He clears his throat, looking away from The Doctor.]
Weren't trying to say you can't do things. Don't matter who you is.
[Just takes training and the willing to learn sometimes.]
