[ In a very rare network appearance, Wen Qing shows up on the network, apparently sitting on the upper floor of the library. ]

I'm addressing those of you with knowledge of medicine or magical healing. Some of my colleagues and I are planning to undertake an eye transplant by surgery and would be grateful for further expertise.

Several months ago, a combination of medicine and magic proved very effective in healing Xue Yang so we would like to replicate this success.

OOC: This is about Xiao Xingchen's eye transplant, Wen Qing will be happy to provide further information just not sharing detailed medical information with the entire train. Willow and Ichigo are already signed up for it, others are welcome. This will mostly be handwaved but you're welcome to involve your medical characters in this endeavor and play out all things research & prep & what else at your own leisure. It's new to me as well but it has been done before in my world, by just one cultivator doctor, albeit the most gifted one we have. I have done other experimental surgeries before, though. I hope that with knowledge from various worlds, we can make up for lacking Baoshan Sanren's brilliance.

[While Nita doesn't know the name or its significance, she does get the idea.

Nodding, she asks:]

Everyone interested is meeting in the Library, then? I can be there in a few minutes.

[Unless this was a 'teleport if you can'-type emergency, in which case she could do that too.]

Yes, please, if you aren't busy otherwise. I feel like a library meeting is best to get everyone talking, though it doesn't have to be right now. If someone can't make it now, they are free to join us later. [ She smiles wryly. ] I'm sure we will be spending a lot of time yet planning and researching.

Better to do the reading now than botch something later.

[ Wen Qing greets her with a small smile, looking up from the notes she has been brooding over. ]

Nita. Good of you to join me. And you thought to bring tea as well, thank you.

[ She gestures towards a second chair. ]

I've got a number of video messages from volunteers already, both medical and magical. It looks like we will be able to get a wide array of expertise.

[Nita nods, though part of the grim determination on her face gives way to a smile.]

Can never be too prepared for a surgery, that's for sure. I know I can have a word with the retina and how the brain taps into the eye to make sure they're all communicating properly, but to know what needs to go where-

[She gestures at Wen Qing's notes.]

That's what research is for.

[ Wait. She gives Nita a look, momentarily wondering if it's supposed to be one of these futuristic puns she doesn't understand but considering Nita's magic... ]

You can have a word with the retina? [ She echoes it, quietly incredulous. ] Do you mean that literally?

[The Powers probably did intend for it to be the pun that keeps on giving - but, more to the point:]

Yeah. /It's part of what using the Speech is for - talking to Life to make sure things are really all right, or even 'as good as they could be.'/

[The switch to the Speech, and its deeper feeling of resonance, of saying the truth, as best she knows it, is deliberate.]

[ She nods solemnly in acknowledgment and lets the power of that hang in the air for a moment before she speaks up. ]

I believe we will have use for that during the surgery. Do you have experience using it for medicine?

Yup.

[Nita doesn't have to double-check on that one.]

Admittedly most of the 'eye-specific' work I've done was self-administered, but those changes weren't as drastic as other surgery I've worked on.

[ That... She blinks. ]

You will have to tell me more about these other surgeries sometimes, it sounds like there are some interesting stories there. Or alarming ones, at least, if these were self-administered as well.

[Nita shakes her head.]

Those were for other people; I haven't... been through, that kind of surgery myself.

[But the tales would definitely qualify as 'alarming.']
