Hello? Hi, everyone. You know, I not good at aligning the days with the calendar, but I realized my birthday is actually last week on the 25th. While it was belated, I was exhausted from the last mission. I don't celebrate my birthday for years from where I'm from, considering I lived in poverty, so there wasn't much to eat.

I would like to assemble a lunch and dinner, a birthday party today. I haven't baked a cake yet, but this is where you can help. You can meet me in the kitchen. I'm looking to assemble ice cream as well.

If you like to eat, come a little later today to join me. It's on me and my treat.

Xingchen is getting used to the idea of having friends. Where he used to be, back home, he was very lonely.

"Lea, hey! You decided to come. I'm glad you did and you're not late. And thank you. You're not too late to help me fix the meal and desserts. I'm arranging them all by the plates."

He already started by arranging the portion of rice, vegetables, meats on the plates, and sliced cakes on another plate and put them in rows on the table.

"You can help me serve them out to the others who are coming to eat."

Yes, having friends was a very nice thing to get used to. And Lea intended to be available to help the process along.

He looked at the food being laid out on plates, looking somewhat impressed. "Fixing up plates for everyone, huh? Nice," he said before moving to help plate slices of cake. "Most birthday parties I've been to have been self serve; all the food was laid out on big tables, and then people would just come up with their plates to get what they wanted. Of course, most of the food was usually a lot simpler too. Things you could just eat with your hands rather than stuff you needed to sit down and eat with utensils."

Xingchen finds Lea very helpful. Friends are few.

Hearing that tip, he nods. "I'll keep that in mind. There isn't much anything to do until the train arrives in the next world. So I passed the time reading the books, studying them, and follow the recipes on how to bake a cake."

He sat down with his plate of food. "Sit down and eat with me."

Lea nodded. "I've found that there's a good amount to do actually," he said, "but not all of it would appeal to everyone. Though if you wanted something to do just for fun, we could check out the games car sometime. Not sure if there's any games there you'd recognize, but I could probably teach you a few, if you're interested."

At the invitation, Lea nodded, sitting down across from Xingchen with a plate of food of his own. "You know, this reminds me," he said after a moment. "I celebrated a birthday back in the last world I was in before I got brought to the train. But with all the general craziness here and the different months, I kinda forgot about it again; it happened a couple months ago at this point. Is it weird, that I'm just now realizing that I'm 27?"

"I'll be up for that. I think A-Qing, she mentioned about those games, but I'm more interested in reading the books and studying to gather knowledge. Reading books is a great luxury. But for today, I'll join you in playing the games in the game car. Now that I could see, I'll be able to play."

As he speaks, he listens as he dives into the food. "Time seems to pass differently here. You're 27? I don't remember how old I am, but I should be around 25 I think."

"Yeah, I bet reading would be a big deal after being blind for so long," Lea said. "There's a written language in my world made of raised dots on the paper that lets blind people read by running their fingers over them, but I don't guess that your world has anything like that. Though it might be good to see if we could get a few books written in it for the train, in case we get more people blind people being brought aboard."

Lea tucked into his food as well, nodding as Xingchen mentioned his approximate age. "That's how old I was when I was first pulled to Diatu. I remember being so ticked off at the people there. It didn't really help that there was no good reason for us being there like there is here; the only reason people got pulled into that world was that some idiots decided to fool around with dangerous, illegal magic."

"My world doesn't have that kind of invention, I'm afraid. It's very ancient by the train's standards, so much of the written characters is by paintbrush on the parchment." With a nod, "Yes, I know. It's called braille. I learned that much during my time here. It's much easier to read with my own eyes, so I have my own nephew to thank for the gift." So besides among inventions, the medicine, and technology that is advanced than his world.

He heard his suggestion though, and he's thankful he's not blind anymore, but going through that, so enjoying the food and the company.

With a pique of interest. "Diatu...? Are you in another world other than your homeworld before this train pulls you here?"

Lea nodded. "Yeah," he said. "Technically, the world was called the Tenscore Kingdoms, but I and everybody else who was pulled there spent most of our time there at Diatu Magicademy and the city surrounding it. It was a pretty crazy place, but I was able to reunite with some friends there and make some new ones on top of it. Once I stopped being ticked off at just having to be there and settled in a bit, at least."

Listening to his story as he eats his birthday meal, "That sounds interesting. That you're in another world other than your homeworld, and then you end up on the train." This proves the train does collect souls across worlds in the entire universe and that really opens up his mind and limited vision.

"Is it a school? What did you learn during your time spending in that world before the train pulls you here?"

"Diatu? Yeah, it's a school," Lea said. "A magic school to be exact. Which was probably why it was so crazy, honestly."

"As for what I learned..." He gave a wry smile. "Not nearly as much as the teachers wanted me to. I've never been an academic and probably never will be. But I did get really into one particular subject: Forging. It's basically a way to combine spells and sometimes magical substances with traditional metal and glass work to create magical objects. Magic rings, magic swords, that kind of thing. Got pretty good at it too; I managed to recreate some magical accessories from my world without any of the magic infused crystals that would normally be needed to make them."
